- Today, we announced a new chapter in their heart-warming Atelier series: Atelier Sophie 2: The Alchemist of the Mysterious Dream. The latest entry in the series follows the beloved alchemist, Sophie Neuenmuller, shortly after her adventures in 2016’s Atelier Sophie: The Alchemist of the Mysterious Book.
Atelier Sophie 2 is coming to Switch/PS4/PC on February 25, 2022!
Atelier Sophie 2: The Alchemist of the Mysterious Dream continues the story of Sophie and Plachta’s many adventures. After leaving Sophie’s hometown of Kirchen Bell, the pair discovers a huge tree identical to one that Plachta had seen in a dream, and as they get closer, a mysterious vortex pulls them inside. Sophie awakens alone in a curious new world called Erde Wiege, and it’s not long before she hears about an alchemist named Plachta that lives on the outskirts of town. Shockingly, when Sophie arrives at the atelier, she meets a young alchemy enthusiast named Plachta, and even though the alchemist shares the same name as her friend, she doesn’t recognize Sophie. What other surprises await Sophie on this journey? As the adventure continues, Sophie meets aspiring alchemist, Ramizel Erlenmeyer, who willingly agrees to help her in her time of need. The narrative elegantly unfolds with a charming new visual style that combines the art of the Mysterious sub-series with the high-quality graphics and animations featured in 2021’s Atelier Ryza 2: Lost Legends and the Secret Fairy.
On her journey to find her missing friend, Sophie will have to fight the many monsters that inhabit the lands of Erde Wiege. As soon as players encounter an enemy in the field, the battle begins instantly without any load times or separate screens - a series first - allowing battles to flow seamlessly. In addition, battle parties now consist of six members, with three in the front and three in the back, to form two teams that co-operate in multi-linked turn-based battles. This new battle system opens up a wide range of exciting combat strategies that players can utilise to take out their foes. - Ігри
Awesome that they included the quality of life from Ryza 2 but kept the core gameplay the same for Sophie
Not a fan of all the changes they made with the Ryza series but there for sure is some great improvements. I'm more happy to see the alchemy go back to a more puzzle based style and the combat returning to a turn base again.
Thought Ryza was the best of the entire series personally.
Nice, was hoping this shows us what happened in the time between Sophie 1 and Firis. Also happy to see it come to Switch where I have most Atelier games on nowadays.
Imagine if Sophie is going to be the final Smash character.
@@protoluigi2047 Sora is the final
@@Mystra I know, it's just fun to speculate since Sakurai likes anime style characters. Well at least she uses a staff, not a sword.
@@protoluigi2047 Maybe if they make Smash 2 :)
@@Mystra You mean a game after Ultimate, because Melee is Smash 2. However, I wouldn't mind her because she's cute as a button, but I would prefer seeing Chun-Li, Travis, Saki from Sin and Punishment, and Ray from Custom Robo.
I'm so excited for this! So need to finish the trilogy before this comes out! Looks amazing!
Ciel Nosurge DX and Ar Nosurge DX localization when?
Nice trailer! I wanna play this game when it release for Steam!
Btw, nice to see Takahashi Rie in the voice cast!
This was really unexpected. Never knew they would make a 2nd Sophie game of all things.
Also took me by surprise. It's a welcome one nonetheless
After the success of Atelier Lulua it was almost a given we would see more sequals to some of the older games that the fans really loved.
@@buckroger6456 But the odd thing is that this game is a direct sequel to the first of its trilogy instead of continuing from the 3rd game. Having Dream on the title must also be like some fever dream and likely they will forget all this happens to stay in continuity with the other 2 games.
@@thatanonwholurksmoar7386 that was my guess as well. I'm thinking all of this is real but Sophie will only see it as a dream and nothing more. I would have liked something taking place after Lydie & Suelle but I'm still happy with this coming out.
My favorite alchemist girl is back!!! Greeeaaatt!!!! 😍
Seems like this story is placed after leaving Kirchen Bell and before the events of Lydie and Suelle in Merveille, judging by Plachta looking and outfit. I even would say is before to meet Firis.
Definitely seems to be taking place after the 1st game.
It's cool that we're getting a 2nd Sophie game. Didn't think that was possible since the Mysterious Trilogy was pretty much done.
Gonna get this after buying the trilogy, that bgm really make me nostalgic
Ah there's the trailer, good stuff!
Sophie was my first atelier, this is great.
Glad my favorite MC is gettin a second adventure!
I am cry right now , i am so fucking happy i love it i just love it.
same here. Sophie introduced me into the Atelier´s world. So happy for the sequel
AAAA I can't wait!! Sophie was my first, & favorite Atelier game!
I just bought ryza on sale this week. I've been hoping to get into this series for a while. If I like it I will preorder this one. I hear Sophie and ryza are great
@@Kikisleeps sorry but I haven't started it yet. I'm trying to finish ghost of Tsushima. I probably won't start it for another week or so.
Ryza isn't my favorite in the series at all but it is a great starting point for new comers since it's much easier all around.
@@buckroger6456 until October 7 there are like 15 atelier games on sale on PSN. I was told ryza and Sophie were the easiest So I chose ryza
@@imjustafriend58 Ryza is the easiest one out of all the Atelier games. Ryza is also very straight forward in what to do and it's more polished out then some of the older games. If you never played a Atelier game it's honestly a great starting point.
@@buckroger6456 thanks for helping me out. To be perfectly honest I wanted to buy a Ys title but settled on atelier ryza. Hopefully I'll finish Tsushima this week so I can play it
So excited to see Sophie & Plachta again!!!! Can't wait!!
I´m so happy! At least we only need to wait until February. Can´t wait to play this game
oh wow Sophie blushed a lot in this trailer..... also that flower ornament tho... really match with her... also 1:28 😮
My favorite Atelier character is back!
Thank you so much !
Little disappointed that we didn't get a 4th dusk instead, but hey, mysterious is great too!
I was too in the beginning, but i understand it marketingwise. Sophie dx is basicly new, so there is some crosspromotion there. i wounder in they want to test the waters with an "old style" atelier (turnbased battles/deeper alchemy) after they somewhat got mainstream exposure with ryza. Sophie is well loved as a character, that it feels like a good comparison-sample... and even if her game had some bland characters, plachta and sophie were working quite well. Plus there is storypotential there. I mean the name ramizel is not new. I don t quite remember if it was droped in sophie 1, i would assume it did, but the old Lady Alchemist in firis mentioned her. Could be an interesting characterdynamic, IF it is the same person an IF it gets even adressed. Could also be an simple easteregg.
I think this will be more like a sidestory, between sophie 1 and firis. With dusk i would want something bigger.
This will be great none the less. I love that they bring the more traditional formula back. Even if it may only be for one game. Quite exciting.
I love my switch.
It's Sophie's grandma. I think they went back to time because they have a young plachta. Maybe we will see Luard before using ablation alchemy
I know. For spoilers sake i made it a bit less obvious. Her outfit even has some simelarities to the one sophie is making in her sidequest.
Btw. Why are sophie and plachta synthesising in the trailer? That's a new one. Maybe working like the cauldrons did in sophie 1?
Edit: oh wait you could do that in lydie und suelle too.. still strange though
@@albertojrlacsamana6098 it can't be her grandma because if this is plactha from the past. This event is happen 500years before Sophie first event. Its can't be her grandma expect she can make elixir reduce age like Astrid did in meruru :)
@boatsum I just finished Atelier Sophie dx 2 months ago and that name sounds really familiar... I am not sure though if anything would make sense if we are talking about time wise as it's called the mysterious dream. I'm sure it will come together once we play the game. But I'm excited with the future of the atelier series tbh.
Edit: i went back to read Sophie's bio, it says there ramizel and I clicked the name and it says she would appear in the sequel
Those save data bonus costumes S2
Heck yes, my favourite atelier series :), cant wait :)
I kind of woke up and magically saw this on Google but man I will be getting physical and digital, Switch of course 😎!
Welp, time to finish Atelier Sophie 1.
OMG Gust games is making Atelier Sophie 2😍😍😍 I loved this game and the mysterious trilogy. Hope Sophie's travel friends Oskar,Monika,Fritz,Julio,Leon,Corneria,Harol, get a dlc return, loved Platcha human form.
Definite purchase for my Switch!
they make these games fast af...it's like a new one comes out every month or something
Happens when your livelihood depends on them. Also they save some time by often times reusing assets from previous games. You will notice it if you play a lot of Gust games.
This is great! I loved Atelier Sophie.
Definitely my game of next year!
did anyone know the title for this BGM ?
Day one for me.
Never played Sophie 1. Might give it a shot.
Btw, timeline wise is this after Lydie and Suelle or between Sophie and Firis?
Iirc, it's stated on their TGS presentation this game is a side story that take place before Firis & L&S
@@ramaluminus You don't have to be obnoxious. As if everyone watched that TGS presentation. I didn't even know about it.
Awesome!
Hype !!! ok now do a dusk sequel preferably Escha&Logy
Like a story of how Logy ended up in kirchen bell? lol
@@twoinone_ in the anime he said something turned very bad when he tried to fly a airship where his best friend was badly injured and nearly killed, after this incident he choose kirchen bell to be a random alchemist working in small village, in central seem he was a great engineer
Time to bring these games to the Xbox too, Koei!
i will probably play this since this is the latest atelier and im able to jump to mysterious series..is just sophie though. hope next project is Ryza 3 i love, love, love the combat!!! it will be probably dream come true to see dusk series make a come back to!!! littery love escha & logy
Whoa
Gust be like: 👉 You get a Ryza costume. 👈 You get a Ryza costume. 👆 You get a Ryza costume.
Damn the OST does remind me of ar tonelico/ar nosurge.
? Both are done by the same dev. Though members maybe different now, it's the same team doing the music.
I love it already
I'm having a heart attack while watching this. BEST GIRL IS BACK
I've been waiting so long for this, Sophie is best girl!
Best girl is totori

WOOOO!!! Atelier Sophie 2!!!
Let go sophie is here let go
No....no Oskar?.... *trumpet ost begins playing*
But I wanted to see Oskar!
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
Rie Takahashi... That's all you had to say! SOLD
Switch version, physical, day 1 buy.
pls pls I just hope they don't use ryza battle system for this, I'd rather enjoy the music and skill animation while battling rather than fast paced battles
sophie is love. sophie is life! ♥
The fourth Mysterious sub-series
Cute trailer 😆
YOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
You will ruin me Koei Tecmo... But I love it :)
sophie-chan the cutest alchemist :3 i hope theres dupe item feature..i stop playing firis because theres no dupe item..and also bring back cornelia is playable char
Costumes are fine and all, but I would rather have a weapon or exclusive power or something like that.
Yeah, but holding a cool sword doesn't sell figues. Gotta make 1000 costumes for figures and mouse pads sales
Make it pc game toooo :D YAAAAAAAAY
huh, i thought they would do ryza 3 but ok
Please update add new characters🙏add up LV 99🙏🤲🙏
Paid English Dub DLC post launch?
That's too smart for Koei Tecmo
I love you Koei, but with Spanish translation please 🥰🥰
why is the Mc wearing a tent?
No PS5 version 😔
Is this turn based?
@@newchannel1209 Thank god. I tried Ryza and didn't like the combat. I just prefer turn based battle more.
@@crealights4800 you aren't the only one. Many OG fans didn't like a lot of the changes Gust made with Ryza.
I love to see more Sophie but I do have questions as to why Platchta is a loli now... Like, was that appearance change really necessary?
tf, no ps5??
how have we gone backwards
At least the 5 is backwards compatible.
This is a pleasant surprise. I expected Ryza 3 but i also love the Mysterious trilogy, so another Sophie is great.
Also could you please consider bringing the Atelier series to Xbox? I have a ps4 but i'd like to replay these games on my xbox series s.
It would be cool, but if I remember correctly, some developers (I think it was Capcom) have stated before that Xbox is simply non-viable for Japanese games.
I think that if Japanese games in general, JRPGs in particular, and even more specifically Gust RPGs manage to really break into more of their target audience (like hopefully Persona/FF numbers), then we'd be more likely to see the games arrive on Xbox.
But I hope for the best ^^
Please do an english dub of it 😭😭😭😭😭 Why'd you stop ?!
They won't dub it, cause they don't care. It's pretty obvious.
After fighting so hard in another world (Warriors All-Stars), it's time for Sophie's return...and her imminent departure to yet another world. Looks like she's becoming an isekai alchemist. XD
No thigh but I will still take it.
Graphics look great. Was kinda hoping for an Alchemy system like Ryza though. I hope they at least made it more convenient. Not being able to easily duplicate kinda ruined Sophie and Firis for me.
I sure fucking wished those "Suggestive Themes" could be more than just suggestive, but I guess that's where the doujinshi comes in for rescue.
Um, really? One is literally in lingerie.
Ugh, wish it was a new Dusk game instead, but this will do too, I guess.
No PS5 lol
It is through backwards compatibility.
Y lo thicc?
Atelier Sophie 1 battle system was beyond trash. This one much better
Beautiful and sexy girls all over the place. The game looks fun and familiar. Glad we can now have the games for the Switch because sony and playstation have declared war on anime.
No they haven't lmao there's PLENTY to be found there
Anime fans crack me up with this non-existent war
Many games have been censored on playstation but not on switch and steam. Gamers can look up for themselves this "non-existent" issue.
@@obitonagato6420 sony and their garbage hardware died to me a long time ago. they axed their only studio i cared about (the one that made gravity rush etc.) ever since then it's full STEAM ahead for me! sometimes i SWITCH though.... ok i'll show myself out!
@@MrGnuh For me sony died when they started censoring japanese developers and enforcing censorship policies that are not clear and that are not public for anyone, even developers. Steam and Switch for now on.
Those 1996 graphics tho...
Were you even alive in 1996? You and I remember very different game graphics from that era. 2016 is a better criticism, but 1996? Bruh, there are more polygons in Sophie's face than entire games from that era.
@@LockedOnTargetShow i dont think he was alive in 1996 or he still too young to play video game
1996 is more early ps1 game, nintendo 64 and damn their 3d game look so bad than 2d game were more enjoyable to look
@@LockedOnTargetShow Born in your future actually. Traveled back in time to comment that the graphics in this game (jiggle physics excluded) are severely outdated.
How do I say this tactfully. Umm..
No thighs, no buys
(I'm jk but it needed to be said)
It honestly didn't
I'm glad this game is subtitled only. I can't stand english voices anymore, especially discovering how evil most of the American english dub community is the past couple years.
Just look at how Funimation VAs act.
Bring back thic thighs lady
English dub i hope. Too much reading and i'll lose interest in the story i don't want that.
Too much reading? It's an RPG...
Lmao no legend or heroes or atelier series for you.
Too much reading? LMAO! The Atelier dubs have always left most scenes silent so you had to read everything anyway.
@@MarthKoopa i mean. you do have read the traits on items you gather
Well, KT already dropping EN dub since Lydie & Suelle, so you won't really like their recent releases.
English voices?...No? Then I won't buy it, sorry...
No swimsuit no buy
Why? Are you a xenophobe? Can't stand listening to foreign language because cultures other than your own scare you?
@@MarthKoopa What? Of course not, I just prefer English dubs and depending on the game, Japanese games with only Japanese voices have voice acting I don't like, which is the case for this game. I don't have a problem with another culture and I've already played many Japanese games with only Japanese voices, but of course, it depends, some Japanese games have great voice acting (I think), and other games have, in my opinion, unpleasant and annoying voice acting...all of this is without mentioning the *fact* that the original Atelier Sophie has English voices, so...
@@lovevideogames1 As if unpleasant voice acting isn't present in English dubs.
@@justjess6636 I'm not going to deny that there are examples of unpleasant/bad voice acting in English dubs, Chaos Wars, Castle Shikigami 2, and Arc Rise Fantasia (a game I don't have) are just some examples of Japanese games with voice acting that can be *very* bad, we also have things where for the most part it's a good or competent dub (I'd say), but there are 1 or 2 characters with an unfitting or badly acted voice (Aokana: Four Rhythm Across the Blue is an example, I don't like Misaki's voice in English). At the end of the day, I definitely prefer English dubs, but...I don't like every single English dub out there, of course.
Commence all the xenophobes complaining about no dub
