I'll probably pick It up eventually. When the $115 bundle gets on a reasonable sale. Just how I'm still waiting for the same thing with Ryza 2...still waiting.
I did buy the collectors edition from Nisamerica for the Switch! But I hate that Koei Tecmo locks bathingsuits behind the Deluxe digital edition. So ofc I had to buy the ultimate edition digitally as well! I need those bathingsuits for this game! And the Seaskn pass of course. It is a horrible business practice though, all dlc should be made avaliable for purchase separately. Great review as always Jordan!
🧪I can't wait for my physical copy to arrive!! Used your 20% off preorder link and free shipping. So, it was only $48 shipped 😄😸It will look nice on the shelf next to the mysterious trilogy and ryza 1&2!!
I honestly wonder what the timeline of this game series is. Great job as always but XCOM 2 still taking all my time to finish so this rug gonna have to be put on the wishlist
I doubt it will be the case, but I really hope they have an unlimited inventory in this game. I enjoy the series, but it always seems like there is never enough room for ingredients when out in the field.
For anybody interested, the inventory still is limited in both the basket (in-field collecting) and container (overall). The container limit is very high, but I faced a severe space shortage near the end of the game.
This was my first Atelier game and I can confirm I had absolutely no problem following the plot, and it's even easier if you do not like 5 minutes of research on the game to give you some context for the previous game. It was also one of the best written JRPGS that I've played in....probably decades.
🧪 I was hoping Sophie’s first game was going to go on sale before this came out but from the sounds of it playing the first game isn’t necessary to enjoy this one. I look forward to checking it out soon ✌️
Hello, i wonder if there will be a ultimate physical version to buy it because i can't find it just digital. And the standard physycal edition will include some of the outfits?
It looks so good but i didn’t finish Ryza. I got bit bored of it halfway through. Just ll seeing the alchemy screen on Sophie makes me think “oh not this again”. I don’t know if i should get this or not. 🤔
My copy will come tomorrow i'm really eager to play atelier sophie 2 its been 2 months since i finished the mysterious trilogy hoping for ryza 3 for the next atelier entry
🧪 After playing Blue Reflection Second Light and hearing all the praise of this series from multiple JRPG youtubers I've been having my eye on the series... just not really sure where to jump in.
Most are stand alones except for Ryza and Sophie. The trilogies take place in the same region and may have returning characters but you can still enjoy them individually.
If you are able to access a PlayStation 2 emulator, Atelier Iris imo is one of the best places to start. I played Iris 2 and 3 heavily and as you can already tell, it's a trilogy. 2 has you basically take control of two characters and revolves around two blades known as the Azure Azoth and the Crimson Azoth and the appearance of a young girl named Iris. The story is awesome. Atelier Iris 3 follows a more grown up Iris with her own Atelier and her partner Edge.
I love the Atelier series(been a fan since PS2 days), but its main issue in my opinion is how they manage to ignore what happen before and go with the popular route rather than creating something memorable.
🧪 Ryza’s thighs>everything. Jokes aside, this one looks pretty good. I’ll probably get the trilogy that contains the first Sophie first though. But I definitely plan on picking it up.
As much as I love jrpgs I cannot stand constant interruptions with banal cut scenes. The Atelier series always put me off with these, coupled with bland environments and one dimensional characters I have struggled to get more than 3-4 hours into any entry in the series (since Ps3 era). I will be missing this one!
I love jrgps but have zero interest in the ateleir series. all for 1 reason the freaking time limit. in an rpg I wanna explore do sidequest etc not rush trough the game and even a lenient time limit ruins it for me
The only games where the time limit could actually be an issue is the Arland trilogy. The next trilogy (Dusk) is quite lenient and got rid of the limit in the 3rd entry. The 3rd trilogy (Mysterious) brought the time limit back for the 2nd entry (Firis) but it's so easy, it might as well be non-existent. Any other entry afterwards has no time limit whatsoever. So if you want to try out the series, just pick any of the more recent titles ad ignore the Arland and Dusk trilogy (and Firis maybe).
@@ryasson1830 if ita there its an issue for me plain and simple like I stated in my comment. and I dont wanna start an series with an over arching story in the middle of the series either a time limit in an rpg is the most stupid mchanic possible rpgs are about exploring etc which is hard to do with a freaking timer
The gameplay looks so much up my alley but dear god the character design just makes me want to jump out the nearest window every single time I see an Atelier game. The overly sexualized insanely young looking girl with impossible proportions ... holy potato. Can any other company make a similar concept without the frankly needless overly sexualized characters and dumb as all hell story please ? :D
I bought the game and played through it from start to finish - put 60+ hours in the game. I was dedicated to finishing it. But in the end, I ended up not liking it. - *Combat is too easy.* If you know what you're doing with your equipment, battles end too quickly. I never felt compelled to heal my team or cure any debuffs during battles. The aura system forces a particular strategy that gets repetitive with every battle. _ *The world and set-pieces were very bland* - always felt compelled to fast-travel rather than be immersed in the environments. - *The soundtrack is not memorable in this one.* Each piece is constructed very well mechanically, but they're just not interesting to listen to. Fast-traveling and fast-ending battles reduce the exposure necessary to let the environment and battle themes settle in your mind. - *Characters are hit-or-miss.* They're fun to be around, but their motivations/character arcs tend to be cliche. Regarding one character particularly, I felt the relationship between them and Sophie was not developed enough. - *Story has an interesting premise, but it devolves to being safe and resorting to the generic "let's all get along" group dynamic.* - it gets boring quickly. Plot conveniences are excessively used, making me think "how convenient" often. Pro-tip: when you get the opportunity to adjust party abilities, aim for all abilities that reduce restock price, reduce duplication cost, and increase rewards for requests. You'll be swimming in Cole for the rest of the game and will make everything a heck-ton easier because ALL alchemy-created items can be duplicated, even story-related ones.
honestly sophie 2 looks better then ryza 2 in the one aspect that matters most to me and that is gameplay holy crap was the battle system in ryza 2 beyond bad and unfun for me and one of the two big reasons i never finished it the other being ryza herself lol i couldnt stand how much they sexed her up in 2 she was like an oppai loli utterly freaking disgusting

Have the game already ordered physical after going crazy mad about how poorly they are doing their DLC releases. Anyway gj on the review.
Always good to hear from our favourite potion-master Jordan! My Premium Box edition arrived in the post today!
Hope you enjoy it!

The battle system looks amazing. More games can use something similar so the characters not in your party can be useful
It's a good system!
Yayyy I’m excited for this one, I love the new character designs so fun and colorful💕

So happy to see the Switch version of Atelier Sophie 2 runs well. I have the series on ps4 but planning to get this one for my Switch Lite.
I should really try this series someday.

Love this franchise (past Arland Trilogy) so this is a no brainer for me, my copy should arrive in the coming days.

Sophie is my fav Atelier
Still haven't played any of these but I'm thinking about getting Ryza and starting there. They look excellent.
Thank you Jordan.
04:52 I laughed too hard at the footage cut to when you said twin attacks 😂 I guess I need to grow up.
Unintentional comedy is my favourite form of comedy!
Good thing I already pre-ordered it via eShop

Was never a fan of anime style looking games until I picked up the switch. I really missed out after all those years.
The battles sound like the Mana khemia 2, if I remember right.
still have to finish two atelier games

You can auto synthesize so if alchemy is not for you just have the game do it for you☺️
@@Sardonic_Zee I’ve ordered it anyway. I knew i would lol
I too was "distracted by boobs" when I was preordering, but the game looks great and I can't wait to get my copy of the boobs...I mean game
Should I get Atelier Ryza 2 or this game? Ryza 2 is kind of cheaper now
Ryza 2
I would say Ryza 2

Play Ryza series. They’re the most modern, polished, and designed for mainstream audience. Or at least they are the most noob friendly.

Would anyone here know if the japanese version has english? I figure being koei it's probably a no.
Only Japanese, Chinese and Korean

Oh don’t play Ryza 2 then, it has a gazillion cutscenes, and I passed them all as quickly as I could after a while.
🧪Thanks for the review n.n
🧪 fun review like always 👍

Never played any of these. Story is important but combat and alchemy being easier and more accessible would make this my choice.
Looking forward to playing this one, still have to play the first though >
the alchemy looks a bit like battle chef brigade
I personally prefer a chocolate milk shake things up 😁😁😁
🧴🧴🧴🧴🧴🧴 thats a potion bottle not a lotion bottle lol
good review, suprised the woke babys didnt destroy these games yet
LETS FLIPPIN GO LADS SUPER WAIFU SPECIAL PREMIUM DELIXE BOX IS ON THE WAY
I can't get over that there are no longer english VAs. I get the reasoning but it's still rather disappointing for me

The battle looks like they took some Xenoblade 2 ideas.
Mana khemia did them before the first xenoblade on wii, lol.
😎🤙👍👍
Considering the first game 🤔 why isn’t…… (game starts) 🍈🍈🍑!!! 😍🤤 game good
