Upspeak is annoying as hell, I didn’t even realize downspeak is offensive to other languages. Interesting. I was in Germany and though they were way more blunt than Americans. We ask how people are doing, which my German friends think is the strangest question ever. They literally asked me why I ask them how they are doing if the answer is always good.
That’s when you hit them with the “Look, it’s been a couple generations but I just want to be extra sure you’re doing good.”

Basque country, it spans Spain and France great food and very welcoming people. They all speak Spanish despite basque being the main language but 60%+ know English too.
My girlfriend is Slovakian and the cost of living is very low, with a fairly good standard of living despite bad health care. With us being young and healthy, I really want to move over so I can learn the language. Her home town looks almost identical to my rural home town. Just gotta learn Slovak, not the hardest, and Hungarian, possibly the hardest language to learn as an English speaker.
If you can work remotely/retire Id say lower cost countries like Romania or Hungary or Poland. If you need to actually make a living in the country Id go with Luxemborg.

@@aliuniversal4100 Weather wise it isnt the greatest but the Architecture in downtown is pretty cool. If you google image like Budapest or Warsaw the downtown is great. Main positive is its a place thats cheap and low crime.
There are some bland/gray looking apartment complexes that the Soviets built but if you go there with money you wouldnt really need to be around that.
@@aliuniversal4100 they're fun to visit but you wouldn't want to ever actually live in them. If it weren't for family ties, no eastern european would actually stay in their country.
Went to Rome last year and it was amazing. But you need more than a couple days. There is so much to see.

And it used to be that you're not allowed to travel your own country with it.But it seems they final changed that... Although it looks like you're not allowed to go on buses anymore and sleeper trains but how that works in practice i don't know.

They do have firearms just heavily regulated. Mostly just shotguns and air rifles though for hunting
