these are the closing titles, from The first season of Coronation Street, in 1960, complete with the from The North Granada Production endboard at the end.
Watching vintage episodes of Coronation Street is better than todays episodes. Memories should be treasured and never taken for granted. It feels so good to watch the early episodes. Todays episodes are never the same as it was many, many years ago. So many past characters gone but never forgotten. They remain in the hearts of Manchester.
They didn't always use this style, often more traditional rolled credits were employed. I suspect that placing the names over the houses was used when the episode underran and they needed to fill in the time with longer credits.
Saw the first episode and remember being a little confused as there were people on television talking like me, never heard it before and felt immediate connection.Bring back Ena Sharples!!
Only 4 of the main 12 cast members are still alive today (2 of them are barlows) and the other one Linda Cheveski (edit) I forgot Dennis Tanners Actor Phillip Lowe
It's Coronation Street, Jim. But not as we know it. *THE ROVERS RETURN* ...really?! So it HAS had a different name! And wait, what's that little building beside the Rovers?
97channel this is footage of Archie street in Manchester the real street Corrie was based on , I think it was filmed carefully so you didn’t notice when they were using a set but for the credits they used the real street and I think people gave less of a fuck then and just took it for real... definitely merged that image of the rovers into the end though and fuck knows what that building was attached to it lol 😂 I think as the show grew more popular they probably thought they should make it more real and drop the Archie Street footage because it’s so clearly different
GHDmnespafro even though your wrong end of the stick here .... we are talking about THIS image of which you see in the video we know about the other stuff and where ena used to live
GHDmnespafro no need to be sorry 👍🏽 we we were just talking about this particular shot and how they did it and exactly where the rovers and end building were , because the rovers looks attached to the street even though it’s the wrong pub and so does the little building so how was it shot was the point that I was making

I like how the names of the characters are shown on their respective houses...nice touch.

And to think that the bloke who wrote what came to be, possibly most iconic theme tune ever got paid a whopping £6 at the time!
Molly Shore l,
Well £6 pound in the 60s is like 200 grand now
@@PacyMitchEditz
Probably about £150.
They would never have end credits as slow as this now.Nowadays it's blink and you miss the credits and half dozen more adverts.
Shows how much the set has changed over the years. The houses are all half bay windows now..
RIP Tony Warren
I can't believe that coronation street's them song is this old from the 1960s so nolslagic. Who else's Mama's still watches coronation street?
Just to point out, Coronation Street has never been broadcast in "seasons". It is continuous.
Oh dear XD so miserable
BCJ1985 Haha...Just like our telenovelas. No seasons.

GHDmnespafro I know War isn’t relatable to this but we all hate wars Holocaust definitely
A masterpiece
am i wrong or is this the longest running soap in history and one of the very few that never changed its opening and closing themes???????????
Ikr it feels like the 1940's when I see this that yr was awful but doesn't bother me
Paul Hetherton The theme changed in 2010, but it's basically the same.
Ladies and gentlemen, I give you our national anthem
The Old Streets And The Old Theme Tune Too
Manchester has changed so much looks like a mini new york now
Only 4 of the main 12 cast members are still alive today (2 of them are barlows) and the other one Linda Cheveski (edit) I forgot Dennis Tanners Actor Phillip Lowe
great show
Christine Hargreaves play Pink mother in the 1982 film Pink Floyd the wall
They've changed their themes a little.
Guiding Light is still the longest-running soap, for now.
And 7 years later it's Corrie!
@@Ben6164 now it's 100% corrie
Michael Scott must’ve been the 2nd Director after Derek Bennett
Is it true that Granada bosses gave Eric Spear something like three days to compose this theme tune? The things you do under pressure eh??
Only a gay man could come up with something like Coronation Street so iconic
Very Long Theme Tune 📺🎵🎵
They've had the same credits since it started in 1960
No
It's Coronation Street, Jim. But not as we know it.
