I have two bottles of Amrut - the standard entry level single malt and Kadhambam. If I see this cask strength version, I'll have to grab it. Amrut offers good value for the quality. Even fancy bottles like Kadhambam aren't totally out of line. Paul John also makes some good whisky, but special editions can get expensive. I paid the price and grabbed a bottle of Paul John Mithuna. It is a complex and concentrated monster that is unlike anything else I've had, but it doesn't come cheap. While I like bourbon, one observation I have is that most bourbons from the core region taste like narrow variations on a theme. Both corn and new charred American oak barrels have rather strong and specific flavors, so it is hard to get a lot of variation unless it is dumped into a different barrel for finishing or unless it is aged in a climate that is significantly different from the core region. Malted barley, and the traditional methods used to produce whisky from it, result in a much greater variety, even within the core regions of Scotland and Ireland. As single malt whisky has spread all over the world, the stylistic variation has only increased. To me, this is easily the most exciting category of whisky these days.
I’m still getting into single malts. Not a fan of peeted scotches but I’m loving the single malts from Balcones and Stranahans. I’ve seen the Amruts at the store and have been very curious. I’m glad y’all liked that one. 🥃🥃
I've been curious about Amrut. I haven't seen their cask strength whiskey available where I live but I am tempted to pick up that Bardstown Amrut collab I saw. A little pricey though.
Bought the Amrut Cask strength this week based on y’all’s reaction. Really good. I loved the Bardstown Amrut so I wanted to know about the Amrut finish. The Bardstown tastes really strange after a few pours of the Amrut. Strange phenomenon.
Got to try the Bardstown Amrut last weekend and felt the same way. It’s not bad but would rather have the Amrut itself (and for half the cost) than the Bardstown collab.
This is the 1st time in our friendship that I’ve questioned you. Take My Breath Away is from Berlin and was the”make out song” from Top Gun. It was also my high school make out song when I’d have girls over to the house. We’d watch Top Gun and as soon as this song would come on, I’d pull out a rose and kickoff make out session. The only way I’ll know we are true friends is if my wife never hears this story 😂😂😂
I’m gonna go out on a limb here and say this is the first instance of someone mixing up Celine Dion for Berlin…even here on Canada Day today, this is a straight red card! 🟥⚽️
Man you all keep talking up Amrut, I’m going to have to go grab a bottle. What would you say is a good bottle to grab? Say there was a person who was interested in Amrut, but he could only buy one bottle, which one are you telling this person to buy? 😂
If you like high proof, the cask strength is a great value. If you like a little smoke and peat, Fusion is the ticket. If you like lower proof, get either of those and add water until it's to your liking. Such great whisky and value through the roof!
Bellow. Used to blow air on hot coals in a fireplace to rekindle a new fire.

A bellows is what you were thinking about I do believe. Great show today.
Came here to say it, glad I looked! Haha! That’s what I was thinking he meant.
What an incredible pour! International whiskey is more exciting than bourbon right now. Glad this one this ine came up in a Monday video!
Love it when you veer off into single malts. I’ve a mini of that and gave it a strong score. Yeah, they’re pretty awesome. Cheers!
You guys are my new favorite channel. Keep up the great work and love you are mixing it up with international whiskies. Cheers!
Thanks so much for the kind words! Cheers!
Take My Breath Away is Berlin from the Top Gun soundtrack.
That juice is unbelievably delicious. Gets better with couple drops of water.
Indian whiskey is delicious - so underrated. Way to go!
Take My Breath Away was sung by Berlin. It was from the most awesome Top Gun soundtrack. Amrut CS is expensive by me. I’ll add this to my wishlist.
I think that Berlin did Take My Breath Away. Some time in the 80s.

Fantastic blind review. We also love single malt snd glad you guys do too. Cheers!!

Amrut makes great whisky. I am going to have to look for this release.

Good Indian whiskey? I guess I should've seen that coming! Will have to check it out. Like Erin, I like bourbon but not sure it's my favorite.
“One more sip to get my rating.” Yeah, sure. 😏Y’all wanted a wee bit more of the grape. 🤫
I'm a big fan of everything Amrut.
If you like dark whiskeys, try Middle West's Cask strength pumpernickel rye with a wine finish. So good.
Love the pumpernickel!!
That sounds more like Amrut Peated cask strength. They make peated and unpeated.
It wasn’t peated. It had that subtle smokey character like many non-peated Scotches have, but nothing like a truly peated pour.
Soo refreshing to see bourbon guys likeing single malts. Kudos for that!!!
Love Indian single malts more than bourbons. Several good ones to explore. Try Amrut Fusion.
Love Fusion!
Happy when any time a quality single Malt gets some love. If you enjoy Indian S.M. keep an eye out for Indri Trini.
Nice review! I had a sample of Bardstown Collaboration with Amrut and it’s really nice! Cheers!
Y’all should try Raasay scotch. The non peated offerings are absolutely delicious! And if you like peat they do some amazing releases.
Amrut and Redbreast are my favorite single malt. Please try the
Amrut Portonova.
We have and we loved it!

Pumping, are you talking about bellows? Like what you stoke a fire with?
Yep! Remembered after we were done recording. Words seem to escape you sometimes when there's a camera in your face. You nailed it though!
Yikes. It's $120 (+23% tak) in my neck of the woods.
Billows
Gotta get it.
I totally agree with you. Amrut Cask Strength is amazing stuff! It’s my personal favorite across international single malts. Enjoy!
