What are your thoughts on the 1400 Air?
@@Championhelmets Now i have my 1400 and i can say it is amazing! A little tight but it will loosen. Airpump is working just like intended. Noise is average, change form HJC IS Multi (VERY NOISY). Interesting part is that it aerodynamics create behind a little turbulence and when passenger doesn't have good seal on windscreen it whistle (Tested through intercom, when I turn my head up or down, left or right whistle from passenger windscreen was no more, only if i have face straight forward). Overall very light and awesome helmet!
I've had this helmet for about a year now and have done a good few miles on it, motorways included. Its a fantastic helmet, I have the carbon version and its so light you barely notice it on your head. A few minor problems the internal sunvisor doesn't drop down far enough, its perfectly useable still. And the helmet can be a bit loud on a naked bike around 70mph. Otherwise I can answer any questions about the helmet if needed :D
@@woody7155 I'd say it's better then average I've used it on a 28 Celsius day and wasn't too horrible. The Xlite x803 carbon is around the same price depending where you live. Hope that helps!
One of the best reviews I came across indeed. Newbie rider here, off to get my first ever helmet, course is upcoming. I’ve been checking out this one from Scorpion, and the HJC RPHA-70. Both do fit snug and comfy, nice reviews, hard to decide. Could you add some advice that eases the choice? Thanks!
I disagree with the noise tests you conduct because I have had the same results. Your bike has a windshield on it. The windshield causes a bunch of turbulence that gets tossed up at the helmet. I stood up on my bike going 80 and heard virtually nothing but air streaming across my helmet which lowered the sound to almost nothing. Coming back down to sit on the bike, and I could hear all the pounding of the wind at my helmet. I took the windshield off, yes a bunch of wind started hitting me directly, BUT the sound levels I heard above me when standing, was now right where I sat normally. You lose the protection from the wind to gain the quietness that the engineers test these helmets at in wind tunnels. They do not put a windshield in front of the helmets, but rather have them experience the air stream directly. Schuberth is one company who does this specifically with their acoustics in their helmets.
I am unable to decide between Scorpion Exo-1400 carbon and HJC RPHA 70. Both are similarly priced in our country. Could you let me know the best of two? I saw your reviews on both. But I need to know a fact that, if HJC suffocates us inside with its poor ventilation?
Hi Bharath, thanks for your comment, I would recommend the Scorpion Exo-1400 Carbon, because it has better ventilation, as you said. It is not that the HJC RPHA 70 suffocates, but still it has poorer ventilation than the Exo-1400 Carbon.

Owdo, I'm in the process of shopping for new lid, the two you mentioned here I've tried, the hjc I really fancy but can not get a comfy fit. The scorpion is the best fit so far. Having both shark and agv k3, time for renewal, the agv k5 I want in union jack but again the fit is not right. So.... My question here to you Bhuvan, have you tried these on? I suspect you haven't and suggest you do, I'm a extra large and they are two completely different fits. Looking like the scorpion upto now. But few more month before I purchase I think. Good review. May I just point out that if you're in a leaning forward position with this lid [ like on my sports tourer [ Blackbird ] you are looking at the top of the visor all the time and through corners vision not good. Also [ imho ] it's noisy as hell and the sun visor operation is very stiff and not smooth . But it's a lovely looking lid and fits true to size for me [ M ] same as my HJC .
Between the two helmets, the R1 Air will work best for those planning on more tucked sports riding while the 1400 Air is better suited for upright touring riding. So, as far as riding in the city, both could be a decent option depending on what sort of riding you generally do and what sort of bike you have. If you're curious, you can also check out how the R1 Air performs on the road here: ua-cam.com/video/0B8e22O8WOk/v-deo.html Thanks for the question!
Was the carbon version tested for noise levels? The material usually impacts the noise absorption and general hormonics. I wonder if the carbon version is louder. Love your guy's channel. Nothing beats hard measurements!
For sport-touring, the 1400 Air would likely be a better starter helmet. Not only does it bring more value with the Pinlock insert included in the box, Airfit system, and quick release visor, but it is likely safer. Though the F70 has not been tested by SHARP yet, HJC usually average out to about 3 stars while the EXO 1400 Air earned 4/5 stars. Thanks for the question!
I would like to ask how comfortable the scorpion helmet is? What is most important to me is how quiet it is in its category? Is there anything better? I think it's twice the price..
Air exo 1400 carbon vs r1 carbon vs spartan carbon vs skwal carbon ? What is the differences ? Which is better for sport touring ? Sorry for bad English .

Shouldn't safety constitute one of the metrics against which helmets are measured? Afterall, that's the main reason one would need a helmet, isn't it? Scorpion Exo 1400 gets 4/5 in sharp test while the Hjc rpha 70 doesn't fare as well.
Yes it definitely should. But right now we don't measure this. Once we are able to measure this, then we will weight this in as well. Thank you for your feedback

Though the ease of mounting will depend on which Cardo system you use, the Slim and Bold should fit the EXO-1400 Air. If you use another sort of Cardo system such as the Freecom, these will also fit. Thanks for the question!
The Airfit system is definitely a clever solution to a common set of fitment issues. For example, if the helmet doesn't quite fit right at the start, the Airfit system can help firm things up. Alternatively, if you use the helmet extensively and find the cheek pads loosen up too much, then the Airfit system can also help compensate for this. So, it can come in handy in the long run. Thanks for the question!
This helmet ranks great on sound insulation.. however I have this helmet and the wind noise is just unbarable at 110kmh and onwards. Are my expectations too high and yous till need earplugs, or might there be something wrong with my helmet?
As far as impact absorption and penetration resistance, both materials will offer a similar level though it is true that they will react differently. The main reason that the carbon fiber shell is lighter is due to less material being required for an equal strength to the Ultra TCT shell. A lighter helmet does also offer added safety benefits, which would make either helmet a good choice. Thanks for the question!
