this video is useless as far as actually getting the backing plate back in place .. you will drive yourself nuts trying to just slip it in from the bottom--you need to remove the 10mm nut at the bottom holding the window channel, and then secure it out of the way (with the window closed)--not necessary to remove it completely..and then, still with some difficulty you will have room enough to position the backing plate properly to re install the 2 bolts to secure the door handle. -------otherwise endless frustration..
Absolutley must remove (at least) the 10mm at the bottom of window track and move it aside. I admittedly did not read comments on this video before attempting replacement steps. Died, read comments, resurrected. Thanks for this video. TRQ has gotten me through many DIY repairs on several different vehicles now. Great source.
Might be a silly question but how do you know if your handle is bad or if ot just needs to be adjusted. My lock fell out of my handle and in going to try and take it apart today thanks to yours and a couple other videos
Helped me a lot. Thanks. I left the second (back) pin for the door lock attached at the bottom because it was hard to pull out. I pushed the door lock out while it was still attached instead. That worked well. I also completely removed the window track.
Very nice video! It took me about 2 hours to get mine on. It's really tough if you have big hands btw. The areas are so tight to get your hands in there .
Great video. Thanks. Separating and reinstalling the exterior plastic from/to the inner metal brace was a bit of a challenge. Not a lot of room in there. If it weren't for the video, I would have thought I was doing something wrong. It just took persistence to finally luck into the pieces going where the needed to go.
Well, it seems like the year on my van 2007 the way of the windows drops down. It’s in the way of the bracket I can’t get it in. I’ll just leave it with handle fuck it.
+@EddyDean We wouldn't be able to diagnose an issue like that here, you may want to have a local mechanic take a look at it. Thanks for checking us out! 1aau.to/m/Shop-1AAuto-c

I agree. I wanted to set the van on fire.

Oh and this guy makes it look easy! It's not at all easy. I have worked on all kinds of stuff. But Chevy this is ungodly! 😂
Looks fairly straightforward. Will let you know how it goes. Thanks.

Really needed the tip on those metal rods. This made it so easy to fix. Only took 5 minutes. Thanks!

Very helpful thank you so much
Very clear instructions. Others had us taking off the window track. Thank you.
Great video, you did a good job. It helped me out a lot. It was still a real pain of job.
I've done this 4 times on each side of my 2002 van. It gets harder each time. More anger, more swearing
Third job on my van you’ve made simple. Love the channel
Excelente explicación.Gracias.
I'm glad I found this. My driver side handle broke and all of the sudden my passenger side handle broke! Uggg
+Michael Diffey Thanks for watching. Buy the part in this video on 1AAuto.com: 1aau.to/m/Shop-TRQ
How do you release the window rail. I removed a bolt at the bottom of it but it’s also hanging at the top somehow.
Thank you so much, very helpful and detailed.
Excellent video
THANKS. BIG HELP
Nice work
Great video
If somebody only needs to swap out the lock cylinders, do you think that could be done without having to remove those 2 bolts?
Thank you
excellent

Let’s see you do it without moving the window track! I bet you can’t
Thank you 👍
How in the world can you even do this when you can't even get the door open? Something has happened and I can't even open the door at all.
I have a 2005 Chevrolet C5500 Kodiak cab
