Furtwangler's Brahms 4 has never been bettered. Absolutely coruscating performances.

Toscanini is one of the Terror conductor even today. I love him and Admired him the most. Believe me or not, He's pretty quiet sensitive. And lastly, They obeyed him time by time.

An orchestra now must be persuaded, not terrorized.

@@canalesworks1247I would argue he was kind and loving and very giving. People take criticism personally. He demanded the most out of his musicians all in the service of making the best possible music for the listener with integrity. Everyone is weak and temperamental today and can’t handle the heat. Playing at the highest level doesn’t require weak musicians that get offended by the prospect of having a high standard of excellence. Perfection requires discipline and soundness of mind and understanding you are a servant of the music. You owe the world to play it right and not half assed. That’s my personal opinion on this matter and people usually target him like he’s a criminal. As musicians we have a duty to the music and a job to do right. Anything less is mediocrity not worth listening. That’s why he’s a legend and still revered today. He made music at the highest level and didn’t half ass it and he demanded his musicians to follow him in his pursuit of excellence.
