I have been to hundreds of festivals. Earthdance was one of my first festivals I attended. And, this moment was the peak of all of them. I ate some acid during this set and Zap Mama played after and it started pouring rain and we all danced in the rain. Festivals will never be as good today as they were back then.
it think michael franti will be in the catagory of immortals in muusic. he has such strong good energy that after seeing him live or even hearing his songs makes you feel like hes part of your family.

Both Michael Franti and John Butler Trio should come here to Ottawa to support our cause. Would be nice. The South March Highlands a very ecologically sensitive land is very near destruction as developers have a planned subdivision. Has 19 endangered species and over 650 other species. I happen to know one the members of his band (by blood) & I can tell you w/o reservation that 1) Michael Franti could make twice the money, if he was going to sell out. 2) He has passed up many many trendy music festivals (like Coachella when he found out "trendoids" like the Kardashians etc. were to attend & have special privileges) he refused- even after they up the $$$. 3) He donates more time to literacy & philanthropic causes than stars making 10x what he brings home (which is a fixed up barn) 4) His popularity & work have lead to numerous citizenship awards, but he will never speak of them. 5) He passed up the cover & an extensive interview for Rolling Stone & even US News & World Report. These statements are NOT rumors or here-say innuendo, they are fact. Michael Franti is humble, & probably one of the most dedicated persons to all world philanthropy I have ever met. I am sorry sadaaromin13, I just could not let you state that. I am a tepid fan of his music, not a "groupy". If he was alive, John Lennon & Michael would be brothers- - -get my drift. Having met him only 3x- - you can feel his goodness....
