Thank god for Anneke van Giersbergen. She was the well that so many vocalists we love and have, drew inspiration from. Oh yeah and the Gathering. What a band!
Her voice is so recognisable, so strong, so consistent, always in tune. The project she did with Arjen (Ayreon fella) called The Gentle Storm is really great as well.
@@mariogansbeke which vid? I think i know which one you mean, but the reactor for sure does not know. Don’t complain afterwards if she picked “the wrong video”!
I saw her live several times. She is an absolute vocal prodigy, and the sweetest person alive. I know "Travel" is a song The Gathering fans love to push forward, but honestly, it is not a begginer friendly track at all, for neither the band, nor Anneke as a vocalist. It's very long and atmospheric, and doesn't even showcase her vocal strenghts as, let's say "On Most Surfaces", or even "The Blower's Daughter" would. I personally would never introduce the band to anybody with such a track. I would probably go with "In Motion #2", "Saturnine" or "You Learn About It" instead. Still, it's a beautiful track, and I'm glad you reacted to a The Gathering song, they're one of the most influential bands on the genre, and changed the game for sure.
I am a huge Nightwish fan from way back in 1999 but Anneke is still my favorite vocalist to listen to and her personality on stage is second to none. She talks with the crowd while on stage and acknowledges them between songs. Some videos you can even see her engaging with the fans and singing to them not for them. She is a special person that many need to take lessons from when learning how to entertain people. If you want to go deep into the rabbit hole she did 4 albums with Devon Townsend and has been featured with many different bands. She at 49 is still touring today and sounds as good or better tan she did in the 1990's when this song was written.
How can a song line with such a limited range in notes be so mesmerising and fulfilling? Anneke and the guitars competing and blending in their hovering qualities.... goosebumps!
I would say short range rather than "limited". Because it is not about melodies.. but atmosphere, harmonies, depth. You'll find a similar experience in several Gilmour's solos.
Yes!!! I’m so happy you chose this performance. Anneke’s voice gives me full body chills and I love how she just loses herself with the music. FYI she was also on Beste Zangers 2021 and has performed with Devin Townsend *wink wink*.
Another lovely reaction and analysis. This performance is from the 25th anniversary show for The Gathering. The singers that join Anneke on stage are the other singers the band has had over the years. Song is about traveling back in time to meet Mozart and tell him how important his music is. Love how trippy and psychedelic it is. I get Kristin Chenowith vibes with Anneke's voice as well. Echo others with checking out Somewhere with Within Temptation. One of teh most gorgeous duets I have ever heard.
The tall bald guy is Bart Smits, their first singer. They were a death metal band back then. Some of those guys were on the same secondary school I went. I had their albums and saw them playing live before Anneke joined.
A real masterpiece! What a great composition! Anneke's voice is so incredible great.... Also the great guitar playing and sounds by René Rutten are really carrying this song🙏💪👍
Anneke and The Gathering were and will remain the peak of female-fronted Progressive-Metal. They were so awesome yet so unrecognized. Shedding a tear I saw them during that period despite I wasn't even 20 years old.
She is such a diamond. Absolutely blew me away as a 16 year old in 1995 with her performance on mandylion. And this is by far my favourite song featuring her gorgeous voice. The emotion behind it, the meaning of the lyrics… the whole how to measure a planet album is fantastic btw. And she inspired Floor. It’s unreal.
Was standing in front of the guitarist (René) at this one. An Aussie, a Brazilian, and a Frenchie, friends in music brought together for this one event, hugging as one in tears singing along. Best musical moment in my life. ❤️
I only discovered Anneke through the work she's done with Devin Townsend but I have to say that her voice is absolutely stunning. I've got to hear more of The Gathering if this is typical of their live performance.Incredible!
Check out their live dvd's with Anneke spanning a decade. It starts with 'In Motion', then there's the semi-acoustic 'Sleepy Buildings', the award winning 'A Sound Relief' and finally 'A Noise Severe'. All available on YT in some way. Start with 'A Sound Relief' and find out why Anneke was considered best by her peers in that era. Enjoy!
She also did have her own rockband, it is a bit less metal and such but if you want to catch up with it, it was called Aqua d'Annique, made about 2 albums as i recall...
She’s incredible! She has full control over her voice and her voice is her presence. She doesn’t need to move an inch or do any theatrics or stage antics. Just stand, sway in place, and SING! Her voice dues all the talking. Only seen a few songs of her through UA-cam reacting to videos and I’m always impressed.
I don't think it will ever be possible for a vocalist to knock Anneke off the top spot for me, and it's been that way for almost 30 years. I hope you dive more into her work, as I feel she's criminally underrated in the reaction scene.
'Waking Hour' (from that concert) has a great build-up which shows Anneke's control and 'In Motion #1' is a good duet with the singer to her left, as is 'Leaves' for a duet with the singer on her right. As others have probably mentioned, those other singers were previous or current singers with The Gathering.
This piece and performance always resonates with me. I get totally caught up in the sound. Absolutely mesmerizing. Having you pointing out the technicalities and what it feels for you just ads to it. Thank you.
uhhh the sweet and legendary Anneke. She is definitely an institution in the world of female metal music, and this concert was a love letter to the fans of The Gathering Band. Please, you should react to ''Waking Hour (Live)'' from this show, it's just another great piece with this stunning woman. Btw, I love your reactions and contributions

I love this performance from Anneke. The ending hits me deep in my soul. The pedal tone is so powerful and the build! Wow! A tribute to the memory and legacy of Mozart! To Travel back in time to tell Mozart his music would live forever. This was a 25th anniversary reunion show with Anneke's first band. All of the other lead vocalists from the different eras of The Gathering joined her onstage to end the song. The ending harmonies are so full of yearning. They were not really symphonic. More like a psychedelic trance version of Pink Floyd. Not very easy to plug into a genre. As she progressed with her career she did more of the symphonic style rock music. We heard about Anneke joining the Gathering years ago and once we heard that voice it opened our minds to so many things. "I think the first time "I"heard them was "Night Time birds" or "How to measure a planet" but like in all fairness, her voice is just unreal. I've introduced a fair few musicians from all Genre's and it all equal's the same through the board. ( The person that introduced me was an Celtic Artist that created band covers here in Ireland and Scotland for the Metal Scene ) Yes ... Michael look what you've done !!
I had the pleasure of seeing her live twice in Chile, and it is moving to witness this wonderful and beautiful woman in person, she is gorgeous and extremely talented, very nice too, she has a very particular charisma, I love her.
Especially the fact that a girl with good singing techniques can front a metal band with a floaty voice over the guitars. Anneke showed Floor this opportunity. Singing wise, Anneke uses a lot of twang, something Floor hardly ever does. The way Anneke lets her voice resonate is also completely different So in that way they are miles a part.
@@vogel2280 I was just about to ask the original commenter what could be described as the specific way Anneke was different from what was existing before she came in, both locally in her home country and in the Western rock/ metal scene as a whole. If you could expound more on that I would appreciate it. Your point about her using that sweet twangy and mask placement to cut through with minimal effort (rather than belting like some singers might think they need to do) is apt, and I imagine it allowed her to have (1.) multiple colors (since she can also go darker and rounded, and (2.) a long career being able to sing the same songs without depreciation in quality or drastic change in tone due to getting older. (By the way, I think she and Devon Townsend could work together! Have they?)

I was at those 2 anniversary Concerts.... Anneke... I have no word to describe her, her voice and her music... You can hear her on metal, rock, pop, acoustic, classic, celtic, soft, strong, hard, every range from low to high, with always this natural and easy vibrato.... She's killing me EVERY time since so many years! And she's such a beautiful human being.
The Gathering is my top band ever. And Anneke is by far my favorite singer. If you are just starting your journey into the gathering. You should make sure to check out the studio recordings too. Her harmonies, layers, and backgrounds she puts in are AMAZING. That’s the one thing you don’t get to hear in the live recordings.
Waking Hour from this same show is IN-CRE-DI-BLE! There's even what I'd call a vocal "solo" in there that really needs to be heard. Great reaction, thank you!
Anneke was an inspiration for Floor in that she fronted a rock/metal band while being a Dutch woman. But Floor never aspired or intended to sound like Anneke, they are completely different singers. Anyway, now that you've seen both Devin and Anneke you could check then both together. I recommend "grace".

@@stevenmackintosh8160 No, she didnt, Anneke has never been a "bigger is better" type singer. Floor was always much "beltier", she has a more agressive tone. If Anything Floor now sounds closer to Anneke than she did in the After Forever years since her vocals have become less agressive, though they are still hardly similar at all.
The era with her in the band is music at its best. I was lucky enough to catch them live in 1999 on their only tour of US. Do more videos of The Gathering with her in vocals...
One of her most gorgeous songs is "You Learn About It". Oh man, that chorus is so shimmering and beautiful, I've shed tears on it each time I've heard it. Her tone, range, timbre and vocal power are freaking unbelievable! Her emotion hits my heart strings so much, and then I start thinking of my late mother who passed last year. (Lord, I still miss her!) To my ears, I hear The Gathering as like a mix of post-punk like The Cure, Siouxsie and The Cranberries with a heavy dose of goth-inspired metal. She's like an angel who's come down to earth to shed her musical light upon the masses. My regret is that I didn't get turned on to a lot of symphonic or power metal until the last year or so, and missed my chance to see her in the 90s or 00s when they toured with Lacuna Coil. Other than that, not sure how often they toured the States, but they had to be a big sensation in their homeland of the Netherlands. At that time however, they just weren't on my radar in, as I was into other music genres, and not as much into the deeper progressive metal or metal sub-genres. "Into the Electric Castle" by Ayreon is a total masterpiece, and that was the first time I ever heard the amazing talent of Anneke on tracks like "The Valley of Queens" and "The Garden of Emotions". I was like, WHO IS THAT?!!? I liked the other female vocalist Sharon, but I had to listen to more of Anneke, and that's how I discovered The Gathering. I can't get enough of that band. Every track is truly mind blowing! Thank you for sharing your thoughts and emotions on Anneke's vocals. She is up there now as in my top favorite female vocalists of all time, certainly of any metal genre or sub-genre.
Anneke van Giersbergen is all the good on Earth. From the same show, the songs “Paper waves” and Nighttime birds” are amazing. Thanks for this reaction
Saw her live in juli as an opening act for Floor in the Soestdijk palace gardens. What a gorgeos night that was, together with my three kids. One lovely sunny evening in an otherwise very wet couple of weeks. Btw this song is an ode to Mozart.
I love her voice and this song too! This is simply transcendental. And that note on ''I wish you ...'' is indeed the highlight and that's when the song hits climax the too. Your analysis is awesome too.
Anneke, and the Gathering, are also not known that much here in England. I think it is a travesty that they have not broken into the UK and USA markets as well as they deserve. They are truly awesome.
many decades ago I started with Annie Haslam (Renaissance) and wound up here with Anneke vG (The Gathering) and Floor J (Nightwish) ... simply fantastic vocalists .. Thank You Keith Chicago IL
not only does she have a gorgeous voice with tremendous range, her stage presence is simply unmatched. she's so comfortable and happy to be up there. she's in complete control and can do absolutely anything. this is a magical song, and i really love how all the former band members came out at the end to partake in a very special show. marike groot is also a VERY special vocalist, and very different from anneke!
She has a dreamlike quality at times. I saw her life last week in the Floor Jansen concert. She did the opening program with some of her own solo work and some songs from her band and some covers. A bit of every thing accompanied by just her guitar. I knew of her but that was all, seen her on Aryeon , in valley of the queens. In real life she is so humble, down to earth and has a good sense of humor in her small talk between numbers. I became an instant fan. Love her here.
The band started as death metal and with Bart Smits on vocals (recorded demos in 1990 and 91). In 1992, they recorded their debut with female vocals by Marike Groot (wearing a light blouse at the end of the video) and Bart (the one with the shaved head). It was considered death/doom, dsbm and a hint of goth. In 1993 the vocalist was Martina Van den Loon (lyricist for two songs), still with Bart. Anneke joined in 1995 and the band no longer had male vocals. She therefore stopped having two vocals and changed the style to something like Trip Metal (?). Beauty and the Beast-style vocals began with the pioneering 1994 Theater of Tragedy featuring singer Liv Kristine. ua-cam.com/video/P4nTIXMmLYg/v-deo.html , the lines in this video are in the studio version. But the first band that mixed metal + doom + death + gothic was The Third and the Mortal with vocals by Kari Rueslatten. ua-cam.com/video/wA8l8QM0gow/v-deo.html this version of a band song made by Kari together with Tuomas (Nightwish). After Kari, an opera singer, Ann-Mari Edvardsen, joined in 1995, on this video ua-cam.com/video/CJz5gxJSk2Y/v-deo.html the year Anneke joined TG. Kari is an Irish folk voice and Liv is a clear soprano.
Should add that TG's current singer is Silje Wergeland, and it looks like she appears on there on stage as well, first visible at 12:43 ... I'm guessing they invited all their previous singers for this special concert.
Correction: In 1993, the male (and lead) vocalist was Niels Duffhues, and in fact, the band's second album, "Almost A Dance", was recorded with him on vocals; Martine was never credited as an official member of the band.
@@eckligt This concert was made to commemorate the 25 years of the band, each song they played, they played it with the members who recorded it on each album, so, in this one, for example, they played: Anneke (vocals), René Rutten (guitar), Hans Rutten (drums), Frank Boeijen (keyboards) and Hugo Prinsen Geerligs (bass). The ones who join at the end are the other members/ex-members: Silje Wergeland (vocalis), Marjolein Kooijman (at that time, she was the official bassist, after that she left the band and Hugo became a member again), Jelmer Wiersma (ex-guitarist), Bart Smits (ex-voalist) and Marike Groot (ex-vocalist).
Such an epic song... Travelled around the Netherlands many, many times to see them live 😊. And in October 2024, will hear Anneke again in Haarlem. She is 🔥
Anneke is fantastic. Such power and warmth. I have been a fan for 20 years. Another great Dutch singer is Wende. She sings Fado, Chansons and her latest song is, "Dit is alles". Completely different from what she did before, but still mesmerizing.
Anneke is among my favorite vocalists. She never fails to convey warmth with her tone in anything she does. Even her sadder songs have a tinge of warmth to them. Additionally, you can just tell she loves what she does. A very genuine person.
I knew the Gathering even before Anneke joined, when that tall bold guy was their singer. A few of the members attended at the same highschool as me. At the time The Gathering was viewed to be just another local band. In every newspaper and tv-broadcast it was The Gathering from Oss. From Oss. Always that remark to keep it regional and local. This concert was in Nijmegen, 25 years later, but only 20 km’s from Oss. This band was ssO much bigger, this song is such an piece of art. All the singers who ever were part of this band were on that stage. By the way… Floor Jansen is from Veghel, which is only 25 km from the town of Oss. She was inspired by this band’s performance at Pinkpop festival 1996. I think Oss should be renamed to Oz.
Anneke is so amazing Live. I have seen her perform with The Gathering and as a solo act. She is so comfortable on stage, and her voice is amazing. I would recommend her duet with Sharon den Adel from Within Temptation on their track “Somewhere” live. 😊
I was there :-) high on antibiotics lol.... Fantastic concert. Only annoying part was when the guitar player started talking gibberish multiple times heheh
Anneke has a capital L - Love of music and performing with as many people as she can collaborate with. She's been featured on many Devin Townsend albums and has projects with many bands. Her solo pop stylings are like a sinful dessert, so catchy and so fun. (Hey Okay! and Take Me Home come to mind)
Anneke, besides being an awesome and versatile vocalist, is often credited as a great influence on women in metal, redefining in early 90s the model of a successful hard rock/metal front woman, expanding beyond the more "traditional" Ann Wilson, Lita Ford, Joan Jett, or Doro templates. In the 90s, The Gathering helped propel Within Temptation, greatly inspired nascent NIghtwish, prompted Floor Jansen to join After Forever, her first metal band. Their influence is still going - consider checking out Oceans of Slumber, a Houston band greatly influenced by The Gathering and Anneke. Another amazing vocalist with an uncommon style for the genre and an Ayreon contribution. I suspect you'd really enjoy their original Return to Earth Below or covers of Solitude or Strange Fruit.
In July she is live near my home....... Floor is headlining that evening so 2 of my favorite singers in only 10 minutes from home and I got the tickets. (held in the garden of a former royal palace in Soestdijk, the Netherlands...... what a gorgious place, seen other bands there too. Can`t wait.
Floor and Anneke are from the same province in the Netherlands. Must be something in the water. Floor has said Anneke, who is a decade or so older, was an inspiration to her. She said Anneke proved a female could front a successful Metal band. Anneke was front woman for The Gathering starting in the mid 90s and lasting for about 10 years before she left. This concert was a reunion concert where Anneke returned to sing with the band she had left several years previously. Where Floor fronts a Symphonic Metal band, the Gathering I would term “Melancholy Metal.” Travel is a perfect example of this. Also check out “On most Surfaces” and “Waking Hour” from this same concert.
In her TG-period it is known that it got to Anneke as well. 3 of 5 new singers are the first singer Bart Smits of TG and the present singer Silje Wergeland. Lady in yellow top is, I think, Marike Groot. On the rightside are Marjolijn Kooijman (bassist and backing vocals) and Jelmer Wiersma (guitar)
Its a joy to watch and hear you "getting off" on some of my own favourite artists. May I say you have a lovely smile, attractiveness make these viewings even more enjoyable. So I was delighted to watch YOU discover why some of us beleive Anneke is one of the greatest singers on this planet. Her talent spans to whom she chooses to play with too. The Gathering was an immense experience for her, but she has sung with others too and that shows how sensitive a performer she can be. As you've captured my curiosity with your style (and smile :-) ) then I wanted to share with you two links that you might not have seen of Anneke singing to our heart strings. This first link is a very different performance of the song you reviewed here, Travel. This time she sings it with an Orchestra. Enjoy ua-cam.com/video/Q72zXeAbwQw/v-deo.html The second song is shared with Danny Cavanagh . You can find quite a few videos of them together but I like this because of its intimacy. its a delicious melody and I can feel Anneke's joy singing for us all. ua-cam.com/video/bFKmS_t4qck/v-deo.html I'm happy you've discovered her, I'm happy I did. I'm happy we're alive and sharing this astonishing performance. Anneke, I hope you see how much it matters. Your music will live forever and we're blinded by the light inside of you. Shine on.
NEVER hesitate to go stop, tell us about what you hear, go back a little bit and pursue with the song. That's we we want from a reaction by a vocal coach : expertise If I wanna hear the song, I can play the video alone (and actually, often times that's what I do: before watching a reaction from a vocal coach, I watch the video alone) but If I watch a reaction from a vocal coach, I want him/her to tell me about vocal techniques, placement, breath control, etc.
Watch the concert from 2007. Shot in Chile of their last grand tour with Anneke before she went off to have a baby and a solo career. The song 'A Noise Severe' is performed with a different small voice entirely. It took me a few listens to realise it is about a women developing Altimeter's. There has been a running debate concerning what genre The Gathering occupy. They are just The Gathering. Not like anyone else. It is also literature. If anything I would say they are empathic metal. But there is no such thing...Another band that had a struggle with branding by the industry is a Lithuanian band that did the best thing to the question, "What the hell kinda Metal is this? They called themselves, Zalvarinis (the word for bronze in Lithuanian. Hehe.) They deserve a listen too. Zalvarinis' 2018 concert is an amazing experience, where they pull out all the stops.
Excellent reaction, did you know that Anneke is one of the inspirations of Floor Jansen? She was one of the first female Netherlander singers that played rock and metal, this show is the 25th anniversary if the band she was member of.
Marcela Bovio was the backround and co-singer in different anneke-projects with Arjen Lucassen. Anneke van Giersbergen started with the band The Gathering in the middle 94 to 2007 as their second singer. After this period she started a solo time with different projects beside and with metal. And the singers in the end was all lead- and now guestsingers of the band The gathering 🙂

She also did have her own rockband, it is a bit less metal and such but if you want to catch up with it, it was called Aqua d'Annique, made about 2 albums as i recall...
The respect and reverence that this song shows towards Mozart is just incredible.
Absolument!
Thank you.
And there is so much to see and hear....with devin townsend, and with with in temptation.....love Anneke!!!
Anneke has been my favourite female vocalist for more than 25 years and this song is one of her best!
Idem
This song/perfomance makes me weep every single time, it's beyond incredible
uhhh the sweet and legendary Anneke. She is definitely an institution in the world of female metal music, and this concert was a love letter to the fans of The Gathering Band. Please, you should react to ''Waking Hour (Live)'' from this show, it's just another great piece with this stunning woman. Btw, I love your reactions and contributions
Waking hour from same concert is also a beauty. Nice reaction to listen and watch

Yes!
Anneke van Giersbergen was definitely an inspiration for Floor, not so much in the sound but more the fact she was a singer in a metalband.
Young Floor did copy Young Annekes style though. it's very obvious in the first After Forever albums lol. Young Anneke didn't sing like in this video, she just belted everything like Floor does when she not being a bad Tarja copy.

I am not a vocal coach, but I can help you out. The sound that you couldn’t put your finger on, is called, Anneke. 😉
Her voice is unique. I am happy that I get to see her soon at a concert in The Netherlands where she will preform as supporting act to Floor.
How lucky am I.

Still so much to hear from both Anneke and Marcela! See you very soon.
OMG!!! Finally someone has reacted to The Gathering!! I love this band!
I had the pleasure of seeing her live twice in Chile, and it is moving to witness this wonderful and beautiful woman in person, she is gorgeous and extremely talented, very nice too, she has a very particular charisma, I love her.
Actually Floor considers her as a big influence. The Gathering and Anneke are legendary and such an inspiration for many acts that came after.
Ye, the grandma of the whole scene basically:)
Have they?)
@@TheSeeking2know You really didn't know ?!?!?! She has been an integral part of at least six of Devin's studio albums, and many live appearances, not least of which is ...

@@TheSeeking2know Anneke en Devin did work together. A few examples: ua-cam.com/video/cN6fHdPvEu0/v-deo.html and ua-cam.com/video/Rok8QPT9NO4/v-deo.html
The performance of Travel at TG25 was incredible. She had so much passion, emotion and energy. I have never seen singing like it.
Great reaction, thank you!
waking hour is vocal gymnastics, a must listen to for a vocal coach.. !!
I concur!
Waking Hour is definitely a must-listen!
YES DEFINITELY!!!!
Waking Hour ua-cam.com/video/pUKBV8M_XXE/v-deo.html
Anneke was an inspiration for Floor in that she fronted a rock/metal band while being a Dutch woman. But Floor never aspired or intended to sound like Anneke, they are completely different singers.
Anyway, now that you've seen both Devin and Anneke you could check then both together. I recommend "grace".
Young Floor did copy Young Annekes style though. it's very obvious in the first After Forever albums lol. Young Anneke didn't sing like in this video, she just belted everything like Floor does when she was not being a bad Tarja copy.

Anneke van Giersbergen……. The godmother off all female metal/symphonic vocalists. Floor was inspired by Anneke, who she adored!
The era with her in the band is music at its best. I was lucky enough to catch them live in 1999 on their only tour of US. Do more videos of The Gathering with her in vocals...
Try anything from the "By a thread" concert with Devin Townsend, absolute musical magic.
Yesssss🤘! Next stop " strange machines" live at Pinkpop please 🙂.
That is fun but lets be honest, she has got a lot better as a singer since 1996.
@@stevenmackintosh8160 eveyone who knows both videos knows that 🙂.

Anneke is sooooo unknown in the US. Her voice is on a whole other level of beauty and abnormally masterful.
Anneke, and the Gathering, are also not known that much here in England. I think it is a travesty that they have not broken into the UK and USA markets as well as they deserve. They are truly awesome.
@@simonrichmond4935 I know right?
Let the US sleep on and dream of Taylor. Their loss.
many decades ago I started with Annie Haslam (Renaissance) and wound up here with Anneke vG (The Gathering) and Floor J (Nightwish) ... simply fantastic vocalists .. Thank You Keith Chicago IL
A stupendous performance of a truly stunning song. Always moves me. Thanks for this reaction Bethany.
not only does she have a gorgeous voice with tremendous range, her stage presence is simply unmatched. she's so comfortable and happy to be up there. she's in complete control and can do absolutely anything. this is a magical song, and i really love how all the former band members came out at the end to partake in a very special show. marike groot is also a VERY special vocalist, and very different from anneke!
Note that Liv, Kari and Anneke teamed up as 'The Sirens' at some point.
Correction:
In 1993, the male (and lead) vocalist was Niels Duffhues, and in fact, the band's second album, "Almost A Dance", was recorded with him on vocals; Martine was never credited as an official member of the band.

Wow, cant believe you did my most favorite music video on internet, great reaction! Anneke is the best!
I was listening to this again today. I must've listened to it hundreds of times over the past 20 years. It's an amazing song.
Such an epic song... Travelled around the Netherlands many, many times to see them live 😊. And in October 2024, will hear Anneke again in Haarlem. She is 🔥
This song it’s a truly masterpiece, all of it
I had the great pleasure and honor to witness Anneke and The Gathering live many many years ago, an unforgettable experience
Anneke is fantastic. Such power and warmth. I have been a fan for 20 years. Another great Dutch singer is Wende. She sings Fado, Chansons and her latest song is, "Dit is alles". Completely different from what she did before, but still mesmerizing.
She's absolutely awesome, I can so see why she & Devvy get along so well.
Anneke is among my favorite vocalists. She never fails to convey warmth with her tone in anything she does. Even her sadder songs have a tinge of warmth to them. Additionally, you can just tell she loves what she does. A very genuine person.
Anneke? Finally! Pls, do more of her.
Love love love!! the best voice ever
Anneke is a force of nature!
I was there :-) high on antibiotics lol....
Fantastic concert. Only annoying part was when the guitar player started talking gibberish multiple times heheh
Waking hour from this same show is the truly vocal masterpiece from Anneke. Looking forward to you react to that ☺️

Can`t wait.

@@joslauwers7960 too bad we have to wait a year because of the complications in Floor`s pregnancy. But we`re patient people.......
When there are no words to discribe a sound its very spiritual and resonates with spirit...nice!
I love the feel of her slightly sharp sustained notes. It gives so much power.
Its an amazing piece of music, as you say oh so so powerful whether its played by a rock group or an Orchestra, Anneke's voice multiplies the power of the song so much. Enjoy ua-cam.com/video/Q72zXeAbwQw/v-deo.html
The second song is shared with Danny Cavanagh . You can find quite a few videos of them together but I like this because of its intimacy. its a delicious melody and I can feel Anneke's joy singing for us all. ua-cam.com/video/bFKmS_t4qck/v-deo.html
I'm happy you've discovered her, I'm happy I did. I'm happy we're alive and sharing this astonishing performance.
Anneke, I hope you see how much it matters. Your music will live forever and we're blinded by the light inside of you. Shine on.
Metal Matriarch of the Netherlands 🇳🇱
The Gathering with Anneke stays forever 😢
NEVER hesitate to go stop, tell us about what you hear, go back a little bit and pursue with the song. That's we we want from a reaction by a vocal coach : expertise
If I wanna hear the song, I can play the video alone (and actually, often times that's what I do: before watching a reaction from a vocal coach, I watch the video alone) but If I watch a reaction from a vocal coach, I want him/her to tell me about vocal techniques, placement, breath control, etc.
Next month, may 2023, Floor and Anneke are touring together in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. What a fun.
Best Dutch song ever. For me at least 🙂
Anneke, the tiny lady with the huge versatile voice.
Personally i am a sucker for Epica hehehe. But Anneke is a real gem. We are really lucky in the Netherlands with this genre singers :-))
Hi Anneke has a Acoustic album and its amazing. Anneke is Beautiful. Anneke sings this song with an orchestra
