Elphael for me was the saddest area. Leyndell and Caelid have their own level of destruction, but seeing the Haligtree in that condition made me think there's nothing much to do to fix things, you have to burn the Haligtree, that thing is comoletely rotten and cannot be healed anymore.
If you look at the map, Miquella is just about as far from his Haligtree as he could get. At the southern edge of the lands between while his Haligtree is at the far reaches of the north. Deep underground, with his arm stretched out to a dark cavern while the Haligtree's branches reach out into the beautiful sky.
Heartbreaking to know that by reaching this far in Elden Ring you become so close to the end of one of the most beautiful video games in history, only to visit the areas again but realize how empty they become with most of the major characters gone, defeated or dead 💔
tbh by that moment I got overfed by going through the game (felt like it was too big combined with repetitiveness of enemies, especially after engaging with these damn bugs again in Elphael) and wanted to finish it quickly. So I didn't explore about 30% of the Elphael and probably 50% or more of the secret snow location that led to it. Not sure why they invested so much into making unique and cool looking location, while cheaping out of enemy variety.
Elphael is so fucking sad. It looks like it would be such a vibrant and bustling place with it’s streets and many doorways and buildings, and yet, without Miquella, a beacon of optimism, hope and love, it’s just as stagnant as any other part of the world, and it feels like the entire city aches with this bitterness; it’s so beautiful, but all it’s potential and hope for a future was ripped away. It emits a similar energy to a household that has lost a young child. My favorite legacy dungeon in the game, it has amazing geometry, elegant design, and it has my favorite boss in the game, which also happens to be the hardest Fromsoft has ever put out. I love it. … but fuck that Ulcerated Tree Spirit in that Scarlet Rot pool. It can eat shit and die.
it recently got to me that, out of all places in elden ring elphael actually *rots* away in real time. Caelid already is essentially dead with rot but the hailigtree is in the early process of it. Its only a matter of time before the tree collapses in of itself and all that will be left is a tree stump, just like in the middle of caelid- with malenia the goddess of rot in the middle. It just goes to show how powerful the god of rot has gotten because of the time the game finds itself in. The world has gone stagnant, and that outer god grows stronger with each passing day as he tries to slowly kill anything that can elevate an elden lord to replace marika, except of course its own agents including malenia. From all the antagonists in the game, the outer god of rot/godwyn and the three fingers are the most dangerous ones- as they revel and grow in a world inable to unify together to stop them.

Elphael leaves you mesmerized with how beautiful it is in its quiet despair. After seeing Leyndell and its lost glory you think that nothing could possibly top the majesty of the holy capital of the Erdtree. How the Golden City tells its story without a word, how upon closer inspection the cracks in the order begin to show. The neglected slums of the lower city, the caved in roofs, the thousands of bodies of citizens and prophets gone mad, and the echoes of serenity that sing throughout its once great streets as you realize hope evaporated when their faith withered. Leyndell's last soft whimpers sound as it waits for someone, anyone, to come save it from itself and regain its glory. Then you arrive here to this place. Elphael, a secret city of salvation and sanctuary. A place of promises and dreams. The promised land for the orphans of the Golden Order, and the place of final hope in this desolate war. You heard whispers of it throughout the game, the place that everyone was willing to die for in order to get there. That hope that Leyndell gave up was present in the people it persecuted or shunned... and now you're finally here. And you find a great tree withered, rotted, dead. A city that could have rivaled the holy capital and was on the cusp of greatness left to rot in abject solemn despair. But unlike Leyndell, Elphael does not mewl or cry out in sadness. Its beauty is in its absconded potential. It sits quietly, painfully, as it has no glory to miss. It never gained any. Its chance was stolen. It is already dead. So it fades hidden from view with no songs or echoes to announce its passing, here on the edge of the world to the knowledge of no one... Shadow of the Erdtree: In the Land of Shadow we sought answers to the questions this failed city left behind. We sought its creator and caretaker, who was stolen from his cradle of a new civilization, or so we thought… Elphael’s roots were not stolen. They simply were never meant to be. The rotted tree was abandoned, left to wither and die at the hands of the sister. All the faith its inhabitants placed in its creator was squandered. Now we see. This place was merely a stepping stone to greater power. This haven was always meant to be thrown away, casted aside, in favor of new majesty. Truly, the forsaken haven for the desperate and rejected, as the city itself is indeed an unwanted orphan. The music plays softly. Elphael is truly a crumbling monument to the strays and the deserted. They gave their faith to their lord, everything they ever had, and in return they were left to rot. And so the music plays softly, mourning the loss of their lord instead of cursing him for his abandonment of his greatest and most devoted followers…

The part of Elphael where you enter the tree with the cracks of light peering through is breathtaking. You’re met with juxtaposed themes of life and death, such as the rot swamp with butterflies in the foreground, flowers blooming in ashy terrain, crumbling architecture overgrown with vines. Great use of environmental storytelling storytelling.

I broke down, and cried SO HARD, and I'm not exactly complaining or anything...but DAMN does it fucking HURT SO MUCH that you cannot tell Malenia where Miquella is, even if you beat Mohg first!
I regularly visit the Haligtree more than any other area in the game just because the ambience and the music here give me chills every time I visit. I just get dowsed in absolute awe I don’t know what it is.
It’s as if the devs knew how we would feel getting here…the bitter sweet knowledge that we were about to finish what many consider the greatest game of all time.
Well considering it's a completely optional area, I don't think that's what they had in mind. Personally, I think this sounds so melancholic because it envisions Miquella's shattered dream. Miquella wanted to cure his sister of her rot, and provide a place where all could live and thrive, no matter how shunned they were by the Golden Order. Elphael is a place that held so much potential for life and a new order, and here it is now, dejected and decaying after Miquella was stolen away. Any hope that was once here completely snuffed out.
It's as if the devs knew they were running out of budget and had to cut out all of the lore and content for the most poster heavy character in the game...the bitter sweet knowledge that we were spared from another cookie cutter region with reused assets and pointless platforming.
I was a bit out of touch with the lore because I kept taking breaks in between when playing this game and I would forget certain pieces. Despite that, I enjoyed it thoroughly even though I didn’t fully understand. I figured that was the part of the fun anyways. The only thing I knew about Malenia was her infamous difficulty and being here was a build up to that. Eventually, I (SOMEHOW) beat her and was exhilarated about it all. But I remembered being captivated by the music, as if it was telling me something… more. After I beat Elden ring, I left it for awhile. A few months later, I decided to come back to it with a fresh start and started finally paying attention to the details now that hype is relit by the upcoming DLC. Then I realized Mohg said the name “Miquella” to that weird ominous looking cocoon. I started to get confused… thinking maybe it was just a name I’m mistaking because all these Demi-god names are so god damn similar. When I fought him in the first playthrough, I just thought “Oh, cool. A dark lord who’s probably trying to revive his wife or whatever.” Long story short, I then started to piece everything together. Everything started to make sense now. Malenia. Blade Of *Miquella*. Mohg’s fucking dynasty. The music’s somber tone. And the realization of what I had done. No, it wasn’t about me about to end the fucking game, it wasn’t about it being fucking over. It was about the loss of a child. A child who (as far as we know) wanted nothing more than to create this utopia for everybody. I’m very glad I did it before I knew, so that I can enjoy the rewards. Because for new playthroughs, now I can’t bring myself to go to Ephael. At least not to kill Malenia… or to kill anything there at all. This place was this kid’s heart. Heart of gold that just wanted everything to thrive while the other demigods were doing their own shit (bad and good) while Miquella’s vision was unironically simple. Malenia being extremely difficult makes immense sense. Of course she is. Malenia was like a mother-figure to her beloved brother and that kind of bond is not something to be taken lightly. And given how pure and benevolent Miquella sounded like before things got screwed up, it was nice knowing the kid had a badass for a blade… because he deserved it. The twins and this location has now captivated me more than many other characters did in this game (which is saying a lot)… and has brought my full attention to the lore and story and now I understand everything. One things for certain though, whenever I start a new playthrough, I’m killing that pedophilic period-monster shitbag in every single one. I can’t wait for the DLC… and yes, I am naively hoping for a good ending for Miquella… even though there’s a chance there might not be. But fuck it all… I want it…
the whole game looks like a work of art but this place gave me chills. seriously, these graphic artists and designers are on another level, they make most other rpgs and digital fantasy worlds look like generic kiddie crap. it's hard to put the sheer amount of epicness of this game in words.
It makes sense, actually. Miquella has lived in Leyndell with his family, but then rejected the Golden Order since they couldn’t save Malenia, and probably due to how they treat the Misbegotten and other “impure” races, since Miquella, after all, left to create a haven for the meek and the frail, in opposition to the Order’s immoral view on life. Yet despite all of that, he still remains the son of the lords of Leyndell
One of the most underrated levels in all of soulsborne. The second half is pretty meh, but the first half is the best level design they've ever done, in my opinion. So many different paths, and verticality handled so well. Also it's fucking hysterical seeing all the comments that were like "Aw man, it's so sad that Miquella isn't here, this place would be so nice with him around" after the DLC.
Really wish I hadn’t dropped this game on release, after seeing the amazing lore graphics and music I got back into it (similar thing happened with League) my only complaint is there’s not enough cutscenes and non hostile settlements
such a fascinating and impressing place, atmosphere and musical piece. having caught up on berserk now it was really interesting to look for elden rings connections to the manga, so for example similarities of elphael and elfhelm. obviously, elden ring uses multiple different themes from berserk as inspiration and mixes them up, expands on them etc, but ever since i started to read the manga i have been wondering to what extend miquella was inspired by griffith. will his story proceed to take an even more comparable direction or will we see another branching timeline and alternate version of what could have been? miquella seems like a character who has practiced many different things over the time. for what purpose exactly? will it be femto rising from the cocoon? i really look forward to the dlc and what it will bring us and at the same time i am sure it will be nothing short of heartbreaking, too
Eu ouvi essa trilha , e senti ela profundamente quando ao terminar a missao secundaria da millicent eu escolhi desafiar a mesma , ao final de tudo pude ouvir ela dizendo : foi tudo para isso ? E essa trilha sonora me rasgando a alma !
Miquella was not a selfish manipulator. I can't stand players trying to push this narrative with all the evidence shown to us. He was disillusioned with his mother's way, and the draw of the Elden Beast. His rune outright states that in it's destroyed state all it could do was refuse charms. Which means, much like Ranni, Miquella was out to actually change things. All great runes have effects based on who they are inside. Godrick raised his stats because he was weak, Radahn bolstered his strength; Rykard was ravenous, etc. Miquella was cursed to eternal childhood, and so his rune protected him from danger the only way it could; charm. Infatuating charm. It indeed protected him until the very end. It wasn't until the very end, when he cast aside his love, that he lost sight of his goal.
I am waiting to finish saving money to build a PC that can support 1080P 60FPS at Max setting to just do this, to feel a sense of awe looking at the art that says there can be peace and hope even among all the losses we face.
You should be happy to be here. You are the part of the Elden ring. The lord which can return the.. Grace. Elden ring is the second from game, when player arriving is a sign of ORDER coming again. That would be Miquella, he wanted to create a sanctuary for people shunned by The Golden Order, which is why you see many Misbegotten praying for his return, as they all loved him

This soundtrack gives me more Melenia-flashbacks than her actual theme song. Maybe it’s because this is what you hear after every excruciating death…
For real bro, people talking about all this deep lore shit but this is what i came here for.
Malenia's glory, her pride, her memories, occluded by the rot yet trying to break through, only to fail

Ironic how a place this serene has arguably the most vicious, nightmarishly difficult enemy encounter design in the whole game
Im close to the end knowing i won't experience such a masterpiece again 😢 makes me so sad ...
Trust me in the newer playthroughs, haligtree just gets harder and harder
Sitting in that exact same spot while waiting for Miquella's DLC. It can't come soon enough!
The music resonates with the tension between what could have been and what inevitably must be.
A dark lord who’s probably trying to revive his wife or whatever.”
Long story short, I then started to piece everything together.

The Most Beauty Area in Elden Ring i Love the atmosphere
the whole game looks like a work of art but this place gave me chills.
seriously, these graphic artists and designers are on another level, they make most other rpgs and digital fantasy worlds look like generic kiddie crap.
it's hard to put the sheer amount of epicness of this game in words.
the ambience and this theme really remind me of the leyndell theme but maybe in a mirror/opposite way? I like em alot.

I mean it would.
Really wish I hadn’t dropped this game on release, after seeing the amazing lore graphics and music I got back into it (similar thing happened with League) my only complaint is there’s not enough cutscenes and non hostile settlements
this the place where darkness was outmatched... despair ruled.
Always gave me ringed city vibes
THIS IS GOLD. Thank you. ✨🎶
such a fascinating and impressing place, atmosphere and musical piece.
having caught up on berserk now it was really interesting to look for elden rings connections to the manga, so for example similarities of elphael and elfhelm.
obviously, elden ring uses multiple different themes from berserk as inspiration and mixes them up, expands on them etc, but ever since i started to read the manga i have been wondering to what extend miquella was inspired by griffith. will his story proceed to take an even more comparable direction or will we see another branching timeline and alternate version of what could have been? miquella seems like a character who has practiced many different things over the time. for what purpose exactly? will it be femto rising from the cocoon? i really look forward to the dlc and what it will bring us and at the same time i am sure it will be nothing short of heartbreaking, too
Miss her.
My favourite area of all time ❤
I dont think ill ever find a game with as much impact as elden ring
I don't love this theme as much as the one for Miquella's Haligtree, but then again i did get pretty traumatized by revenants and the boys
Ah yes, Malenia’s faithful Haligtree legion: T H E B O Y S
Praying room and she's there i want that talisman every i see her i go to another place
By own human hands, world would be rebuilt a new.
Players would burn the rot. Clean the parasites, exterminate the stupid ones, that are the problem for the mankind.
This game is just shouting Mankind F*ck yea. Even in times of despair and darkness , one man can change everything by his struggle.
From games are always about berserk and you are always guts.
Be proud of it Tarnished. you are the saving grace.
i wonder why malenia decided to build a city around the haligtree
That would be Miquella, he wanted to create a sanctuary for people shunned by The Golden Order, which is why you see many Misbegotten praying for his return, as they all loved him
Came back here after the dlc thinking it would be easier. lol
Are you able to put all these ambience videos of Elden Ring in a single playlist?

what cloak is this?
It is the chest armor from the Ronin Set, obtained by either killing:
1) Yura, the Ronin (First seen in Limgrave)
2) Shabriri (directly next to the first Mountaintops of the Giants grace)
is this game good? It looks amazing but I hate games that are too hard. Is this harder than say, Skyrim?
Its hard but never unfair, if you are quick to learn what your mistakes are you'll be good at the gsme in no time. Also in this game compared to its previous counterparts its easier to go somewhere else and level up your character. Also don't be afraid to look up on how to upgrade your gear once you're 20 hours 30 hours into the game.
If you decide not to look anything up your first playthrough might take you 200 hours plus. Many people say this game is trial and error but if you play cautiously and smart you can do alot of things in first try
@@Xivinux Thank you! I think I might give it a go then. I’m genuinely rotten at gaming, but really do enjoy it nonetheless. I’m old. Skyrim took me almost two years to complete the main quest… but I really loved it and play it all the time, but I could use a fresh challenge and this does look incredible.
@@_indrid_cold_ You won't find any towns or villages like in Skyrim, this is a very combat focussed game, however you will find alot of beautiful places to explore like skyrim does. There aren't many people to talk to and the story is very limited compared to Skyrim. If you love the combat and enjoy exploring interesting places you'll love the game.
The game is incredible and easier than some other Fromsoft games (because of how much you can customize your character's playstyle and the opportunity to grind levels if you need to), but if you're having trouble to the point of frustration I'd honestly say just mod it! there are great mods that allow you to play the game at a level that works for you and exploring the map firsthand is a really enjoyable experience :)
LMAO have you been living under a fucking rock

I am really liking Elden Ring afyer I use a save mod, however the music could be better, I mean it has everything to be the Witcher 3 or the Skyrim oc this generation, but the music could be better. More memorable ...
I guess the point for Elden rings ambient music is to be... well.. Ambient.
It seems they focused more on immersion with the background tracks, rather than the music
@@zUGGxz just think it was a miss oportunity... Music elevates games so much, Skyrim is ambient music but is so memorable and awesome. But Zelda Breat of the Wild is ambient only and I don`t care for it which is a shame in my opinion. MORE GREAT MUSIC IN VIDEO GAMES PLEASE!!! HAHA
