    One thing that seems to be missed is keeping a stock of high-quality multivitamin tablets. Yes - we all know fresh food and a varied diet is best...of course. I like the Solgar brand.

    I bought about 3 years worth back when 10kg of basmati was 10.99 in lidl. I only eat rice maybe twice a week so I didn't need massive amounts 😊

    We have a LOT put away, along with beans, cans(tins) of food, home-canned meats, dehydrated foods and even other grains, but we still bought 25 lbs (11.33kg) more and when someone offered me 2 lbs,(.9 kg), I took it. I also bought more grain. (I have quinoa, buckwheat, oatmeal, grits and cornmeal, barley, some amaranth, and millets.)I have pasta like crazy, but you can't beat rice for its versatility and storage.

    You're right,, it will either be in short supply,, or pricey, either way it's best to stock up now on rice, pastas, and plain instant potatoes, as these are good high carb fillers. Add any one of these along with canned or frozen veggies, and a protein,, and you have a meal.😉

    Our rice in lidl went up 20% in 1 go! Was 99c per kg, now €1.19. No doubt when I go in tomorrow it'll be up more. Even aldi milk chocolate 200g (I use for baking) used to be 79c then crept up bit by bit. Now it's jumped from €1.59 to €1.75! So over double the price

    You are right. Shortages will create price increases. The wealthy nations will absorb that. The poor nations will not be able to compete as their resources are slim and needed goods few. We worried about sending vaccines to Africa when they needed clean water and mosquito nets. Now we are pouring endless money into a stalemated war rather than work toward peace; a peace that would give us resources to grow more food, mitigate famine and treat disease. The powerful truly have things backwards. Thanks Ana!

      @@timbuktupond apparently you rinse the rice put in vacuum flask put in appropriate amount of boiling water and salt if wanted close flask and leave for 3 hours or so till desired softness. That's what I read haven't tried it yet though

      @@timbuktupond It's really easy. I have a 470 ml flask with a wide mouth. I put 1/3rd cup of rice into it
      & top it up with freshly boiled water. Leave white rice for 45 minutes & brown rice for 1 hour 30 mins. This also works with spaghetti - same process but leave for just 20 minutes. Pasta shapes like penne & shells don't really come out cooked. Don't use a flask with a narrow mouth designed for tea or coffee. It can be a nightmare to get the food out once cooked. I hope this helps.

    I vacuum sealed about another 8kg the other day. I probably have about 60lb of rice, need to do a proper inventory, I have more lists everywhere! I only ever bought uncle bens but switched to lidl brand about 1 or 2 yrs ago, no difference and huge savings. Also have about 80lbs of flour. Went into Dealz yesterday (poundland) and a pot noodle went from €1 to €1.50 in a matter of weeks!! Supermarkets have been given a deadline here to get prices down, we'll see if that happens

    • @AnasFoodLifestyle
      @AnasFoodLifestyle  Рік тому +1

      That’s a good idea . Supermarkets are deliberately gouging the prices , the need to told or even fined for bad practices
