Oh my goodness. Man those tops are just beautiful. I love rosewood tops. Your necks are awesome as well. Man you are such a credit to this community and I'm so very glad we know each other! Peace my friend. ✌️
Those rosewood drop tops would look super. I'll be interested to see how an olive wood neck turns out; unfinished both the neck and fretboard blanks look great. I'm in awe that you can get such large, single piece body blanks. That sure gives you more degrees of freedom for the finished guitar. Looking forward to seeing the finished instruments.
Thanks for the kind comment, and yes I’m really lucky that most of the wood i like I can get in dimensions for single piece bodies. I’m looking forward to getting an olive neck done too!👍
I like the where you're going with the body shapes. They're similar enough that it's clear that they're part of a series. And you have some beautiful rosewood tops. Those guitars should look incredible when finished. One thought I have is, while you have that really beautiful olive neck blank, perhaps you could cut it down the middle and add a strip of sapele to the middle (with or without veneers as well) and still have a multi-laminate neck for that guitar.
I think a tobacco burst on one of those tops in a single cut body would be incredible! looking forward to seeing some guitars with some colour soon!! :D
That's a beautiful example of tulipwood. So often poplar is called tulipwood and to make things confusing the light poplar that's common isn't the same as black poplar from Europe which is lovely. Confusing! I like the idea of a standardised "signature" shape for all models so there's a theme of the builder running through. There's going to be some lovely guitars here!
I love the idea of olive wood for the neck. In fact my wood store has some on sale but I never considered making a neck with it. The dimensions they offer would be great for that. I also would like to see someone add a strip of abalone alongside the binding. I think it looks nice but I’m not sure how to do that.
These are going to look great. Lovely woods and designs. As for your questions, thats so tough, but what I would say, particularly with colours and binding is that the guitars will tell you what they need when you get there. Do you use a photoshop or similar? I have a full scale drawing of my build in Affinity Designer ( I ditched Adobe a while back ) and mock everything up using pictures of the actual woods to scale that I can colour, add bursts to, binding, different hardware etc, it’s been very useful, even down to trialling possible veneers out of the left over pieces of top.
Thanks Jamie, yes I think you’re right, I’m going to need to find to mock and test combinations. Once the neck takes shape I usually start getting a feeling for how I want the body to look. If all else fails I’ll think about learning new software! 🤣
@@TornelliGuitars if you need any help with the latter, let me know, (I was both a designer and an artworker for many years). I like the software approach as it’s quick and non-destructive! Happy to make master template files you of your 3 main designs
Like the olive wood neck and board and will look great once it's all together The ebony and maple will also look sleek I agree - why waste the look of that rosewood - has to be just clear coated Red & Black always looks good l think the tulip and sepele will look great too Don't know if' i'd go black with the rosewood as surely you'd like a better contrast on it ? But better waiting till you had it together and then put them up against it and see whaich looks the best If you're doing solid colours and bursts on the others and binding them, then again it depends what colours you are going to dye/stain them ad i couldn't say till i seen them together before making that decision That answers that question for you then ... lol
@@TornelliGuitars Sorry i can't help you with the binding but that's something you'll have to make your mind up once you see it all together and you'll know what to put on each one to help set it off . Or obviously against test pieces you'll do.
Ok ignore my thoughts in the earlier video. Now that I see where you are going and your choices and options Its too far off base. EXCEPT the comment about the FRICKEN LASER BEAMS!! Gorgeous supply of woods you have to work with and many many combinations to use.

Thanks for the kind words Todd, it means a lot brother. Glad you like the wood selection too! 👍
That’s a perfect top for that guitar. Love your excitement when it all came together as well. That’s one of the best parts of any build!
Thanks Arran! That is definitely one of the best parts of the build, I know you can relate to that!👍
You have put a lot of thought into the design and timber choices. Love the olive wood and those rosewood tops
Thanks Jurgen! 👍

Thanks Bart, I really appreciate it. The Sapele and Olive idea is also good, that could look really good! 👍

Thanks, I do love a good tobacco burst, plus I’m looking forward to doing some colour! 👍

Thanks Chris, that’s answers my question about tulipwood then! 😀 thanks also for the kind comment about the designs. 👍
Ooooh some nice wood there. I'm sooooo jealous haha 🤣👌
Haha thanks! I’ve been really lucky to find great suppliers 👍

Thanks Laurel, I’m really looking forward to using the olive wood. I like the idea of the abalone too, I may see what I can do!🤔
