I love the pace and style of your videos, you show everything and its certainly not rushed, but its not dragging in the least! The flow is seamless and casual, so enjoyable!
I do look forward to these and I always come away with something tucked behind my ear. Very interesting on the methodology of colour and wood choices. It’s the same as the design principle of found colour, where you sample a colour from an image and use that to base say text or colour blocks that sit around it as it will always ‘go’. Lovely stuff as always Gio, and if I may be so bold, a fine selection of hats 🙂
🤣🤣I forgot to add my methodology for pairing hats with checked shirts, darn! Maybe next time! Thanks once again for the kind comment and continued support, its always appreciated 👍
Sorry to interrupt your process brother. Thank you for the shout out! Awesome video and awesome guitar! I really love it. As always man, nice and clean. Classy! ✌️
I'm not into the music field actually but I got stuck to your explanatory video here as you talk and work as if it's the most natural thing you could possibly do; you make every step looking like smooth and easy when it's the opposit. Wow, astonished !!!!
Have you every worked with Myrtle? Specifically California/Oregon Myrtle, or Umbellularia Californica. I think it looks beautiful, like a more interesting maple. I'm thinking of using it in the future as a top. One luthier said "Myrtlewood has the powerful voice of rosewood coupled with all the clarity, brightness and balance of maple. It ranges from an elegant whitish/straight grained look, to yellow/green with flame. The tonal personality of Myrtlewood is consistent even if the look varies. It has the power of rosewood along with the balance, brightness and clarity of maple." That's promising.
Nice break down on how you made your wood choices. Same with the double binding and colors. I can almost picture your plan for color already. You are the first person I have seen that understands pick up placement means more then wood for the tone of an electric guitar. Did you by chance test along with your pickup placement depth of the pickup or do you plan on rolling with just a standard height? For me every pickup seems to have a sweet spot height wise that even tends to change slightly with string gauge. Last thought on tone wood from me to ponder is... Does it even matter at all on an electric? Name one person who does not shape their sound at all either by amp eq or effects tonal changes? I think wood choice combined with construction methods plays a huge part in sustain and the natural resonance that effects things like harmonics or even the always there but subtle underlying drone notes from the resonances most people never notice. But choosing woods for their perceived "Tones" from a limited range of wood stagnates the uniqueness of a guitar.
Thanks for your comment once again Bill, it is really appreciated. I have a ball park that I start out at with pickup height and adjust from there. I’ll set it for each guitar rather than use a standard height because that’s just how I like to do the setup, I think I’ll likely end up at the same conclusion as you on the tonewood debate but I just want to hear it for myself, on my own guitars before cementing that in my mind. And I totally agree with you on pickup sweet spot and string gauge. Thanks once again for your support my friend 👍.
that’s pretty much my view on tone woods in electric guitars Bill. It’s there doing something and contributing, but it’s only part of the recipe; it’s the seasoning or subtle splice blend that elevates a home roast to fine dining and that’s down to the skill of the builder to balance it all. I’m hungry.

I haven’t used Myrtle, I can’t get it here. I would like some though. Todd @sweettguitars uses it and loves it and I have seen it, it looks wonderful.

That looks awesome mate, and your right, you shouldn't listen to youtubers 😂
And Sherbert looks so cute!!!
Haha thanks Curtis! 👍
What is your second choice for body binding adhesive if acetone does not work? Thank you.
UHU Allplast is a standard glue for plastic binding, hope that helps!👍
