Sometimes that's not enough for the process to work and coming back the next day to customers house would get to expensive for them. Method works great for homeowners given they have time to work with. It's still a great way to treat the color and smell. If you have the time
Thank you for a great video. Everyone with a pet should watch it; a sick animal can have an accident even when perfectly house-trained and that terrible smell lasts for ages.
Hello thank you for your video. I had my carpets professionally cleaned and after 5 days my Labrador has puked. We sucked it up and used Natures miracle and we will extract with the 50:50 warm water and white vinegar. I had the carpet cleaners recommend the CTI molecular modifier, is this similar to the urine odorizer you recommend? Thank you
Great video! Thank you so much 😊. I’m guessing all this will work in vinyl planks? My elderly miniature chi weenie pees off the side of her pads while I’m at work and it’ll get trapped under there for long periods. So the smell is kinda stuck in the vinyl. I want it gone . I’m trying vinegar at the moment cuz many of the enzymes I’ve tried haven’t worked. But I’ve not tried the brand you mentioned. You remind me of my dear friend Bob . Love the accent 😊

@@DavidMavilio I just performed a search for this tool on jondon and cannot find it. What is the technical name for this tool so that I can search amazon for this as well Thanks for your help in advance!
Hi, I bought the enzyme you recommended here, and a small sub surface extractor from Amazon. I had a large dog that urinated many times through the years on the carpet while we weren't home, so it was soaked in. I cleaned the carpet every time but definitely didn't get down deep enough. I have used other enzyme products in the past but the instructions said to just leave it on... as a result I can still smell those heavily perfumed ones in the carpet. AND dog urine when it is hot outside. I used this enzyme cleaner last night, should I rinse the area by pouring water on the carpet to saturate it again? I keep getting foam extracting from the carpet....probably from leftover residue from all the other products I've tried in the past. Should I continue to rinse until I'm not getting foam, and just clea water coming up? Thank you!
Should you continue to rinse???? Yes, Yes & Yes Once the enzyme has done its job...even it takes several applications you must thoroughly rinse the carpet including areas where all the urine/enzyme traveld to. Sometimes if you are limited to a shop vac for extraction you can pour water over the effected area and use the shop vac to quickly pull it up. Foam can def be a problem. Foam will slow down the rinsing but you must get it out. You'll know you are successful when there is no urine odor folowing the complete extraction. Good Luck
@@DavidMavilio thank you, thank you, thank you!!!! 😊 I have been using a shop vac with this sub surface extractor tool. But there is so much foam! Lol I shampood thus carpet SO MUCH over the years....I'm sure there is a ton of residue. Thank you!!

wet/dry shop vacuums will work for spot cleaning and maybe a light overall cleaning of the carpeted area. For a reallly deep down DIY cleaning i would try an extraction machine- this will save a lot of time. Of course make sure to use the correct chemistry ☺
I used the CTI pretreatment then the fiber rinse while I sucked up the liquid. Now all I can smell is the CTI product. Is it supposed to smell strongly for a while?
Hi If the odor is as strong now as when u applied it flush it again A little residual odor is ok but most will dissipate with a few hours if rinse thoroughly
When spraying the water and white vinegar solution I am spraying after the vacuum passes, correct? So we leave that mixture on the carpet? Or does it need to be removed as well?
The enzyme sits on the carpet for usually 10-15 minutes, then extract using the vinegar/water solution followed by the shop vacuum. The vinegar solution gets sprayed in front of the shop vac suction, which rinses the enzymes, urine deposits and leaves the carpet in an acidic state. Let me know if this helps.
Great Video but what if you can not see the spot. There is a urine smell from my sons room we have tried lots of cleaners but not sure how to treat the whole room. Any suggestions?
Hi- This is a very common problem. Three ways to ID urine: 1. Hands & knees, really getting very close to the carpet-helps if you have a good nose and a strong stomach 2. Moisture meter: if the urine is still wet it will trigger a moisture meter 3. Black light (UV Light)-urine deposits glow when shined on urine All are good but have their limitations. There is no majic bullet to treat a whole room at one time for DIY project. Try contacting a Pro in your area who can flush the carpet of urine and all the resudual products you already used. The powders and "nature miracle" will hold the smells until thoroughly rinsed. If you don't want to contact a Pro then methodically check the room for each spot and treat. Good Luck ☺
Hi Yes you can use any extraction machine but the DIY Bissell machines are designed to clean the top part of the carpet fibers only. Most are not powerful enough to extract deep within the pile or into the backing. A powerful (and not very expensive) shop vac will pull more liquids up. I hope this helped ☺
Finding this video was like finding gold! Is there a specific small wet vac that you could recommend? Currently living in an apartment and I don’t have a whole lot of space for storage.
Hi Mandy We use the Shop Vac brand. Most brands will work just make sure is wet capable. The small version ( 6 gallon ) should work on most small spots. Good Luck :)
Hi I’m from England. Great video very informative. Would a vax be good enough cleans and rinses. But would it be powerful enough to suck from the underlay
Hi Great to hear from England 😀 Only a very powerful wet vacuum could pull from the padding...I wouldn’t count on trying to rinse out soaps from backing with anything but professional equipment
Thanks for the video. Very helpful advice. I will update after trying this. My 14 year old dog urinated in her sleep a couple of times lately. Boy does it stink.
Hi The Bissell probably won't have the same suction power as an inexpensive shop vac. The home carpet cleaning machines are good at cleaning the top surface of carpet but to pull moisture from deep down a shop vac works much better.
Hello and thank you very much for these informative videos. I've learned from watching your videos that a key step which I have missed in my attempts to deal with pet urine odors has been to allow the enzyme cleaner to dry in place without rinsing. I plan to go back over the problem areas; rinse first, then apply enzyme cleaner, then rinse again per your recommendations, using a vinegar:water rinse. My question is, I am considering purchasing a 7 amp upright carpet cleaner for this work, as it could be handy for general high-traffic area cleaning as well as for pet stain cleaning. I have researched many of the small 3-6 gallon; 2-3 HP Peak shop vacs, some of which you listed, and find that they are rated at 7-8 amps. Would a 7 amp upright carpet cleaner do as good of a job of extracting moisture from the underlying carpet pad as a 7 amp shop vac? Thank you!!
Hi Jackie- Thanks for watching the video. The process you describe above is "spot on"... Having a DIY carpet cleaning/spotting machine is a good idea, esp if you intend to use it perodically to clean up spills and rinse heavy traffic areas. Rinsing traffic areas will be difficult using a shop-vac, i would go with an upright cleaning machine. The key to DIY success on carpet cleaning to: -use a 2 quart pump up sprayer to apply the detergent (not the machine) -Do not add too much soap (more is never better) -use a soft brush/push broom to agitate the detergent into the fiber -add your rinse agent to the machine You can use a 1:1 white vinegar/water solution for rinsing or even better try this Pro chem All Fiber Rinse amzn.to/2wCno0A We have used it for years and it works great-removes soap residue, leave carpet soft & fluffy. A full size cleaner should work fine if it has the suction power to pull the deep liquids up through the carpet. If there are many accidents happening try spraying Sally’s 10 volume or Sally’s 20 volume clear peroxide after the final rinse. This will help with the odor and staining. Try doing this in one area first before applying to many areas. Good luck :)

I can call a professional if needed but I'm trying to do it as cheap as possible
Try to isolate the effected area. The best way is to use your nose to locate the contamination..or a black UV light. Doing the entire area is very time consuming and pulling the carpet can be tricky if you have never done it. A professional should be able to locate and sanitize all the effected areas...this might be your best choice If you do try it yourself let us know how it turns out Good luck ☺
Hi Are you comparing OS1 to Urine Pre Treat??? They both have their place. OS1 is an oxygen bleach that "oxidizers" or destroys stains and some odors. Oxygen bleaches are great for fibers that are not hurt by powerful detergents. This product is good when you are in a hurry and want to use only one product. Enzymes are gentler on wool and are less apt to harm any other type of fibers. There are many instances where we start with an enzyme and then treat an area with an oxygen product. Hope this helps ☺
Hi Eleanor The enzyme we use is below: CTI - Pro's Choice - Urine Pre Treatment amzn.to/2T05zjp Follow instructions and make sure to rinse the effected area of all chemical residue Repeat the process if necessary
Can you make a video on pulling back carpet to clean it and how to put it back? Most videos I've found are pulling it up to replace it and idk how you'd put it back
Hi The enzyme we use on both wool and synthetic rugs is Pro's Choice - Urine Pre Treatment Plus amzn.to/2T05zjp Note: Make sure to have the product make contact thoroughly with the effected areas. Rinse well. Repeat if necessary. Good Luck
Hi, thanks for the great video. Still having trouble getting urine out of wool carpet after using your technique and solutions three times. Any other suggestions?
Hi By “getting the urine out” I assume you mean the staining… You can try to increase the strength of the peroxide you are using The safest is 3% peroxide Stronger solutions like Sally’s 30 or 40 volume might work but can chemically burn the wool which weakens it and can remove color If the odor remains make sure you are leaving the enzyme on the area for a long time
Yes, the stain has not faded. The smell is not so bad. I am hesitant to use the stronger peroxides. Should I just reapply the 3% hydrogen peroxide by itself or only after using the enzyme and vinegar as you demonstrated? Thank you
Try this: Reapply the 3% and cover the area with plastic...which will prevent the peroxide from drying. When peroxide dries it's effectiveness is over. Leave covered for at least 24 hrs. Repeat if necessary, but if the first application shows no improvement then you have to increase the strength of the peroxide and take a chance. Let me know if this helps...Good Luck
I am looking at the product you recommended on Amazon now. The reviews aren't that great, do you still recommend this as the best solution in your professional opinion? I noticed the video is a year old and just wanted to make sure before I purchased. I'm sure all the reviewers probably did not follow the steps you demonstrated in your video. But just checking prior to purchase. Thanks in advance!
Will this product work on carpet thats has been peed on many times, ive cleaned it many times and dont see any stains but can smell the urine still, and has been this way for several years. Thanks
Urine that has been sitting for a very long time many take multiple applications but it will work: 1. make sure the enzyme makes contact with all urine 2. allow it to dwell long enough 10-15 minutes 3. thoroughly rinse all areas Good luck ☺
Hi The process is the same for kids or puppy pee. If the urine is old let the enzymes dwell for a longer time. Make sure to rinse thoroughly and repeat the process if necessary Good luck🍀
I'm not aware of any residential carpet cleaning machines that are powerful enough to reach below the carpet to the sub-floor. Be careful when applying too much enzyme. Liquids can easily run down into the sub floor and make it almost impossible to thoroughly flush out the urine.
Any product you recommend for getting our old cat pee? I have a room full of cat pee and I tried almost everything, when I clean the carpet it’s fine at first but once it’s dried the stains reappear. Also what water vac do you recommend, can I get a link to the vac you used in this video? Thanks
Hi we use CTI ProsChoice for urine....even if the urine has been sitting for a while ( amzn.to/2T05zjp ) make sure to use warm water and let it sit long enough to digest the urine. The staining may remain, but you can try using Sally’s Volume 20 or 30 ( amzn.to/3bUjfVW ) Keep repeating the Sally’s peroxide until the staining is removed. Let us know how it turns out. @@HanShotFirst2131 If you smell the urine after the carpet is dry you need to: -make sure you made direct saturation contact with the urine using the correct dilution ratio of the pre-treatment, and allow it to remain (dwell) for a longer period of time. -and...thoroughly rinse all residual detergents out of the carpet. Remember-you have to follow the contamination where ever it goes, under the carpet, padding and subfloor. We have not ever had this system fail as long as we made sure we did all of the above.

Thank you!!

Having a DIY carpet cleaning/spotting machine is a good idea, esp if you intend to use it perodically to clean up spills and rinse heavy traffic areas.
Rinsing traffic areas will be difficult using a shop-vac, i would go with an upright cleaning machine.
The key to DIY success on carpet cleaning to:

Try to isolate the effected area. The best way is to use your nose to locate the contamination..or a black UV light.
Doing the entire area is very time consuming and pulling the carpet can be tricky if you have never done it.
A professional should be able to locate and sanitize all the effected areas...this might be your best choice
If you do try it yourself let us know how it turns out
Good luck ☺
Is pros choice os1 better ?
Hi
Are you comparing OS1 to Urine Pre Treat???
They both have their place.
OS1 is an oxygen bleach that "oxidizers" or destroys stains and some odors.
Oxygen bleaches are great for fibers that are not hurt by powerful detergents.
This product is good when you are in a hurry and want to use only one product.
Enzymes are gentler on wool and are less apt to harm any other type of fibers.
There are many instances where we start with an enzyme and then treat an area with an oxygen product.
Hope this helps ☺
thanks for the video. what is the vChemical in the yellow bottle. !
you never told what it was and the name could not be seen
Hi Eleanor
The enzyme we use is below:
CTI - Pro's Choice - Urine Pre Treatment
amzn.to/2T05zjp
Follow instructions and make sure to rinse the effected area of all chemical residue
Repeat the process if necessary
Can you make a video on pulling back carpet to clean it and how to put it back? Most videos I've found are pulling it up to replace it and idk how you'd put it back
Hi Mallory
I'm not sure when we can do a video that you describe....maybe some time in the near future..
I know this is for carpet but what would you suggest for a spot on the corner of a bed mattress?
Try using some of the peroxide’s in this video
ua-cam.com/video/IqIGm_8_Y9k/v-deo.html
They should work fine if it is only a small area
For more intense contamination try this
ua-cam.com/video/KWe7saTySho/v-deo.html
Let us know how it turns out
So what was the enzyme stuff?
Hi
The enzyme we use on both wool and synthetic rugs is
Pro's Choice - Urine Pre Treatment Plus
amzn.to/2T05zjp
Note: Make sure to have the product make contact thoroughly with the effected areas. Rinse well. Repeat if necessary.
Good Luck
Hi, thanks for the great video. Still having trouble getting urine out of wool carpet after using your technique and solutions three times. Any other suggestions?
Hi
By “getting the urine out” I assume you mean the staining…
You can try to increase the strength of the peroxide you are using
The safest is 3% peroxide
Stronger solutions like Sally’s 30 or 40 volume might work but can chemically burn the wool which weakens it and can remove color
If the odor remains make sure you are leaving the enzyme on the area for a long time
Yes, the stain has not faded. The smell is not so bad. I am hesitant to use the stronger peroxides. Should I just reapply the 3% hydrogen peroxide by itself or only after using the enzyme and vinegar as you demonstrated? Thank you
Try this:
Reapply the 3% and cover the area with plastic...which will prevent the peroxide from drying. When peroxide dries it's effectiveness is over. Leave covered for at least 24 hrs.
Repeat if necessary, but if the first application shows no improvement then you have to increase the strength of the peroxide and take a chance.
Let me know if this helps...Good Luck
Thank you
I am looking at the product you recommended on Amazon now.
Please provide the link or name of the product
Thanks
Will this product work on carpet thats has been peed on many times, ive cleaned it many times and dont see any stains but can smell the urine still, and has been this way for several years. Thanks
Urine that has been sitting for a very long time many take multiple applications but it will work:
1. make sure the enzyme makes contact with all urine
2. allow it to dwell long enough 10-15 minutes
3. thoroughly rinse all areas
Good luck
☺
How do you get out old and new toddler pee!? On the same spot
Hi
The process is the same for kids or puppy pee.
If the urine is old let the enzymes dwell for a longer time.
Make sure to rinse thoroughly and repeat the process if necessary
Good luck🍀
Would an 800w carpet cleaner be efficient enough at reaching the subfloor?
I'm not aware of any residential carpet cleaning machines that are powerful enough to reach below the carpet to the sub-floor.
Be careful when applying too much enzyme. Liquids can easily run down into the sub floor and make it almost impossible to thoroughly flush out the urine.
Can not tell what the product is ?
The description below the video has the products used
Any product you recommend for getting our old cat pee?
The wet vac we use is amzn.to/2SKyJEm. All products mentioned here are from our affiliate’s page...........Good luck
Note: cat urine usually is more difficult to remove than dog
Peroxide. Let sit for a bit. Also cleaning vinegar. Or all purpose vinegar.
@@DavidMavilio So glad I found your videos, thanks for making them and taking the time to answer comments. I looked at your suggestions, however not sure if it was custom for her but I'm in a desperate need. Didn't know my carpet was "wet" from old pee stains until my dog started licking her paws like crazy, went around and found "wet" carpet, but not to much on top, when I walk by rarely,(they are normally by her pads-she is 13) I never feel it until I push down on it. I have Nature's Miracle, but the wet vac you suggested is really big for my small apt. can you recommend something smaller that I can get ASAP? Thanks
again.
Can you link the professional enzyme you mentioned in the yellow jug?
here you go.....let us know how it turns out....
two options:

Couple weeks later. Used this product and cleaner a number of times. Now it seems that the space is cleaner looking but I now smell a stronger odor of urine/chemicals. Any recommendations?
@@HanShotFirst2131 If you smell the urine after the carpet is dry you need to:
-make sure you made direct saturation contact with the urine using the correct dilution ratio of the pre-treatment, and allow it to remain (dwell) for a longer period of time.
-and...thoroughly rinse all residual detergents out of the carpet.
Remember-you have to follow the contamination where ever it goes, under the carpet, padding and subfloor.
We have not ever had this system fail as long as we made sure we did all of the above.
Much appreciated. Will give it another go
How much did that vacuum cost you?
Hi
It cost +/- $35
There are smaller models that cost even less
Most people don't have the type of machine in their homes that you recommend to extract the cleaning products. And those machines are expensive.
Hi
Most wet/dry shop vacuums can be purchased in most areas for 50 dollars for a small but acceptable machine.
These machines come with the plastic attachments that can be used to give the same results in the video.
I’ll share more info soon...
Another affordable machine, link from our affiliates page
amzn.to/3fZxlGb
Vacmaster 3 Peak HP 5 Gallon Wet Dry Vacuum Cleaner
The cheapest 1 hp wet/dry vac you can buy. I found at Walmart for $24.00. I once dropped a bowl of spaghetti sauce in an apartment. It will work just fine.
@@ramroad2008 Thanks for the info
