    Thanks for the budget numbers. I was estimating your monthly total from the category percentages as you went along and then your actual total didn’t seem to jive. Unless I missed something, transportation at $841/ mo isn’t your single largest cost and it wouldn’t be 38% of the total $2568. It would be 33%. The food and entertainment category at $925 (36%) is your highest.

    • @SnowAndCurt
      @SnowAndCurt  5 років тому +3

      I’ll double check them next time I have the computer out! ... it’s possible that an item could have got jumbled up when I was sorting them into categories and figuring %’s. But, for sure the grand total is accurate! Thanks for the heads up.

    Very, very good! Thanks very much for sharing this! Perhaps something to consider for the use of internet is getting a mobile wifi hotspot (i.e. Huawei do them). Look for one to be operated with a SIM card. You could then, in the respective country, look for the cheapest pre-paid all-you-can-eat internet solution and stick that card into the hotspot and then you've got wifi for phones and computer, and could use certain apps for free phonecalls over the computer or phone. Or, of course, if you've got a modern phone that can create a hot spot, you can use it to connect your computer to.

      We spend quite a bit on diesel because we travel from place to place quite a bit! We sold our home... and literally everything we owned! I’m glad we did, it gives us an exact number that we have to live on... and we don’t have anything at home to dress over! It’s a big decision for sure!

    I'm not sure where GasBuddy sends you but if it's a smaller station, or independent be cautious re: getting a bad load of fuel. A batch with gasoline contamination could cause your fuel pump to send metal shards into the rest of the system for a very costly fuel system repair. I prefer to buy my diesel from large truck stops that cycle through a lot of diesel daily.

    • @SnowAndCurt
      @SnowAndCurt  5 років тому

      We stick to the name brand stations... gas buddy just gets us off the main roads and back into some neighborhood stations! We’ve literally seen a $.60 difference from a Shell interstate exit station to another Shell station that is just two miles away in a small town! We hear ya on the fear of bad diesel!!

      Once we had the couch installed, I started to add decor... when I sat on the couch it was easy to see that I couldn’t really hang anything on the wall or our heads would hit it. But, I knew I needed something there, so I googled “flat hanging wall decor”.... and that is when I discovered wall decals! There’s thousands to choose from, but as soon as I saw the birds, I knew they were perfect! They are also removable... and there has been no issue with them coming off the wall!

    I had google Fi for 4 years....and it by FAR cost me more in terms of monthly bill. You can get as much data as you want through anyone but I have recently found that t-mobile is the best for data and data rates. I have never been throttled on data and I use a ton. And they JUST upgraded their service to 5G. Just FYI.

    I now buy a SIM card in each country where I need to. They are more commonly sold over the counter in other countries than in the USA for some reason. Very easy to find. It turned out to be considerably cheaper, but more importantly for me, easier to use than fooling with Google fi or International Verizon for example.

    • @SnowAndCurt
      @SnowAndCurt  5 років тому +2

      We do not right now... but, we are looking into it now! Since we are going international, it is looking like we will need to insure the items in our van through a business insurance plan. I think if you are staying in USA, it’s simpler, but I’ll do an update once we get that figured out!

    May I ask what the break down cost for the food and entertainment category is?
    I’m curious because I would be solo living and I’d like to try and see what I would need to consider vs what I could cut out.
    For example I would use a streaming service and a vpn but I would not need to dine out and I’m fairly frugal with groceries.
    So I’m curious what your grocery cost vs entertainment cost and grocery vs dining out cost are. Sorry if it’s asking for too much, you don’t need to reply if it is.

      Yes, it’s an international plan. We hesitate to recommend it because we’ve never used it... and hoping we never need to! Although, I’m sure we will one day! The rates were exciting to us for sure! You have to reside outside of the USA for at least six months of the year to be able to get the insurance. It’s a company called IMG. If we ever need to use the insurance, then we can maybe do a video to say how it went!

      We are staying put where we are right now until it is safe to travel again. We have been in a little beach town in Oaxaca Mexico since early March hunkered down and social distancing... and we believe we will be here for at least 2 more months... maybe longer. We will be extremely safe! Thanks for worrying about us.

      Yea…. As “if” our country doesn’t have our fair share of banditos who will rob you in a split second…..and murderers, and people who just like to gun down people in crowds! Hell, you’re safer in OTHER countries….I grew up in 6 different countries and was never afraid ……till I moved back to the U.S. and within 2 months, my dad and I were mugged outside an eatery in Los Angeles! 🙁

    Great video! Have you guys heard of Bob Wells from CheapRVLiving? He’s huge in the nomad community so I’m sure you know him. He did a video about health insurance on the road & hipped me to something I hadn’t thought about, an HSA. I haven’t done the research yet but it’s a health savings account that you can dump money into, roll it over & whatever hasn’t been used on medical expenses can go towards your retirement fund. Not sure if that’s exactly right. Need to do more research. I also subscribe to the channel OurRichJourney( a young couple achieved FIRE at age 40 and they’ve relocated to Portugal with their 2 girls). They are counting their HSA account as part of their retirement fund as well. International insurance sounds great! I pay just under $500 a month for me & my son😩 Happy Travels! Can’t wait to see the next video 😊

      Interesting... we will check both of them out! And I feel your pain... I use to pay $600 a month just for myself (snow).
