    Hi again C&S
    Organization is a big key to having low stress in our lives. Truly a kind of comfort. So interesting to hear your comparisons. When you speak of smaller space and enjoying it that's another kind of comfort comfort too! Like snuggling in your small cozy bed space. Really fun as I can relate to much of what you said and sense the feelings that come. Lol! Always enjoy you two and whatever topic you're bringing. Stay healthy and safe and keep enjoying every moment regardless...
    Catcha next time!

    I planned on staying in the SW until April but came home end of February due to an unexpected family death. I totally agree with your #5, I miss being able to freely travel. I'm hoping to at least get out in my van this summer and do some remote camping near lakes here in the Yoop. There are many National Forest campgrounds in an hour from where I live (Escanaba). Thanks again for the content, that mural behind you is amazing, I couldn't stop looking at the eyes!

    That's so funny, I totally agree with your 1 bad thing, I haven't lived in a van as yet, but I solo travel around the world, 54 countries and all 7 continents so far and the one thing I love when I come home is getting back to the internet with no hassles...so I feel you. Russia is one place I found you do have to buy a sim card, the downside is you won't be able to tether anything to it, wifi doesn't work in Russia unless you have an actual Russian phone number, that's if you're going to Russia, something to keep in mind.

    • @SnowAndCurt
      @SnowAndCurt  4 роки тому

      We do plan on Russia... But basically just drive across with minimal stops. It's how we get from Europe to South Korea (ferry from easy Russia to S Korea)!

      @@SnowAndCurt I loved both countries, great tax free shopping in South Korea...lol...only did a quick out of country stop there to reset my visa for Japan. The white nights in St Petersburg, midnight opening of bridges, canals + buildings, Moscow for the subway architecture is like nothing you've ever seen before, Irkutsk food, wooden buildings + people were amazing. Sakhalin is the most beautiful though, it's above Japan, I lived in Japan and always wanted to go there, it's very untouched and full of nature...the world is a beautiful place...and still at least another 80 odd countries I have to go...lol...then I'll be happy to stay in Australia once I'm 80...lol...

    11:41 You can actually solve the internet problem permanently. I am a web developer, so I really, REALLY need my internet to do most of my work. So what I did, when I spent months travelling around USA with my girlfriend, while living out of a Honda Element, is I got 2 sim cards (AT&T & Verizon for best overall coverage, no matter the location), both with an unlimited data plan (around $150/m for both). I put those sims into mine & my GFs iPhones, jailbroke the phones (super easy to do these days, don't even need a laptop anymore) and installed TetherMe tweak, which allows you to turn your phone into a WiFi hotspot (even if the carrier doesn't allow tethering/hotspots at all). Then I also signed up for NordVPN and installed their app on each iPhone to encrypt/hide all phone internet traffic (since I don't want carriers snooping about in my data or finding out that I am somehow downloading 100s of GBs every month, seemingly all from my phone). And that's it - whenever I needed internet, I just switched on the hotspot on one of the phones (whichever one had the best reception) and voila - we had unlimited internet/WiFi that was also faster than most home internet connections (if we were in an area with 4G/LTE). And all for the same price as what you'd essentially pay at home (if you combine the cost of unlimited home internet plan + 2 phone plans, you'd probably be paying around $150/m anyway). Can't believe more people are not doing that.

    • @SnowAndCurt
      @SnowAndCurt  4 роки тому +1

      Even though it is “unlimited data” carriers throttle you after certain data limits. So once we reach that threshold we can’t upload a video.

    • @TheCredibleHulk
      @TheCredibleHulk 4 роки тому

      @@SnowAndCurt I haven't experienced any throttling myself, to be honest. And I was well above the limit by the end of every month on both plans (it adds up quick between my heavy web dev work, downloading software updates & watching UA-cam/Netflix in Full HD). So yeah, I agree that they do, indeed, reserve the right to throttle you after a certain limit, as they state in T&Cs. But I have a feeling they rarely exercise that right (based on my personal experience of blasting past the limit every month with no problems), unless you will consistently do something stupid like downloading a TBs worth of data every month. It's just too obvious and will probably get red flagged by the system. But I've consistently downloaded around 200-300Gb/m on each plan (about 500Gb combined) and no one bat an eye.. :) I am sure the fact that I was hot-spotting via TetherMe on a Jailbroken phone + hiding all of my traffic behind a good VPN, helped me stay under the radar, since there was absolutely no way for them to ever prove that I was tethering. As far as their system could see, I was just an extremely heavy phone user. And it's not that unrealistic either these days - some people do watch a ton of Netflix/UA-cam on their phone and it adds up very fast. So yeah, with my setup I doubt they could ever catch me, since they couldn't see what I was actually doing and what device I was accessing the internet with thanks to the VPN+TetherMe combo.

    The key to fitness really is just simple consistency. It's staying healthy during the inconvenient times because as soon as you start moving backward it compounds all your mistakes and if you only ever move forward then your progress is an inevitability. I'm hunkering down at my parents house hoping that all the gyms will be open by august bc I dont have a shower like you two lol.

      Not really.... but we try to be pretty conservative with the situations we put ourselves in. In other words, I stay on Curt pretty good about not taking me anywhere scary! LOL .... we also research quite a bit before we head into a new area so we know the good areas and bad.... no offense against Chicago, it is a beautiful city, but I would not want to park my camper in some areas on the south side! There are areas like that in most cities in most countries... so we do our best to know where those areas are and avoid them!

    I miss Mexico!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We've been traveling for 7 years but consider Mexico our expat "home". We were house sitting in North Carolina when the lockdown happened. We were supposed to go from NC to Sweden for another house sit but the borders closed and we couldn't go. Then Mexico closed it's borders and we couldn't go home. So we went to my parents house in northern Minnesota. 3 days after we arrived they sold the house. Thankfully it's a long contract so we have the summer to close up shop here. I've been sorting through all my things and selling off most of it. Helping my parents close up my childhood home, Celebrating my daughter's 18th birthday....... (sorry..... I heard you ask "what do you miss" and the story just fell out) Pretty soon I'm going to miss everything I own, my daughter, my home, my childhood home, etc etc..... anyway..... we are preparing our RV for our first big destination and we'll see if we continue after that. We named the RV Irys the Virus but refer to her frequently as "the Bunker," our shelter and Eye of the Storm. I wish you all the best in Mexico :) God willing we'll be stuck in Mexico soon enough too!

      @@SnowAndCurt We have a few stops to make in Minnesota before we really head out...... Our current target destination is a past house sit in Selma, AL! The homeowner needs to travel and we neeeeeeed to hug her dogs! We're trying to visit a few more (new) states on the way though. I have 16 states I haven't been to yet and I'm on an "All 50 before I'm 50" kick. (still plenty of time, sort of!) I'm sorry.... I don't know why I find myself babbling so much on your page here! :) We're basically in the RV as a solution to a problem but not trying to be miserable while in it. Trying to make it fun. Some days I don't have the motivation.

    Hi Snow and Curt. Curt, I really appreciate your tech-talk. Me and my wife are looking for the same adventure in a camper van. I have few question. 1. Did you use a book as an inspiration for your conversion? If yes which book? 2. Yours is a Sprinter 170 extended or not? 3. Based on your research and taking in consideration freezing do you think will work to build the water tanks under floor (we are not so tall and if we still few inches on the whole surface of the floor we can have easy 40-50 gallons of water). Maybe I will have more question down the road. Thank you. Radu

    • @SnowAndCurt
      @SnowAndCurt  4 роки тому

      Hi Radu! That's super exciting that you are planning your own campervan... It's the best decision we ever made! We did not have a book to do the build from... It was hours and hours of sketching on graph paper... Watching UA-cam vids... And then more hours of sketching! Once we had the layout... We dove into designing each element and then figure out how to make it fit together; yes, we have a 2018 dually 4x4... 170 extended! Curt will keep putting out more tech advice... And we try to answer all of the questions we can! Good luck and keep us posted!
