I met Jeremy Renner once, and… the man is one of the kindest human beings on this planet. He was having a smoke by a pay phone in Reno, and I interrupted really quickly to say how much I loved him, and his role as an IED defuser in The Hurt Locker was my favorite as not only someone who appreciates film, but also as a veteran who has heard stories of the courage it takes to undertake such a terrifying task overseas. That Home Depot parking lot was a nightmare during the day. Nobody wanted to park on the 2nd level, so they just drove around the lot looking for a space.

Jeremy Renner at first looked annoyed with the show and the concept, he probably thought it was gonna be a boring run-of-the-mill interview. After the first few hot wings he finally started to relax and become himself. That goes to show how great an interviewer Sean is, Great job!

The may be the most perfect encapsulation of the genius of this show and interview format. In the front half, Jeremy seemed to still have his "media world, let's get this over with" walls up, but then the turn at the back he was allowing himself to totally relax and looked to genuinely have a great time. Great show, great host, great guest, great job.

And Chris Hemsworth! You can't have Loki without Thor. Well... you can, his solo series proved... but still, having Chris on there would be great, too.
It has been said before, but Sean is such an amazing interviewer. For example at 5:52, Sean asks a closed A or B question. Jeremy goes 'off script' with option C, but then still Sean has a great follow-up question that relates to the given answer. Shows great flexibility, and of course his comprehensive research.
Lots of praise here for Sean’s questions. They’re certainly good for getting guests off-guard and hitting different subjects than their normal press junket stops. But more than that, I think it makes these interviews more timeless. Yeah, Jeremy is promoting two particular projects, but this interview will still be good to watch in five years. You can’t always say that.

Like half the guests have never watched the show lol. There is at least one compilation of several guests saying "What are you doing?!" When Sean starts shaking The Last Dab
He started the interview kinda stiff, like he was tired and didn't really want to be there, but loosened up as the wings progressed. I'd say it's Sean's magic, because he keeps asking unconventional questions, and not about the latest project. There are too few interview shows like this. Renner handled those wings very well, I have to say. Everyone is broken by Da Bomb. Also, Renner is the first guest I was a fan of before, so his name on my YT main made me go WOW! I watched a lot of other Hot Ones, some were better, some were worse, I'm still very happy you managed to get Renner :)
He perked up because his brain was releasing endorphins, dopamine and serotonin which happens when people eat really spicy things. It can give a euphoric type of feeling which is why people usually perk up and become amusing towards the end.
Everyone talking about Jeremy being closed off at the start, I'm still at the start and he seems perfectly comfortable and personable. Especially for someone being interviewed whilst eating hot wings.
As a fan of Renner it was great seeing such an interview like this, truly getting to know him a little bit more. BUT I think most of the kudos goes to Sean being such a great host/interviewer that he can get his guest to open up and enjoy the torturous process of the hot wings.
This man is sort of a real life superhero. He nearly died trying to help others in January, and he has worked hard to get back on his feet in record time. It's a miracle. Keep healing, Jeremy!
I love that even when his guest freak out, Sean Evans just goes with the flow and even does some wacky things to make them feel comfortable so they don’t feel so out of character, definition of a great host.
I don’t like venturing into the comments, but thank you Sean and crew for that title card. I was a friend of Candace and her sudden loss hit me and others so hard, but I am happy she was still working and making so many people and productions the better for it. Thank you for honoring my awesomely talented friend. Means the world to me and all that knew her. ❤️
I was hoping to find out more on her in the description.I assume she worked for the show. She was very young so I'm very sorry for your loss. I'm wayy to familiar with the loss of people I love in my life. I've always had a.. weird curiosity when it comes to certain things. I really don't understand why because it's honestly depressing but it's just been a thing with me since I was young. Always think of her, You will get to a place eventually when you can smile and feel a bit of peace when you think on her memory.
Holy shit mayor props to Sean. Jeremy really came with the wrong energy thinking this was just a macho show but Sean was able to reach into him, match his energy and bring him back to make a really satisfying episode where Jeremy realized he isn't here to prove something to anyone, he's just here to have a good time...and get murdered by DA bomb of course.
what's an example of this? i didn't feel any macho energy from Renner he's just talking and having fun and respecting that the wings might be really tough from the start?
It would be pretty cool if Robert Pattinson came in this show when the promotions of the Batman starts in mid winter, it would be the most funniest and chaotic segment of hot ones.
You know what I love about this show, is that you not only find out the guests background and interests, especially with those "one of a kind questions" asked ( brilliant).. Is that you see how they react under pressure.... They are all so amazing. Love this! And love from Canada!
Kind of surprised that Jeremy didn’t look up Paul Rudd HO interview. If there is one episode you have to watch before going on this show, it’s that one.
I love how most guest start off super respectful and nice, then after things start to heat up, they call Sean mean names, start swearing at least once per sentence
Love Renner's answers they are very well put and honest!!! Renner is a very great actor and singer!! The song "Best part of me" made me cry so much!! I can't get enough of him!!!!! I LOVE JEREMY RENNER
A lot of praise for Sean, but I wanna shout out to the team behind Sean who write the questions and do the research and bring the show together. Nice job all you behind the scenes people!
In an interview, Sean said he is very much involved in the research part and they still run with a small crew so it's collaborative. But yeah, there has to be some research Savant behind the scenes doing the heavy lifting now, because of the number of famous guests coming in and them having a reputation to uphold.
Mr. Renner, I want to thank you for risking your life to save the life of your nephew, now, almost 1 year ago. I would bet my last dollar that you didn’t give what you did, right, or wrong, good, or bad, a moments thought; you just did what needed to be done. Period. That’s the kind of man I have read you are. More people need to be aware of you; not as Hawk, but as Jeremy Renner, a real human man; a man of principle, and honor. I pray your recovery is easier every day, and that many wonderful things come your way. Glad to have seen this interview with you. From Mexico City.
I was a little afraid to watch this one because I love Jeremy Renner and you are literally the only interviewer that has ever been able to change my opinion of a person that I didn't even know I had. I'm happy to say I still love Jeremy Renner. Thank you Sean for always interviewing the person and not just the profession, you set the bar high.

It was cool to see Jeremy just enjoy himself. Sometimes it looks like he hates interviews and doesn't care to be there. But u could tell by the middle or so he was enjoying himself at hot ones.
It goes to show you that celebrities prefer to be on hot ones knowing full well they will go through hell, but also be asked insightful questions then go to other medias same boring questions like "how can you go to the bathroom in that costume" or "are you wearing underwear in that outfit?". Why I love Hot Ones. Someone who actually does the research and ask fun great questions. Get us to know these people better than anything.
I met Jeremy Renner when he was promoting Civil War. Very humble and kind guy. He brings such an energy to the characters he plays and I love that about him.
Sean's preparation is unparalleled. Guests that seem skeptical at first are forced to respect this guy based on all the work he actually puts in to this. I'm sure Sean is making a fortune doing this and rightly so, he leaves tomorrow and this show doesn't last 2 more seasons.
Every single guest ALWAYS looks bemused when Sean starts shaking THE LAST DAB! "What're you doing, why are you shaking it?" With a look of fear and confusion slowly creeping in! Brilliant!
If I don't know him, he just looks like a regular dad who wants to watch his son play baseball in the weekend and going to the bar on friday nights with how he looks, he wears, he talks, etc... And that's what makes him more adoring to me.
Got some introverted vibes coming from Jeremy lol Started off in his bubble then completely popped out of it when Sean got him to talk about his other passions, starting with architecture and design. Or…it could just be that he needed something in his tummy to get things rolling 😂 Loved it regardless
He is introverted, if u have him on insta you will see hes always putting houses in remote lonely places on his story with heart eyes emojis and that, he loves being away from people
I already knew that Jeremy is the type of guy who's NOT going to back down. Even at the Last Dab, you could tell he was going to meet or exceed Sean because it's just his competitive nature. Even at the cost of his own comfort 🤣🤣 Looking forward to Hawkeye. He's one of my fave characters in the MCU. No powers, just skill and some wit. Ending was HILARIOUS.

Like half the guests have never watched the show lol. There is at least one compilation of several guests saying "What are you doing?!" When Sean starts shaking The Last Dab
Check out the David Harbour episode that is one of my favorites where he obviously has never seen the show.
I don't blame him for seeming tired or stiff at first. He's doing press for two different tv shows. Can't be easy.
He was still more relaxed at the beginning than that interview with Brie Larsen.
He perked up because his brain was releasing endorphins, dopamine and serotonin which happens when people eat really spicy things. It can give a euphoric type of feeling which is why people usually perk up and become amusing towards the end.
@@olgasmoviehouse I like how it went from shaking his head to openly joking and enjoying himself.
I totally agree about "Sean's magic". In a few years A-list players will be fighting for a spot on this show. Sean is an awesome enterviewer.
The echo edit will never stop being funny 😂 Legitimately one of the main reasons why I watch every episode.
Everyone talking about Jeremy being closed off at the start, I'm still at the start and he seems perfectly comfortable and personable. Especially for someone being interviewed whilst eating hot wings.
People are so used to overly charismatic celebs that when one comes around that just acts like a normal person, they seem really alien in comparison.
Me after a guest asks why Sean is shaking the bottle: Somebody didn't do their homework.
It’s Jeremy Renner, he was too busy floating across my Screen while I watch episodes of Congratulations. WE’RE MOVIN UP!

We need Chris Evans when he starts promoting Lightyear
Please and thank you.
Yes please
I didn't know how much I wanted Chris Evans on the show until I read your comment
been waiting for him to come on this show for too long!!! 🙌🏼
YES!!!
As a fan of Renner it was great seeing such an interview like this, truly getting to know him a little bit more.
BUT I think most of the kudos goes to Sean being such a great host/interviewer that he can get his guest to open up and enjoy the torturous process of the hot wings.
I smiled when I came across your comment and if you don't mind I would love to know more about you, well how are you doing?
“If I fell out, I could make a good 2-3 phone calls before I hit the ground. Like hey man, you know? I’m out” that is so morbidly hilarious 🤣
This man is sort of a real life superhero. He nearly died trying to help others in January, and he has worked hard to get back on his feet in record time. It's a miracle. Keep healing, Jeremy!
Nice. Thoughtful questions and even more so for Renner's answers. Love this stuff! RDJ and Hemsworth next!
Agreed.

I love that even when his guest freak out, Sean Evans just goes with the flow and even does some wacky things to make them feel comfortable so they don’t feel so out of character, definition of a great host.
Love seeing how Jeremy developed from "Just another boring interview" from "I ❤ Sean"
Wind River is such an underrated movie, it's a crime. I dig this episode. Hot Ones kills it every time...
Ehhh, pretty derivative with cartoon villains 🤷
Renner broke my heart in Wind River. So good.
“You’re a fucking sadist!!!” 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Talk about an honest, unrehearsed reaction. And I wonder how poor Sean the Sadist felt after that comment! 🤣🤣🤣

Thanks so much for your understanding
Holy shit mayor props to Sean. Jeremy really came with the wrong energy thinking this was just a macho show but Sean was able to reach into him, match his energy and bring him back to make a really satisfying episode where Jeremy realized he isn't here to prove something to anyone, he's just here to have a good time...and get murdered by DA bomb of course.
Macho show? No one thinks eating chicken wings is macho.
@@TiredAmerican247 you've never had da bomb

what's an example of this? i didn't feel any macho energy from Renner he's just talking and having fun and respecting that the wings might be really tough from the start?
I feel like this show will go on forever and I hope it does tbh. There’s never enough episodes of hot ones.
Have tremendous respect for him, he's really solid and I wish only the best for him!
It would be pretty cool if Robert Pattinson came in this show when the promotions of the Batman starts in mid winter, it would be the most funniest and chaotic segment of hot ones.
Some of the sauces might even help find that "bat voice" ^^
That movie is gonna kill.
Renner panicking when Sean picked up the Last Dab had me dying.
That was my favorite part of the interview. The genuine concern in his face was too much. 😆
Jeremy seems like a grumpy dad but who can be cool from time to time. Fun interview overall.
You know what I love about this show, is that you not only find out the guests background and interests, especially with those "one of a kind questions" asked ( brilliant).. Is that you see how they react under pressure.... They are all so amazing. Love this! And love from Canada!
His innocence when he said, "what are you doing with that one?!" Was it for me.
I love Sean's homage to Paul Rudd at the end when he says, 'Look at us, who would've thought? Not me" Fuckin perfect lmfaoo
ua-cam.com/video/gWVHses2GCY/v-deo.html I went to go look up this exact quote :D
Kind of surprised that Jeremy didn’t look up Paul Rudd HO interview. If there is one episode you have to watch before going on this show, it’s that one.
Did you see the episode a couple of episodes ago when someone said “look at us” and they put a voice over of Paul Rudd over the top haha
This started off slow… but as it got spicier it was like renner was getting more and more drunk and more fun lol.
Really? I thought compared to every other person I've seen I legitimately wondered if he was even eating spicy wings and not acting. "Comoared".
@@0001captainawesome only bc… why start now with fake spicy wings…

@@louiet475 I'm sure they've done it before to secure a certain person on the show

Think Sean and his partner Chris does the questions
He said “let me find peace for a minute” 😂 What a mood.

Who did he change your opinion about if you don’t mind me asking ?
@@madfree101 Russell Brand, Shia LaBeouf, and Anthony Mackey. I hope everyone else noticed Shaun's "who woulda thought? Not me." line as a throw back to Paul Rudd's episode LOL
Thanks. I didn't understand why he said that- and it was the first time I thought he said something of a faux pas.
Dude, Jeremy is a champ. He took the hit, shook it off, and continued with the interview. Not a lot of people, were able to take Da Bomb well.
It was cool to see Jeremy just enjoy himself. Sometimes it looks like he hates interviews and doesn't care to be there. But u could tell by the middle or so he was enjoying himself at hot ones.
"It's great, I'm into it." - Jeremy Renner as he starts to bite into Da Bomb.
Well that won't last long
It goes to show you that celebrities prefer to be on hot ones knowing full well they will go through hell, but also be asked insightful questions then go to other medias same boring questions like "how can you go to the bathroom in that costume" or "are you wearing underwear in that outfit?". Why I love Hot Ones. Someone who actually does the research and ask fun great questions. Get us to know these people better than anything.
The notable progression from rough tough JR to man loving Paul Rudd JR, is due to the wings working their magic. This was a hot one 🔥

Watching this now and hearing him say "see you at the ER" is a little eerie.
the fact that Jeremy hates being there makes the whole interview so much more entertaining.
