Yeah, now it's basically a mix of people being very pleasantly surprised and people that actually seek out the opportunity of coming to the show, because they know it's one of best interviewers (if not THE best, because it's honestly hard for me to thing of an alive interviewer that would even equal him) in the industry.
Sean is absolutely the "That's a good question." king. How many times do we have to hear his guests remark "Wow! That's an incredible question." "No one has ever asked me that before." "Where did you dig that up?" and so on to set this man on the interviewer pedestal where he belongs. There has to be some award, right? Ed Helms is a genuinely nice guy! I’m a banjo player and met him many years ago at a bluegrass jam at a small bar in NYC. The jam ended kind of early. That was an interesting one. Ed with the snot running down his nose and his eyes practically bleeding but keeping the composure and keeping the professionalism. Wild.
I love seeing guests' happy reaction when Sean brings up a not so popular project of them, you can see how proud they are of their work and it shows in their excitement, this episode was so wholesome.
Hey Dad, I appreciate the sentiment. However, you said you were going to get cigarettes and milk like 9 years ago and you never came back. Is that the fatherly personality you're referring to?
It always amazes me how intelligent and well composed these A-List celebrities are on your show. They come off as so human, it's refreshing. These people really do deserve to be where they are in life. I think we get caught up on judging them on the characters they portray. Really great people. Thank you Sean.
@@fchampd4512 it’s not really that odd since on TV every interview is so rehearsed and fabricated, of course they’re human but you often don’t see that side.
we would have seen this side of them a long time ago, if their other interviews from big companies weren't as repetitive, robotic and unemotional.. or you know, all about drama. we only see this here because they most times aren't prepared for questions that ask about their own lives, rather than the the movie or product they're selling.. well not til the end when they get the free plu
I actually did have to watch an episode of hot ones for a qualitative research methods class in grad school! I knew when I saw that on the syllabus that it would be a good class
What a great guy. So humble and sweet. The way he read the voice over bit at the end when he was clearly on fire! Super professional and he came across really well. I love it when these “celebs” don’t take themselves super seriously. He has a really soothing voice too, he should read audio books.
Sean is just such an incredible host, really. His charisma is just off the charts by just being himself and you can see this when guests compliments him for doing his research. He rarely ever responds to it, much less with a sinple 'thank you' because for him it is necessary to research your guests, not an obligation but a must. Keep up the good work, Sean and the Hot Ones! 🤘
Funny considering theirs an entire team of probably around 30 people that do literally everything for him, including research. That's why he always sounds like he's reading (poorly) from a script. It amazes me you guys think he's an amazing host when he's clearly mediocre at best and is only the host because he's the one dude out of the 40 that can handle hot wings.
Special effects = things that happen practically on set captured by the camera Visual effects = CGI, compositing, editing or things added AFTER filming
Not surprising at all actually. Most comedian actors / actresses are pretty cool people. And after Ed helms gave a speech at his alumni college way back it was obvious dude is humble
"Are you seriously trying to still do this interview right now?" ...and then he fields the next two questions brilliantly!😆 What makes Ed such a favorite for me is he's the Southern/Midwestern small town guy who has no idea that he's the Southern/Midwestern small town guy. He makes the best of everything. So great. #OberlinOvertones #trustSean
I've never seen Ed in any interviews or anything, but man he just seems so genuine and likable. I used to think he was a bit much in the Hangover, but the more I see of Ed, the more I've come to really appreciate him. He seems like someone I'd love to just have a casual dinner with and shoot the shit. Thanks First We Feast & Sean for always allowing us to see more of celebrities and actors, and giving them a down-to-Earth platform.
Ed Helms comes across as such a fantastic gentleman in this episode and my respect for him and what he has done has gone up so much. Absolutely loved this episode - kudos to Sean for bringing out the best in all your guests. What a treat!
All of that came off as ignorant to me! The way he couldn’t wait to leave. Could barely hang around and let Sean finish what he was trying to say and to then say, “Don’t bother!” when offered a BOX of sauces as a memento from this great interview you’ve just talked up!?! Maybe it’s just me but that just seems...off!😒And it spoiled what was, a really good interview. Like, manners bud! Have any?!!
@@louiseb6111 y’all are crazy, it’s clearly a joke. He literally just got done with complimenting the show, and Sean personally. He meant: “Don’t bother (because that stuff just melted my face off, haha!).”
I love Ed, hearing him talking about pimento cheese sandwiches. Seeing his tears and hearing his voice makes me feel he lost his best friend, who was a pimento cheese sandwich.
I’ve been Watching Sean for years, I’ve actually starting taking mental notes on how he talks with his guest. It’s helped me out in my social life so much, I can pick up on something they need mentioned. Then use that topic to ask questions that gets them to open up and talk about themselves,(which most people love doing).
I'm not a big comment writer but this felt so deserved. Hot ones is one of my favourite shows and as an autistic person it's one of my biggest comforts - and the office has to be my number one comfort show! I was so excited to see ed helms on this and watched immediately and it's definitely one of the best episodes :) As always, sean you are an interviewer and host way beyond your time and ed, you are such an amazing, talented person! such a good one :)

I just got to that part of him saying he had a other interview I'd love to see it, after an hour of those sauces sitting in his stomach I bet he was still feeling every wing
I love this show not only because of the celebrities suffering and challenging themselves but also because of Sean and his great research and questions. You always get so much new insights of the guests on a personal level and in a total honest way. Nothing feels staged or scripted. No other "talkshow" can compete here.
My favorite part of this show is seeing people that I think are incredible come on and prove how genuinely cool they are and how much they just love what they do and love bringing people joy. Ed seems like a real one!
I have a huge respect for really good banjo players. Like Ed said, its difficult to make the Banjo sound good and not over power the other instruments. Bluegrass done right is so lovely to listen to.
The odd part is that Sean and the team do such a great job on the deep dive on obscure information on the guests but they can't even give full answers to the questions because they are in so much pain from the sauce.
Yeah, if you pay close attention, Sean will ask significantly more philosophical questions earlier on that invite more stories and as the wings get hotter, he'll ask more simple to answer questions.
Ed's face said it all - eyes, nose, mouth leaking all over his face. SO GOOD. Crew Member: "We will box that all up so you can take it home." Ed: "Don't bother." hahahahaha

I think if these actors will be asked of the most memorable interview they did, this will go down as their number 1 choice not just because of the twist of eating spicy chicken wings but because of how refreshing and surprising the questions are compared to the generic ones they're used to. Kudos to the team and of course the greatest interviewer of all time my man Sean Evans.
It speaks volumes to Sean and his team when he's getting humble appreciations from the guest on the research they've dug into their guests background. Ed Helms is such a great actor, musician and a very funny guy! Amazing episode!
I love how everyone that comes on is impressed by the research done and questions asked. These are the only celebrity interviews I watch because of that. The humans melting is just a bonus.
Each episode is a reminder of how well this format works. The way guests are always caught off guard by Da Bomb & Sean’s perfectly crafted questions is just… *chefs kiss*
That was just a super chill interview that I absolutely enjoyed. It's nice seeing interviews where everyone involved just seems so relaxed and respectful of each other.
When he said ow 🤣🤣🤣 For someone who took part of such an iconic show and has inspired so much emotion in so many people hes so humble and genuine....others do far less and lose all common sense ans self-awareness
One redeeming thing about the banjo. Steve Martin plays it, and he makes it sound good. I will always remember his stand-up routines where he played it on stage.
I literally didn't even know what his name was until now, but he is now one of my favorite actors. If I used Twitter, I would start following him. Big ups to Mr Evans too for his millionth baller interview. Props to the researchers and the staff too.
I loved Ed Helms's UA-cam bluegrass videos during the height of the pandemic. The artists that he had on his show really made me a fan of folk/bluegrass music. I'm glad to see him on the Hot Ones show.

Ed Helms seems like such a genuine person. He has that fatherly personality.
What is that
Hey Dad, I appreciate the sentiment. However, you said you were going to get cigarettes and milk like 9 years ago and you never came back. Is that the fatherly personality you're referring to?
@@sentientcardboarddumpster7900 💀💀
It always amazes me how intelligent and well composed these A-List celebrities are on your show. They come off as so human, it's refreshing. These people really do deserve to be where they are in life. I think we get caught up on judging them on the characters they portray. Really great people. Thank you Sean.
It always amazes me how these things amazes people
@@fchampd4512 it’s not really that odd since on TV every interview is so rehearsed and fabricated, of course they’re human but you often don’t see that side.
we would have seen this side of them a long time ago, if their other interviews from big companies weren't as repetitive, robotic and unemotional.. or you know, all about drama.
we only see this here because they most times aren't prepared for questions that ask about their own lives, rather than the the movie or product they're selling.. well not til the end when they get the free plu
These interviews should be part of every journalism class... the questions are brilliant... the whole research they put into it is just impressive.
I actually did have to watch an episode of hot ones for a qualitative research methods class in grad school! I knew when I saw that on the syllabus that it would be a good class
Funny cuz most the time Sean just says I read your book.
That “don’t bother” at the very end was the deepest cut I’ve heard on this show since Idris Ilba wanted to fight the shows creator...😆

It's nice to see "Andy" and "Jim" working together again.

What a great guy. So humble and sweet. The way he read the voice over bit at the end when he was clearly on fire! Super professional and he came across really well. I love it when these “celebs” don’t take themselves super seriously. He has a really soothing voice too, he should read audio books.
"I wish there was a way to know you're in the good old days before you've actually left them."

I feel like this comment is literally on every video. Some iteration of it anyways. Very insightful.
Bro. Why this gotta be said in every video. We all know he is good! That's one reason why we are still here
Funny considering theirs an entire team of probably around 30 people that do literally everything for him, including research.
That's why he always sounds like he's reading (poorly) from a script.
It amazes me you guys think he's an amazing host when he's clearly mediocre at best and is only the host because he's the one dude out of the 40 that can handle hot wings.

Good thinking
And how does he do that?
Same, it helped my social life too. I now always bring hotwings to any conversation I have
I remember seeing Ed Helms at the Telluride Bluegrass Festival, he wasn't playing, he was attending. That man does indeed love the banjo.
I don't even like banjo but a Steve Martin Ed Helms team up would be pretty amazing.
I didn't think it was possible for enough people to like bluegrass for there to be an entire festival.

Thank you for bringing him on your show. Now it makes since why Andy talked like that in The Office and The Hangover movies are AWESOME!!
