I hate it when arrogant people say that ballet isn't hard or isn't a sport. I've been a ballet dancer for 15 years and I get told this all the time. I just feel like saying "Okay then. If its easy, you should be able to do 32 fouettes on pointe" - and then I watch them fall and snap their ankle.... I won't even feel bad for them. Sounds mean but that's karma for underestimating the strength of ballet 😂🙂
It may seem like that one teacher is always picking on Alec but what I think it's all about is that he sees that Alec has what it takes, and he wants him to get the most out of it. In ballet, getting a personal correction is almost an honor because it means your teacher thinks you have what it takes to be one of the best and believes you can achieve it.
Sarah St-Pierre yesss. when I used to do tap the teacher would always pick on me. one day i cried because the pressure was too much so she cancelled our class early and told me it’s because she thought i was the best. but i quit because i wanted to do skating which is a lot harder 😂 and now i’m playing volleyball :)
I love Alec's good attitude about being corrected. That is going to help him learn more quickly and effectively. It can be hard to keep a good attitude when being corrected so personally and so often (this goes for all the students), but all of them seem to be really professional. I love watching them! Its fun to be able to watch the dancing instead of drama :)
Emma Davis personally I feel honored to get personally corrected by my teachers because it means they see something in me and wants to help me achieve it.
My father compelled me to do basketball when a was younger but I've always had a passion for dance. I got stop eventually when I broke my wrist though he tried to pressure me into going there again.. I sucked at basketball so much I was a burden for the team and got bullied by the other girls and the coach, one day though the coach asked me what sport I actually wanted to do. I said "I want to dance but my parents think it's not a real sport", she answered "Well they're right" and this stayed in my head till this day. I've been doing contemporary dance for 3 years now and I'm literally living the best years of my life, I've never been so happy! In class my teacher always say I have a lot of potential and she says it's a shame I didn't start dancing when I was smaller... Don't let others bring you down! Do whatever it is you instinctively feel like doing because you're probably be really good at it! And for those who judge dance or dancers as lazy&easy I fucking dare you to do stand on pointe or even get in a correct seconde position and then come back at me...
+Channie's 여자친구 ♥ Awwww sorry you have to go through that . My mom encourage me to join dancing and since then i joined ballroom dancing and my school's dancing club which we learn contemporary dancing . But its my dad that doesnt like me dancing .He said that dancing will not help you earn much money. *Sigh* Asian parents. My grades were failing and my dad forced me to quit dancing . It was the worst day of my life . Imagine tell your dance teacher that you have to quit . Wish i can go back soon *sorry for my broken english too*
+iRaya well then show then you can dance.People sometimes think BECAUSE your not a certain color of skin that your worthless but thats not true .prove all the people wrong and show then you can do it
Thank you for bringing the light. I had very similar problem on your own. Never choose something you have no passion and will to do, even if that would be for the sake of your dear parents. Because this is your life and this is your way to live it.
... being a ballerina is super hard. I’m not sure why you’re Jealous when you can follow your dream. Maybe you don’t have enough money, which I understand because my family doesn’t always have money either. But you can take a cheap class with an amazing teacher and be just as amazing and talented.
yeah, no....be happy you aren't doing this, lol. Basically, you have to do everything right. You have to squeeze your body super hard, have mucles made of stone, but still look graceful. You could be in 100% pain, and still have a smile on your face. Not to mention the pointe shoes.
Ive been a dancer all of my life and I do ballet, tap, modern, jazz, lyrical, contempry and I hate it when people go "dance is not a sport" because its all the requirements of sports and more so no, maybe its not a sport....... but its much harder. WWWOOOOOWWWW THAT GOT DEEP
that got really deep hahaha but you're soo right! I've been a dancer since I was 3 years old. People always told me that dance wasn't a real sport. Now I'm dancing for like 11 years and I prove them all wrong!!
I don't know anybody who doesn't have mad respect for ballerinas. Strength, grace, elegance and beauty!!! So wonderful, thanks for sharing your art with the world!
Of course it's more of an art- it requires much more gruesome physical ability yet it looks so graceful and flawless. It's an honor that ballet is an art
I'll always remember how proud your brother was when he told me that you got into New York. I'm sure your family are still super duper proud to see how well you're doing Alec.
Sarah ashely Harder to master.... yes. Harder daily rigor? No... My daughter is en pointe and my son is a middle line backer. They both have practice and exercise daily, mastering strength and coordination in harmony. I have seen my daughter practice till her feet bled and my son is run at practice until someone vomits and tackling plays aren't over until someone has a concussion.
Ikr. I started a few months ago because I always wanted to do ballet and you know, looks so beautiful and easy and now that I dance, holy shit, ballet dancers have all of my respect. It's really hard!
I love that when a student didn't know a part, the instructor just said, "oh, ok, we'll go over it" instead of getting upset that a student didn't know what they were doing
Do it NOW! Summer classes are getting ready to start everywhere! Just take from a nice studio, even an adult class if you have to. Do research, and just go for it. :D
This young man is soo strong in his mind. It takes allot to do something U enjoy, that do what ur friends or family do. Which I'm sure some sport is what his father wanted for him. No SHADE... but I can see he's carrying his weight in his chest, and it keeps throwing him off. But like this teacher is telling him, U can change ur self to meet the dance. Mamma loves Ballet !!! 💙 Mamma ~Dee~
I love this series! I really wish that a TV show would make a series about this. I know the they had that one on Nickelodeon but this one would be diff if its from SAB. Its more professional I feel.
I agree so much with Alec about people thinking that dance is easy. If they had classes, they would die. It's like a super power to be able to do ballet
That bit about them going out and eating junkie food brought me some memories back. I used to be a dancer (street dance) and once I was with my crew in a multiple dances show (literally all kinds of dances making small presentations through the day). Once everything was over we were on the backstage and my crew were talking about going to McDonald's to celebrate the good day of dancing. We invited the ballet dancers that were there, but their coach didn't let them come. Our coach even tried to talk to their coach, but she wasn't having it. We felt really bad because the ballerinas looked pretty sad for not coming having fun with us. So I'm glad to see that they can actually go out to have fun once in a while
In my youth I was a dancer but my parents never showed any interest in my artistic capabilities. I do hope my children will achieve more in the arts than i had the chance of achieving. If that is the path they choose.
Wow! I have so much respect of ballett and love it really much❤ I dance ballett as well, but only as a hobby and I think this series is amazing😍 (Sorry if there are grammatical mistakes, I'm from Germany😅)
Thank you so much for this... it’s inspiring! Like I sometimes feel like giving up but seeing stuff this always gives me strength! Being a dancer in general is not easy at all!
I have been dancing since I was little but I started ballet just 3 months ago, 1 month before my 16th birthday, I’m so disappointed that I didn’t start earlier because I would’ve loved to be able to go onto being a professional ballerina, the shows look incredible and I just love ballet
Swimming and Ballet are respectfully, and truly, two of the most hardest sports out there. That’s what I believe. As a swimmer, I know. But watching these videos opened up my eyes, possibly wider. Idk where the swimming came from in this statement, lol. Just kind of respecting the two sports for a second and how much physical and mental strength you must have and gain to do either of em’.
It was so poetic and awesome and the bomb, and the ONLY show I fangirl over. I'm glad people still care about that show. It makes me secretly want to dance, yet live live to the fullest for all its worth. Brace+Tristan forever!
Im a dancer and its painful and we try to make it look pain less like a month ago i had this show and i serisly had a bad injury but i had to dance through it i love ballet
I want to learn to do ballet, not pro but just as a hobby. The problem is, I'm 16 and I can't find any beginner classes, they're all for kids or adults...
+Lucy Morton That's pretty difficult, since nearly everywhere that teaches ballet teaches it very strictly. It's not really a hobby people have, it's either you give it your all or not. Where I am though, I do it as a hobby. My school is pretty lax, and they teach dance for you to enjoy it, not work at it. It's great for an extra curricular, but unless you put in most of the work yourself, you're not going to be anywhere near the level these dancers are. You probably can find somewhere that teaches a number of styles of dance, that ensure not everything is focused on ballet, therefore it's not as strict. That's my school, they teach several styles, but this other school only does ballet, and the difference in the level of skill is very obvious. Honestly, I prefer it as a hobby, it's way cheaper. These schools require perfect stockings, a set leotard, etc. That can be expensive cause it means a single hole in your stockings requires you to throw them out, even when you can still use them and dance perfectly fine in them. Also, every level has a different coloured leotard, which means when you move up, the previous level's leotards kind of go to waste, even if they're new and in good condition. It really sucks because almost everything in dance is expensive. Like I said, our school is easy going, you could come to class in any leotard and holes all over your stockings and your hair in a ponytail (almost everyone does that) and it's nothing. Our school does have a uniform, but it's very lax. Like my tap class, we wear whatever we want. I could show up in a pair of jeans and still dance (I actually did that once). We've worn everything; t shirts, leggings, jazz pants, shorts, crop tops, etc. Personally, I think you should be allowed to dance in holed stockings or different coloured leotards, since it's about your dancing, not what you wear. But I do understand that these schools have a high standard, standards only a few could reach (you'd notice most of it's students come from privileged families). The lax schools may not give you the skill to continue, but it's fun, cheaper and you get a basic understanding.
Damn! That's the story of my life! And even if I found a studio my parents wouldn't let me. They think ballet is beautiful but they don't want me to get hurt 😂
wow the stuff they do during the day looks so hard, and it looks kinda terrifying to have to move away from your family but they look like they're having so much fun! i feel like the reward they get after, like getting to hang out and stuff really makes up for all the sweat. and the food sounds really good hahaha
There's videos on here where football players join a ballet class, and at the end, they agree that yes, dance is a sport, it's hard, and it's beneficial. YES!! (Now if people could get this about horseback riding too...)
I really want to do dance again. I've done ballet before, but I haven't been truly classically trained. I wish I committed to ballet a couple of years ago and most of all I wish I didn't stop doing dance in general.
LOL with the guy from Australia with the Vegemite. It's our biggest joke now. Seriously if you want to try it properly try it with some bread and butter and a thin layer. Don't layer it on like peanut butter. LOL...unless you want to cause everyone else to laugh. I'd love to know more specifically where he's from to see if I have the accent right.
"She's so much prettier than a suitcase" 😂 hahaha my new catch phrase🙈
New inside joke
If anyone says ballet looks easy, the dancers did everything right...
I just thought the same! 😂😂
Lorena Staiger i dont think it looks easy
If it's easy for you, your doing it wrong.
I hate it when arrogant people say that ballet isn't hard or isn't a sport. I've been a ballet dancer for 15 years and I get told this all the time. I just feel like saying "Okay then. In ballet, getting a personal correction is almost an honor because it means your teacher thinks you have what it takes to be one of the best and believes you can achieve it.
Sarah St-Pierre Perhaps this episode (part) is about Alec, that’s why you see more interaction between him and his teacher.
Sarah St-Pierre
Ina my dance really
Sarah St-Pierre yesss. when I used to do tap the teacher would always pick on me. one day i cried because the pressure was too much so she cancelled our class early and told me it’s because she thought i was the best. but i quit because i wanted to do skating which is a lot harder 😂 and now i’m playing volleyball :)
@@miaplayz1472 haha
i know im like 6 years late but uh this video is only 8 minutes so what you see is not everything that went on
I love Alec's good attitude about being corrected. That is going to help him learn more quickly and effectively. Emma Davis personally I feel honored to get personally corrected by my teachers because it means they see something in me and wants to help me achieve it.
I love what she says about how dancer's need to eat. This shows that eating disorders are especially dangerous in the dancing world.
My father compelled me to do basketball when a was younger but I've always had a passion for dance. I got stop eventually when I broke my wrist though he tried to pressure me into going there again.. I love this series! I've been a dancer since I was 5 and can relate so much to what they're saying even if I'm not at a professional ballet school.
This is making me cry lol I was to and the I stop because I moved I miss it so so much do you know if they have any ballet school's in Georgia
There are ballet school everywhere! I'm not from the area, but I'm sure you could find one.
Jennifer Gutierrez There are many schools all over the country; The Georgia Ballet has a school in Marietta
Ya I have been dancing since I was 2 years old
I starting dancing at 1 and luckily I am dancing at a professional school. When you do ballet, you HAVE to be professional, you wanna share your love.
So SAB is basically like Hogwarts except they're committed to becoming a dancer not becoming a wizard.
exactly
Lol, I love this.
is ur profile picture a drawing of Rey? anyway, it's so cool
Spaaacegirl Yeah. I drew it :)
EmilyMikuChan that's so great!!
God I love watching the way Ballet dancers move. So beautiful. And you make it look so effortless.
Thanks
ty but its really not effortless lel
Grace Wilson Music that's why she said ballet dancers *MAKE* it look effortless 😂
I am literally eating vanilla wafers while watching this. I need to get my life together lol.

I give props to the pianist I wonder what it's like having a real pianist as the music
Rachael Zimmerman it gives the dance and practice so much more interactive and you feel the music in such a different way.
I do at my ballet school (obvs not a pro one)
Ive been a dancer all of my life and I do ballet, tap, modern, jazz, lyrical, contempry and I hate it when people go "dance is not a sport" because its all the requirements of sports and more so no, maybe its not a sport....... but its much harder.
WWWOOOOOWWWW THAT GOT DEEP
It's an art
I adore tap
I do tap,ballet,modern,hip hop,jazz,contemporary, and point ballet.
I'm ten and I'm in two competitive teams and I do point
that got really deep hahaha but you're soo right! I've been a dancer since I was 3 years old. People always told me that dance wasn't a real sport. Now I'm dancing for like 11 years and I prove them all wrong!!
They all seem so nice, cheerful and humble. I hope they all get to realise their dream.
They have realised that their dream is to be a professional ballet dancer..And to be a better ballet dancer :)
Alec is so handsome. And he's totally right about that people don't understand how hard ballet is.
I don't know anybody who doesn't have mad respect for ballerinas. Strength, grace, elegance and beauty!!! So wonderful, thanks for sharing your art with the world!
People who say ballet isn't a sport... They probably couldn't even to a proper adagio.
But it isnt I would more say its art more than a "actual sport"
Of course it's more of an art- it requires much more gruesome physical ability yet it looks so graceful and flawless. It's an honor that ballet is an art
Maddie 1200 k
Oh no I wasn't trying to come off as rather aggressive. Sorry :)
Maddie 1200 no its ok I understand
I'll always remember how proud your brother was when he told me that you got into New York. I'm sure your family are still super duper proud to see how well you're doing Alec.
it makes me so happy that something like teen vogue is showing ballet
"ive been workin on this puppy for a whole 8 years....... and its still busted'' lol!
When I read this he said it haha
+Ally Reilly me too!
Absolutely LOVE this series!!!!!!
Me too!
ME TOO
He announced on instagram this week that he's been accepted as an apprentice to the NYCB. Best of luck Alec! Doing Australia proud.
I think it's funny to watch them bowl because they're all turned out and graceful. All of my friends and I are like that too 😂
I loved seeing them being normal teenagers, having fun altogether, cause you can see how much they are sacrificing to achieve their goals.
Yes Alec!! Representing Australia well :)
I love this series! I love seeing the hard work they do and then to see the beautiful result and to hear their stories. It's so intriguing.
I literally cannot handle the fact that Jock Soto is wearing a lululemon shirt =P
Oh my god those teachers are INCREDIBLE! And the students! Would kill for those lines, legs, and feet!!!
Ballet is probably harder than football....
Too right it is!
LOL PROBABLY? IT IS, I CAN ASSURE YOU XO
Sarah ashely those comparisons suck.
No probably about it:P if dance was easy it would be called football
I love this show ! I'd wish it could be longer though
I am addicted to this show i have been on pointe for a year now and i want this to be my life
I love this series!
Australia has very successful and advanced ballet institutes thank you very much
KEEP THE SERIES GOING!! love tv shows about ballet
“You...... you can’t carry her like you’re carrying a suitcase.”😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Their friendship is so precious, they all have same dream and the way they talk is so gentle
when my friends try telling me ballet is easy i just tell them to do a devlope
Exactly
PREACH.
Amen to that lol
ask them for any pointe turn or leap
Lol same......
At first, I thought ballet was easy, so I decided to take classes. Today was my first class, and my legs were burning afterwards.
Ikr. I started a few months ago because I always wanted to do ballet and you know, looks so beautiful and easy and now that I dance, holy shit, ballet dancers have all of my respect. It's really hard!
-"It's not that bad"
-"Maybe you're Australian"
hahahah
I love that when a student didn't know a part, the instructor just said, "oh, ok, we'll go over it" instead of getting upset that a student didn't know what they were doing
This is my fave series of dance next to dance academy and dance moms
Very inspiring series! Especially seeing kids my age living such a different lifestyle!
I love Alec's attitude towards correction
Godamnit i want to do ballet again!!
Do it NOW! Summer classes are getting ready to start everywhere! Just take from a nice studio, even an adult class if you have to. Do research, and just go for it. :D
ballet dancers have such beautiful bodies.

"Dancers are athletes. If you don't eat, you can't dance." BINGO! Thank you Stephanie! Love ALL of you!! 🩰☺💞
Next time some one says ballet is not a sport I'm going to send this video to them.
Love it! They're amazing dancers
I enjoyed the video. Those kids are really working hard.
I love the series and i wish i had friends like them
Ballet in my opinion ballet is the hardest sport ever
I want to learn to do ballet, not pro but just as a hobby. The problem is, I'm 16 and I can't find any beginner classes, they're all for kids or adults...

But I do understand that these schools have a high standard, standards only a few could reach (you'd notice most of it's students come from privileged families). The lax schools may not give you the skill to continue, but it's fun, cheaper and you get a basic understanding.
Some adult classes accept 17 year olds. Maybe just try waiting a year?
I'm not even a dancer but I'm so interested in watching this!!
I'd really love to see a football player on their toes...
Yeah! Lol
Lol so would i
There's videos on here where football players join a ballet class, and at the end, they agree that yes, dance is a sport, it's hard, and it's beneficial. YES!! (Now if people could get this about horseback riding too...)
this show is my life
Alec and the other guys doing “The Four Little Swans” as a victory odance! hahahaha so funny hehe ☠️☠️😂😂😂
I love dancing and competing. Ballet has always been my favorite style at dance and it is a dream of my to dance at the School of American Ballet
I really want to do dance again. I've done ballet before, but I haven't been truly classically trained. I wish I committed to ballet a couple of years ago and most of all I wish I didn't stop doing dance in general.
in ballet, I'm in senior level 4 and I love it😊
Lol, the boys dancing dance of the cygnets from swan lake was funny :P
Alec is just so adorable
“She’s so much prettier than a suitcase” I’m dead😂
Some observations are way to mean.. But if that helps the dancers, i'm glad
2019??
No just me. That's fine
They're really good and you can't judge the next thing I say since I dance at the Elmhurst school of ballet. Half of those guys are rolling
My daughter does ballet and I love her dance.🙂
