This was really good. Different from other AP. I thought I’d miss seeing actual players and the dice rolls but it didn’t affect my enjoyment. Only sometimes I wasn’t sure which character was talking - if you could make the tokens light up or pulse when the character speaks this AP would go from Awesome to Epic!
Loving this so far! The presentation is excellent and the players seem to be having fun, whilst staying in character/on theme. Looking forward to the next one!
I have the Dragonbane QuickStart and it seems pretty cool. This is a nice example of play from the first adventure. I’m thinking of getting the boxed set. I like the mechanics but don’t like the rule that monsters always hit unless PCs use their action to dodge/parry. Seems a little unfair. As GM I would allow players to dodge/parry or save as applicable to monster attacks giving them a chance of not taking a hit. And I would still allow them to attack on their turn. Otherwise it seems like a good game to try.
That's the route I'm thinking of going as well, one might have to tweak a couple of heroic abilities but nothing more. I highly recommend the core set.
You are aware that there is a difference between opponents and monsters. Of you meet an orc, they have to roll to hit. Monster a cut from a different cloth. And they can be dodged, but not parried? And letting people the opportunity to dodge and attack is much like being in full defense and still attack, or basically give players 2 Actions, in D&D
Monsters hitting automatically is a core thing for the tactics. It's also why the GM rolls on the monster attack table. Maybe it doesn't attack with it's big hit. Maybe it's a fear attack instead. Maybe it's a lesser attack that the tank's armor can absorb. It's not meant to be "fair". It's meant to represent a real challenge and a real threat. There's a necessary tactical shift between fighting "NPCs" like goblins and skeletons and fighting a monster. Players need to adapt and figure out the best way to use their one action.
@@cruciblegaminggroup5471 yeah it would be a shame. I seen a Minotaur get hacked in 2 rounds, in a play example. If they don't hit automatically, they will never get to feel dangerous. See it as it's a way of making a Solo monster, a threat that can go alone against a party. It's like saying that Lair actions or legendary saves and actions are unfair in D&D
@@greystorm9974 When I first read the rules, that monsters always hit, I thought it was a bad idea. In play though it's brilliant. Players underestimate a monster or think they're no threat.
Great stuff. Our own game is very similar, I've heard bits and pieces of other actual play videos and often player's and ref tend to dick around in ways players probably wouldn't
@@UpturnedTable Liked and subscribed. I caught the second episode, hope to see more soon. I got the boxed set a couple months ago, and plan to run the whole campaign at the end of this month. It looks like a great system, and the boxed set is such great value for money! Thanks and good luck with your channel.

Good idea! Using the character art to show the speaker is a great idea. Thanks for watching!

Second session on the way! Thanks is for watching!
Best dragonbane table I've seen so far. It would be great if you could do a video explaining the mechanics.
Good stuff. Nice to listen too before running my own.
Really enjoyable stuff. More please!
Thanks for doing this! Well done!
This is brilliant, as i noted on the other video
This was excellent! Thanks for putting this together.

Great episode guys! Will there be a episode two any time soon?
Coming soon! Thanks for watching!
Those vampire bats nearly TPK'd my players - they barely made it through the doors alive. Then later they used some spells to clean them out.
Aodhan is an Irish/Gaelic name. Its pronounced like Aon (ay-on)
Thank you! And thanks for watching.
