I think there's some kind of psychological phenomenon, some quirk of the human mind, which may not happen with every single person in existence but it does seem to happen with a huge amount of people, where when the person feels like he has some kind of moral, ethical or other kind of high ground, feels like he is much more knowledgeable and superior to others, he thinks that he can lecture others on what to do but doesn't need to it himself. It's like the irresponsible parent syndrome, where a parent tells his kids not to do something that he himself is doing.
