Thank you, Doc for bringing Dr. Laurie and introducing her to us. You both are very special to me and I will continue to lift you up in prayer. I love you both and I love the school. I have learned alot but need to get back into it. The Covid had me down so long, that I am just getting back into it. Keep up the good work. We need both of you. Love you both
Great information, I bought a Russian Comfrey plant last year so that the seeds wouldn't invade my garden, it grew well and I am looking forward to seeing it again this year, thank you for your time and effort, much appreciated, both of you.
Thanks I really enjoyed this video with you and Lori, I hope you do more like this. Its great to learn about how the herbs grow, very helpfully information.
First time on your channel, I came here because of your smiling faces. I thoroughly enjoyed and learned a lot, thank you very much. I subscribed and am sharing.
you two are a beautiful couple. My comfrey plant is my most prized thing on the property. I mainly just dry the leaves and make them into a salve that I use for my sore aching joints. and just last week I had a terrible toothache and couldn't get in to see the dentist for a couple of days, I was desperate to make the pain stop so I could get some sleep, so I finally put some comfrey infused olive oil on my aching tooth and boy did it help, I would get about 4 hours sleep. wonderful plant
I appreciate your video I was just talking to a friend about needing to get some comfrey I think it will grow here I am in zone 8B in Northwest Florida. Are used to have a fabulous bed of comfrey in Washington state. Your type of raised beds do not work here in Florida because of the extreme humidity it causes serious molds and mildews to grow off of the buried wood. When we take down the tree we try to take the root system out as well otherwise you have grass problems it will be diseased because of the gases mold and fungus is things like that coming off of the roots of the tree.
I think comfrey will grow about anywhere. Interesting that Hugelkultur is a bad idea in semi-tropical places. Thanks for sharing. Doc Jones homegrownherbalist.net/about-the-school/
Hi Doc & Doc! My sister gifted me a comfrey start from her plant, and I put it under my oldest apple tree (which had gone into decline). This fall I cut leaves off & placed them under my raspberries. I can't wait until it's grown enough that I can divide and put under my other fruit trees & bushes. Nice to see your wife, but I can't help but notice she's VERY quiet (compared...;-)...to you!), but pretty much every word out of her mouth is helpful information - how wonderful!
I love this!!!! Please do more videos together. Thank you for all the information you share and the informative and entertaining content. Many Blessings!
In addition to all the other very helpful uses of comfrey, we found that one of our dogs absolutely loves it. He doesn't eat it, he just likes to snuggle up right smack in the middle of a nice lush comfrey plant (he happens to be a German Shepherd that weighs about 90 lbs). What's amusing to me is that the comfrey plants don't mind a bit; he smooshes them down and they just spring right back up in the next day or two. We've been using comfrey tea and mulch for a few years now and I'm very pleased with it. We're expanding our gardens this year by putting in a bunch of fruit trees and native trees and berry bushes, and we're putting in a comfrey plant by each tree/bush or pair of them. We started by purchasing six pieces of Bocking 14 root, and now we have an essentially unlimited supply. I was pleased to hear about using comfrey tea as a spray to control molds and mildews; I will try that for certain. There are a couple varieties of plants that we really like, but always seem to get attacked hard by powdery mildew or fungal diseases every year.
Nice to meet Lori. I have learned so much from dr Jones over the years. From vids and your books. And have used some of your herb formulas. One day hope to find a place to grow more of my own.
Great video, loved to meet Dr. Laurie. I have some comfrey in a raised bed that has 30-year weed block under it. Super easy to harvest the roots because they have not been able to work through the weed block yet. I let it flower for the bees. The bumblebees have been counting on it. Their numbers have been low and the drought has not been helping them. You did fill your "Hügelkultur" with soil right and not dirt? Thank you for the work that you do. I have been enjoying the herbal teas I purchased from your online store.
I'm so glad I found your YT channel. Ya'll are just great. After just watching a few of your videos I've already learned a wealth of information. God bless you and thank you both for sharing.❤️
Just curious I talked to your staff couple days ago and they said that you were thinking about making another book is that true and if so when I brought it got two
I'm Currently working on three new books: Medicinal Trees & Shrubs Medicinal Mints Herbal Medicine for Animals My other two books are available here: homegrownherbalist.net/product-category/herbal-education-products/books/
Magnificent. Thank you! My comfrey has come along nicely in a raised bed for about the last four years. I was chopping of the green leaves in the Fall and throwing them on the compost pile, but after seeing this, I’m not going to put that effort into it in the Fall. 😃
Thanks Mark. I have a soft spot for the Emerald Isle...best music in the world. I play Irish flute and whistle (and fiddle with the fiddle and the Uilleann pipes). Lori & I and our many kids had a family band for years. I used to own irishflutestore.com but sold it years ago to Blayne Chastain who's doing a great job...he plays much better than I do too. But don't tell him I said so. LOL Doc Jones homegrownherbalist.net/about-the-school/
Thank you for sharing. I have the sterile variety you mentioned and it is also good for animal feed, keeps rabbits healthy My fruit and nut trees love the comfrey tea!
Could you tell me about any toxic aspect of Comfry, if any? And i heard someone, who is in no way an herbalist say, Comfry causes cancer. Thanks for your help.
Good to see your wife, Dr. Lori! Praying for many blessings for you both!

I enjoyed this and learned something too. I'm going to dig up some of my little comfrey plants and plant it under my fruit trees.
Good idea. They make a great chop and drop compost.

So which comfrey is the one we can make an infusion to drink, because I have one that looks like common comfrey i think.
Either one. They're both the same medicinally.

Does your wife have a channel on UA-cam? Midwifery?
Thank you
I was told not to use comfrey on folks with artificial knees or anyone with pins, bolts in their body. Is this true?
Magnificent. Thank you! My comfrey has come along nicely in a raised bed for about the last four years. I was chopping of the green leaves in the Fall and throwing them on the compost pile, but after seeing this, I’m not going to put that effort into it in the Fall. 😃

Wish I could grow comfrey here in TX. Starts out great but hates the excess heat. But I used it to heal other plants while I had it.
