I used to ride competitively in South Africa my best mare got a three corner cut on her Joint it meant she would have been out of action for the season. A comfrey poultice healed it so fast she was able to compete and win!! From then on I have always had comfrey in my yard.

Last year my horse sustained a digital flexor tendon tear. I made a poultice out of comfrey leaves and roots. The vet told me we would be looking at 9-12 months recovery. We were back to light work in 6 months. I chose not to do stall rest for a variety of reasons, but I am a firm believer the comfrey accelerated the healing process.

By that time I was hand walking him around the property. The poultice is something my dad taught me to do when I was little and we would cover it in plastic wrap before wrapping it with a bandage. I didn’t want to put more stress on Harleys tendons or ligaments so I did not wrap. Instead I added beeswax to make it thicker and allowed it to stay on. Doc Jones mentioned something about a tincture which piqued my interest. He might have a better method, but it worked regardless. My dad would also steam a fresh leaf and wrap around the injury, covering in plastic wrap for several hours. It works remarkably well too. The only thing I would caution on is using it on an open wound. Sometimes it can heal too quickly and trap infection in if not properly cleaned.
This is so timely! Our dog just had hyper parathyroid ablation and they also discovered a tumor on her adrenal gland. She is a Mongolian herding dog and I am going to start making her food. I have researched that going forward giving her homemade food will be better for her than feeding her so much stuff that I can’t even pronounce. I’ve had to cook for my dog for 14 years. He’s allergic to the world for the most part but cooking for him has been very beneficial for him. He got one allergy shot a year till 5 year’s ago and because of his age I stopped getting them. He will be 15 in September and is a bichon frise. He has skin tags and cataracts now but gets around just fine. Even has puppy moments. They are getting fewer but that’s expected at his age. I cook a big batch of chicken and veggies once a week. I add rice for the bulk so he’s not starving by morning and it’s the only grain he can eat.

Doc is the best! The HomeGrown Herbalist School is dynamite for an in-depth, well-rounded herbal education. I have been in the school for a few years now and it's one of the best things I've done to further my education and learn about herbal medicine in an organized way from someone very grounded and knowledgeable. I can't say enough about how great it is! The longer I practice, the more confidence I gain from experience. My understanding and abilities with herbal medicine benefit my family and friends on a weekly, if not daily basis.

Our Chocolate Labrador ate berries and grapes. He picked them himself. He weighed 95+ pounds and wasn't fat. He was easily the height of a Chessy but muscular - registered Labrador.

My understanding was that chocolate for dogs is a matter of allergies. I was told by multiple vets that if your dog has an allergy to it, you'll know immediately. If they don't have the allergy, then the worst they'll get is diarrhea (for my sized dogs at least).

This was a great video, as was the tour through Carolyn’s herbal garden. I wish I had known about Doc this past winter when I had two sick chickens, that I eventually lost after months of care. I really miss their beautiful large, blue eggs and gentle temperaments.
We had a German Short-hair Pointer..A friend brought us some homemade peanut butter/chocolate bars as we were leaving for the night - I put them on Top of the fridge.Silly dog jumped up on the counter and somehow managed to reach and eat the ENTIRE pan..she lived lol
We have a cat that is 9 years old and he had an infection in his jaw. I used organic raw coconut oil. We did take him to the vet. He gave us an antibiotic and a shot that I didn't care to have. It started to come bake that's when I used the coconut oil. It got cleared up but now he is losing a lot of weight. What will help put weight back on I was wondering.
I watch every video. I have for years. I don't comment alot but here goes. What the hell, why can't people be DECENT just decent. My t.v. is youtube but I wonder if so much of this started with social media. I do believe most people would not say things like ths to peoples faces, but it appears they think it. My Mom' answer to most things was get to work, when people really work they don't have as much time or energy to be crappy. People need to close their mouth and get to work.
I am so glad you guys have introduced me to Doc Jones. I just received my order of calendula powder, yarrow powder, comfrey powder, brigham tea powder, and crampbark tincture. The only one I've used so far is the crampbark, and it's phenomenal! I have a 9-year-old cat who has some systemic allergy, we don't know what, and the itching drives her crazy. She will scratch till her ears are bloody. She now lives in a collar, but she still occasionally scratches her nose till it bleeds, and she's pretty miserable. She also has IBD, so I have to be very careful what she ingests. Any suggestions?
would it be better to ad tincture made from glycerine in the spray bottle or has the alcohol also have some benefits (besides sting tremendous when spraying on an open wound).
Glycerin can grow bacteria so glycerite use on an open wound topically is likely to cause problems. If you dilute the tincture with a little water (1 tsp tincture to 2-4 oz water) the don't sting much. Also, you can just make a tea if you like and spray that on. Doc Jones
Yup. It's all just a question of dosage per pound. I had a client bring me a chihuahua once that was dangerously drunk. He'd been having a party and she'd been taking little sips from anyone' glass that got set on the floor next to a couch or chair. The owner couldn't figure out how she'd gotten so drunk from just taking little sips all night. I had to explain that it doesn't take much booze to get you sloshed if you only weigh four pounds. There are some good raw food diets out there. Primal and Nature's variety are good. Or you can just make your own. There are lots of recipes on the internet. Or, just get a good quality dry food that doesn't have a grain as its main ingredient. Doc Jones
You can just make a tea and use it the same way. But the quickest way is to use a tincture and put 1 tsp tincture into 2-4 oz water. That dilutes the alcohol enough for an open wound to make it's not a deal breaker. Doc Jones

A friend of mine is a dog trainer. She has fed her dogs Raw for more than 10yrs. Her dogs coats are so shiny and they're extremely healthy. I feed my Yorkies fish. The sardines are small, and they LOVE them! If you want to feed veggies you can, but I've found most dogs don't really care for veg much. Some dogs will eat anything if they think it's yours, though 😁 Theres lots of books on feeding raw, even some with recipes using rice. PS, sardines are really stinky! I feed them outside and through in the outdoor garbage can. You could wear gloves too.
I would too, Jen. I just purchased the crockpet diet online and will be trying that. The vet that formulated it lost a pet due to issues that kibble exasperated.

Schools letting kids eat crickets, cricket already in many many types of food, we're being lied to about the dangers, cricket inclusion not on food labels and WEF are in on the great cricket push. There is 1,000 schools in Australia with Cricket 'food' in their canteens.

As someone who lost a beloved lab to chocolate overdose, please don't play with fire. We were able to get his tummy pumped and charcoal was given but his poor heart couldn't survive it. We still can't figure out how he reached it...
I cannot believe I didn't see a notification when this episode was posted! Thank the good Lord I noticed the thumbnail, great video! My dog has congestive heart disease and is on fluorosamide (no idea how to spell that) & enalapril - I've been watching Doc Jones' videos on herbal medicine and I'm going to see if my vet would be willing to work with me on transitioning her from pharmaceuticals to herbs. Having taken her to two other vets who I was completely dissatisfied with, her current vet's first move was to slowly reduce her Lasix dose by 75%...so she might be willing to try this.
My sons dog was a rescue with horrible skin issues. Her feet bleed from blisters. CSU Veterinary Teaching school prescribed her 20mg of prednisone! (People usually get 10mg or less) I told him to reduce it and to give her dandelion to protect her kidneys and liver. Hes now giving her less than 1/4 of a tablet of prednisone, shes lost 10 lbs, rarely has an episode. Last week she tore her ACL and her bloodwork came back and her kidneys and liver are both in perfect shape. Unfortunately, this is her 2nd ACL surgery this year! The surgery is $5k! This dog has such a personality and he adores her, but she has been so high maintenance. I just feel terrible hes having this problem when everything is so crazy. He seems fine tho.
Unfortunately, there isn't an herb that can fix a torn ACL (anterior cruciate ligament for those watching at home). Sometimes you just need a good mechanic. Good call on the dandelion. :0) Doc Jones

This was a great video, as was the tour through Carolyn’s herbal garden. I wish I had known about Doc this past winter when I had two sick chickens, that I eventually lost after months of care. I really miss their beautiful large, blue eggs and gentle temperaments.
We had a German Short-hair Pointer..A friend brought us some homemade peanut butter/chocolate bars as we were leaving for the night - I put them on Top of the fridge.Silly dog jumped up on the counter and somehow managed to reach and eat the ENTIRE pan..she lived lol

We have a cat that is 9 years old and he had an infection in his jaw. I used organic raw coconut oil. We did take him to the vet. He gave us an antibiotic and a shot that I didn't care to have. It started to come bake that's when I used the coconut oil. It got cleared up but now he is losing a lot of weight. What will help put weight back on I was wondering.
I hope he writes a book for animal treatment..pictures of edibles identifying.how it grows etc.

I watch every video. I have for years. I don't comment alot but here goes. What the hell, why can't people be DECENT just decent. My t.v. is youtube but I wonder if so much of this started with social media. I do believe most people would not say things like ths to peoples faces, but it appears they think it. My Mom' answer to most things was get to work, when people really work they don't have as much time or energy to be crappy. People need to close their mouth and get to work.

I am so glad you guys have introduced me to Doc Jones. I just received my order of calendula powder, yarrow powder, comfrey powder, brigham tea powder, and crampbark tincture. The only one I've used so far is the crampbark, and it's phenomenal! I have a 9-year-old cat who has some systemic allergy, we don't know what, and the itching drives her crazy. She will scratch till her ears are bloody. She now lives in a collar, but she still occasionally scratches her nose till it bleeds, and she's pretty miserable. She also has IBD, so I have to be very careful what she ingests. Any suggestions?

would it be better to ad tincture made from glycerine in the spray bottle or has the alcohol also have some benefits (besides sting tremendous when spraying on an open wound).
Glycerin can grow bacteria so glycerite use on an open wound topically is likely to cause problems. If you dilute the tincture with a little water (1 tsp tincture to 2-4 oz water) the don't sting much. Also, you can just make a tea if you like and spray that on.

Yup. It's all just a question of dosage per pound. I had a client bring me a chihuahua once that was dangerously drunk. He'd been having a party and she'd been taking little sips from anyone' glass that got set on the floor next to a couch or chair. The owner couldn't figure out how she'd gotten so drunk from just taking little sips all night. I had to explain that it doesn't take much booze to get you sloshed if you only weigh four pounds.

What do we feed dogs other than dog food
There are some good raw food diets out there. Primal and Nature's variety are good. Or you can just make your own. There are lots of recipes on the internet. Or, just get a good quality dry food that doesn't have a grain as its main ingredient.

Can the alcohol based spray be made with something besides alcohol? Due to the burning pain from alcohol.
You can just make a tea and use it the same way. But the quickest way is to use a tincture and put 1 tsp tincture into 2-4 oz water. That dilutes the alcohol enough for an open wound to make it's not a deal breaker.

I would like to ask the doctor for some good homemade dog food recipes. Since there’s a shortage of commercial foods, I plan to make my own for my 2 dogs. What kinds of vitamin and mineral supplements would be needed? Thanks!
A friend of mine is a dog trainer. She has fed her dogs Raw for more than 10yrs. Her dogs coats are so shiny and they're extremely healthy. I feed my Yorkies fish. The sardines are small, and they LOVE them! If you want to feed veggies you can, but I've found most dogs don't really care for veg much. Some dogs will eat anything if they think it's yours, though 😁
Theres lots of books on feeding raw, even some with recipes using rice.
PS, sardines are really stinky! I feed them outside and through in the outdoor garbage can. You could wear gloves too.

I would too, Jen. I just purchased the crockpet diet online and will be trying that. The vet that formulated it lost a pet due to issues that kibble exasperated.

Schools letting kids eat crickets, cricket already in many many types of food, we're being lied to about the dangers, cricket inclusion not on food labels and WEF are in on the great cricket push. There is 1,000 schools in Australia with Cricket 'food' in their canteens.

As someone who lost a beloved lab to chocolate overdose, please don't play with fire. We were able to get his tummy pumped and charcoal was given but his poor heart couldn't survive it. We still can't figure out how he reached it...

I cannot believe I didn't see a notification when this episode was posted! Thank the good Lord I noticed the thumbnail, great video! My dog has congestive heart disease and is on fluorosamide (no idea how to spell that) & enalapril - I've been watching Doc Jones' videos on herbal medicine and I'm going to see if my vet would be willing to work with me on transitioning her from pharmaceuticals to herbs. Having taken her to two other vets who I was completely dissatisfied with, her current vet's first move was to slowly reduce her Lasix dose by 75%...so she might be willing to try this.

My sons dog was a rescue with horrible skin issues. Her feet bleed from blisters. CSU Veterinary Teaching school prescribed her 20mg of prednisone! (People usually get 10mg or less) I told him to reduce it and to give her dandelion to protect her kidneys and liver. Hes now giving her less than 1/4 of a tablet of prednisone, shes lost 10 lbs, rarely has an episode. Last week she tore her ACL and her bloodwork came back and her kidneys and liver are both in perfect shape. Unfortunately, this is her 2nd ACL surgery this year! The surgery is $5k! This dog has such a personality and he adores her, but she has been so high maintenance. I just feel terrible hes having this problem when everything is so crazy. He seems fine tho.
Unfortunately, there isn't an herb that can fix a torn ACL (anterior cruciate ligament for those watching at home). Sometimes you just need a good mechanic. Good call on the dandelion. :0)
