This is exactly the kind of dream that I would hate waking up to. Anyone would prefer living in a dream where someone as incredible and out of the box like Hatter exists and would do anything to protect you. But sadly, this is the moral of the story. No matter how desirable and preferable the dream is, and no matter how much we love the people along the way, the real world is waiting for us. We'll always have the memory of that dream and the Hatter to help us through the rough spots.

a part of me really wished the movie ended with Alice seeing hatter outside of wonderland, not as the hatter, Johnny Depp just playing an ordinary guy so she could see him again, because I think it’s hard to deny these two have chemistry, I would have loved to see there relationship grow more throughout the film.

Everyone’s on about “a kiss” but actually it’s more powerful that they didn’t. Not all love is sealed with a kiss but the memories in your heart. And when she returned years later she still remembered even though Hatter thought she wouldn’t. That’s true love. Never forgetting.

Has anyone ever noticed that it seems like Johnny Depp is not only a legend however one of the most brilliant actors. It befuddles me how any man so humble, kind and genuine could be accused of what he has gone through and continues to go through. Anyone with a true genuine heart is not the type to change midstream when they have been exclusively that persona the majority of their life. Two and two equals four not six. Let the truth prevail the Great Creator sees all and he sure does not ugly.

In the book, there is SO MUCH SHIPPERY. Honestly, the preoccupation Alice has with the Hatter is absolutely adorable. And it describes his eyes (HIS FREAKING EYES) in this scene when he says "You could stay" as being "Warm and full of promise."

I was pissed about that too. Like I was watching the movie and I was like, “any minute now” and then when it didn’t come I was like, “WHY?! WHY DID THEY NOT KISS?! THIS RUINED MY WINTER HOLIDAY!!!!” I was legit pissed.
I don't think romance would work for them because of the big age difference. But I wished they had a kiss in the cheek or the forehead as friends. That would have been adorable

The last scene of saying goodbyes between the Hatter and Alice from the two movies makes me cry all the time 💕
In the script they did but Johnny Depp and Tim Burton took it out because they felt it was inappropriate. The also made the Mad Hatter look the way he did where in the original script he was described as dark haired and sexy. Even though I liked the original script a bit more there were parts of the movie I really loved, but I hate that Burton and Depp changed the script so much. Especially after seeing the interview of the women who wrote it, she actually read the book. Burton said he never did

At least I can have a little bit of satisfaction, when I read the original script of how things were supposed to be, before it was edited out, and if you read between the lines during the movie there,are still subtle hints throughout, but you have to be alert to see them.

Something that I like so much about this scene is how I know that Alice will come back to Underland. In the second movie, the goodbye scene between Alice and Hatter is so sad because we never got to know if Alice can go back to Underland. However, I believe and I want to believe that Alice can go there and back to this world whenever she wants.
"you won't remember me" was like johnny depp not like mad hatter and I like it, it added much more deepness and sadness into the story ...

I hate the age difference and the fact he knew her as a child, but good god they have such great chemistry.. I so, so wish they'd made it such that when Alice came to wonderland as a child, Mad Hatter was a kid too...that would make it less... creepier.

But - they didn’t. Instead, we got CGI weird-eye Hatter, who did a few things and was gone. Our generation of screen writers, film makers, and story tellers - let’s do better than this.
