I don't understand why this was bad. Kent state was up by 1 and the other team had enough time to get a good shot off. In the NBA, they always foul the other team if they have possession with a few seconds left.
Any good teammate is going to pick him up. You win together, and you lose together. He knows he messed up, he doesn’t need a coach or teammate to explain it to him. I’m sure he apologized in the locker room, and they all had his back.
This happened to my team my Senior year in HS. Junior starting guard fouls their best FT shooter on the road and up 1. It was worse than this because we were coming out of a timeout and at no time did we talk about fouling. Not only that, the player who did the foul was an intelligent guy, ended up working for Rolls-Royce (turbine engines) after graduating college. It not only lost us a game, but we got crappy seeding because of the L, had to play the same team again in the tourney, and then got screwed over on the last play of the game as the refs decided traveling wasnt a call they could make on the last play of the game, even though he clearly did. Our Coach didnt help, had the wrong big man in, had the scorer and not the defender/rebounder. I feel for this kid and the team, you never forget a mistake like that, as a Michigan fan Id tell ya to just ask Chris Webber, oh, thats right, he doesnt like to talk about it either.
This happened in an NCAA tournament game between Vanderbilt and Northwestern in 2017 - Vanderbilt had just scored to go up by 1 with something like 14 seconds remaining and they fouled on the inbounds, thinking they were down 1 instead of up 1. Just like here, the Northwestern player made both FT's to decide the game.

I’m not familiar with college bball rules but why do the players go for the rebound after the first free throw? Doesn’t he get 2 free throws or does he have to make the first in order to get a second free throw?
Called a 1 and 1 if later in the half due to number of team fouls, a player has to make 1st to get a 2nd. Unless it's a shooting foul, which is auto 2 shots.

That really sucks, I feel so bad for him. Everyone makes mistakes.
True. But in Championship Games their should be no mistakes. this one is a Brutal Mistake and kent st ends up eliminated :( . not only that this is all over the internet. it's gonna Haunt Him For Life. let this be a ultimate lesson to this poor guy and this time hope he pays attention to time and score.
Dont worry man. I tried talking to this girl when i was 16. I still cringe to this day.
If NC State had the best story of champ week, this just might be the worst.
And Long Beach State had the most awkward and second-best story.
I'd say at least tied with New Mexico
I don't understand why this was bad. Kent state was up by 1 and the other team had enough time to get a good shot off. In the NBA, they always foul the other team if they have possession with a few seconds left.
😂smh
Your teammates must be pissed, you single Handley ruined there dreams
Your english teacher must be pissed! You single handedly spelled "handedly" wrong!
@@thepokemonpowerhouse5562 Your punctuation teacher must be pissed! You forgot to put a hyphen between single and handedly!
@@thepokemonpowerhouse5562it’s called autocorrect. Calm down.
Any good teammate is going to pick him up. You win together, and you lose together. He knows he messed up, he doesn’t need a coach or teammate to explain it to him. I’m sure he apologized in the locker room, and they all had his back.
Don't assume, they still gotta play defense for the last 4.5 seconds. Remember these guys lost a five point lead to JMU in less than that
0:31-0:38 Damn that is one upset head coach!
He had a parlay 🤣🤣🤣
That last attempt was even more horrendous
Not the first time this has happened, and it won't be the last, unfortunately.
The people who had Kent State ML are sick
The title should read"tribble sinks 2 to win the game".
Damn I asked and you made the video lol. I feel bad for the kid. He is going to get so much hate because he made a mistake at the wrong time. We all screw up, his just was very, very poor timing.
Btw I changed my name over here on UA-cam if your confused lol.
People screw up, but this is beyond idiotic. He is going to rightfully get shit for this dumbass decision that nobody would’ve made
I’m not familiar with college bball rules but why do the players go for the rebound after the first free throw? Doesn’t he get 2 free throws or does he have to make the first in order to get a second free throw?
Called a 1 and 1 if later in the half due to number of team fouls, a player has to make 1st to get a 2nd. Unless it's a shooting foul, which is auto 2 shots.
Jr Smiths little cousin 😂
coach probably missed out on a large bonus for making the tournament
