    I got the opportunity about 22 years ago to see him in my local city, just Chris and his guitar. It was such a small venue that I literally was close enough to touch him and I took my son and his friend because I thought his voice was something one has to experience. It was a moment in my life that was so special and I have had an amazing life. His voice goes straight to your heart.

      Same here.
      As a kid in the 90's, Nirvana was everything to me. Soundgarden's Black Hole Sun was one of my favorite songs but their music didn't fully connect with me until I hit about 30. I still find myself in awe of his music, Chris was able to create these beautiful yet dark tapestries in your mind with his melodies and lyrics that evoke such powerful emotions that have actually brought me to tears; I consider myself so very lucky to have been born in a time when Chris Cornell's voice existed.
      I still have a mixture of sadness and gratitude when I listen to his music.

      @Laniakea " If the pain subsides in death, I wouldn’t want help to keep living."
      I hear what you're saying, but there cannot possibly be less pain in death. Pain is emotional and/or physical, to feel relief is another feeling. In other words, you have to be alive to feel it. People typically fall back on "You cannot prove otherwise, therefore it is true."

    • @haidengeary8277
      @haidengeary8277 3 роки тому

      @@gazzarafalemozzy4766 He absolutely did need help, we all need help. Its very obvious not only from his music, but by exactly what he is saying in these interviews. When he speaks of children being without concern about what concerns adults implies he longed for innocence of not caring about the struggles of life. We all feel that way at some point, but part of life, which makes it worth living, is the struggle. Theres not a single person on this planet, with a deep thought in their mind, that did not come to those thoughts without some personal struggle.
      The way I see it, death is absolutely essential for life to have meaning. Our species gets bored very easily, which is both a blessing and a curse.

    From the 1st interview, you have to wonder what kind of a mood he was in to be so open. He must have felt so conflicted about being famous himself. It's not surprising that he couldn't feel comfortable in this world, people like him never do - they transcend the world that we're in. It's a loss for all of us left behind.

    In the first interview, he gives one of the most coherent & thoughtful answers to a question that i've ever heard. A glimpse, i suppose, into the powerfully poetic, deeply perceptive mind that was capable of creating such a wonderful body of work. Chris Cornell has given so much more to the world than it could have given back. I believe he is one of the rare people whose influence on our civilization will remain relevant & appreciated for many years. Assuming of course that we, as a species, manage to learn how to stop taking more from the world than our civilization can endure. We can't wipe out life or permanently destroy the Earth's ecosystem, but we certainly are capable of removing ourselves from the equation.

    What was great about Chris, apart from his obvious talent, was that he was so unpretentious and actually enjoyed expressing his thoughts and beliefs in interviews with media people who were very often quite thick. In many interviews, you can hear and feel his down to earth sincerity. I think that trait alone encompasses a type of spirituality. It's just a terrible shame that he did what he did, and perhaps in some sad way, he was not aware of how valuable he really was. I think the music business and the medications really overwhelmed him to the point of no return. A wonderful man, and a great singer songwriter.

I believe he did because he didn't seem like a man who would do something like that just because of his wife! Everything he did was his choice and thought out and I think he chose God! I dont think I've ever heard him deny God in any interviews! You are right, he is finally safe!

      There is no afterlife. Only thing that exists is the here and now. As far as what actually "exists" outside of this realm, is nothing more than a debate, a conversation of all the possibilities that exist or is present outside of the physical realm. What exists in the unknown is nothing more than our own imagination or interpretations based from our beliefs, values and morals of that "existence". The unknown is simply just that. It's unknown.

    • @r-erin2go380
      @r-erin2go380 6 років тому +15

      Shakir Henderson You contradicted yourself. You start with there is no afterlife and end with the unknown is just that it's unknown!
      You see, it can't be disproved so you can't say there is no afterlife. Have you died and come back here? Most likely not from your comment, so you don't know what happens after we leave this body! To me, personally, I believe there is something after because it makes absolutely no sense to be plunked here on this earth for 60 70 80 years and then nothing! Jokes on all of us if that is the case! Why do some live richly while others don't even have clean water? I mean really what is the point of being here? Makes absolutely no sense what so ever! My choice is to believe there is an after and have a faith, and let's say I'm wrong, well at least I believed and had faith in something after better than this place!

    The contrast in his voice and energy in these two interviews.
    But it's fascinating finding out his views are secular (as are mine). Without ever knowing this is where he stood on these issues, this artist who so inspired and inspires me saw such things in a similar way is kind of nice.
    In a world where most people still have beliefs in the supernatural, there's comfort in finding other people who prefer to take life as it comes and not live in fear or guess what may happen next - especially when you already feel a connection to that person!

    3:52 I've heard it all before. I grew-up with Chris Cornell in West Seattle, and he taught me to sing & write songs & we spent alot of time together. I love him with all my heart, but when he says... "When we die there's nothing left, no memories..." He's assuming & preaching it like it's truth. But he didn't know that, nor does anyone. AND... It's this kind of philosophy that treats life like it's nothing & makes it even easier to end it. [I have the right to say it, because I knew & loved him.]

    I personally belief in life after death, heaven, hell, etc. but I really appreciate his perspective on the here and now and how we shouldn't lose focus on how miraculous this dimension of experience really is. Excellent point and often overlooked especially when the now is perceived as something either to be endured, overcome, etc., to get to the "next thing". Be miraculous today.
