i swear wycliffe’s solo hits the right spot then three seconds later it gets even better and even better 😅
I love Wycliffe! I saw him play recently and got the chance to meet him. He is such a nice and wholesome guy behind the stankage.
I went to sjw jazz camp over the summer and he was one of the instructors there.
wycliffe is literally the best
@@gyorgycziffra7762 arts in the heart? I was there. Got a picture with him, my dad met him and played with him. he also came to my school, along with the Canadian brass. Also I'm doing music conservatory with him.
@@gyorgycziffra7762 hi
This man somehow fits in clean and dirty in the same solo

As a trombone player, this is the most impressed I’ve ever been. Not a lot of solos catch me, but that was beautiful.
also a trombonist, and Wycliffe understands the horn better than I could ever hope to
This is impressive, but i was more impressed by this high school player William Bilal ua-cam.com/video/yD0j1r_RqCw/v-deo.html
Also a trombone player but beginner and this is amazing I want to play like that
Trombone shorty- St. James Infirmary performance at the White House.
Amazing trombone solo
Sorry but this cat still doesn’t come anywhere near the trinity of bones players. Carl Fontana, Frank Rossilino, Carl Fontana
I can barely hit any higher than a high G on my trombone and this dude is hitting the whole alphabet 💀 W Trombonist.
Practice your B flat scale an octave up and don't be afraid to use more air. I struggle with range a lot myself.
I can play a little higher on my trombone
play trumpet, I started as a trumpeter, and it is really easy to hit most of the notes he is hitting
My teacher always assigns me with 1st trombone so I'm actually bad at playing low notes.😅
UHH… I am the same but the problem is… I PLAY TRUMPET- 😭😭😭
This man carries more soul than Charon on the River Styx.
Lol
I understood this reference
good joke
Comedy
Got more soul than a sock with a hole
0:14 to 0:20 just sounds so soulful and real.
Ye
Nope
@@brylestephenreyes9622 Perhaps.
Yessss
no, 0:00 - 1:00 is soulful and real.
When you've got _soul_ like that, you can make any instrument get your message across.
What a solo!
YOU’RE ALWAYS SO EARLY
@@GeorgeCollier That's what she said :(
Maracas enter the chat: its a stretch but yeah.
Even a triangle.
It's a SOUL-O haha funny laugh
No?
Oh ok my bad
Sorry it's like 11 at night I should really go to bed
Bye fellow band nerds
that one fly in the corner of my room:
Lol XD
As a trombonist, thank you so much for finally transcribing our solos in bass clef! We love the ledger lines!
I don’t get why you would write this in bass clef. Barely any notes are even on the regular lines.
@@yogxoth1959 cause most trombonists can’t be wanked to learn treble clef
@@yogxoth1959 because trombonists (including myself) hate treble clef, as treble clef instruments hate bass clef, and no one likes alto clef
@@elementalofdark5555 I mean I’ve only been playing trombone for about 9 months, and I’m going through the AMEB program*, and I’m currently working on grade 7 Trombone, which requires alto clef. I personally think it’s a useful tool to learn, and if learned correctly, is very helpful and not annoying at all.
*AMEB - Australian Music Examination Board, which is my form of music exams as a grade 10 (15 year old) Australian student.
unless you’re a classical trombonist, then tenor clefs all the way

Dead 😂😂😂
Didn't cry, but it game me goosebumps. Absolutely BEAUTIFUL.
Yep
the title just confused me and gave me a bad feeling before even watching the video. :/
as someone who is only a casual fan of jazz and classical, i really love these bite size and enjoyable clips of just beautiful playing. every once in a while i'll find something that i REALLY love then look more into it. all from these digestible vids. thanks so much for your work!
hey
As a trombone intermediate player still in school, I am very impressed and on the verge of crying. That was so beautiful
A good musician gets all the right notes, uses the right dynamics, plays in time, ect. A great musician pours their heart and soul into every piece they play.
I don’t know why I was recommended this but I’m glad I did, this is beautiful
Wycliffe is just so damn good, even as a trombone player it's hard to fathom how he really does this.
Also a great guy, he did a show at the Orpheum one night and then traveled across the Twin Cities to play a couple songs with Trombone Shorty at the Palace theater, man that was a damn good concert.
Aww man. I'm in the twin cities which I wouldve known
@@bretfine688 I think this was back in 2017, was an absolutely phenomenal show. I've seen Shorty a few times around the Twin Cities - highly recommend it!
I would have killed to see that concert
0:14 i felt that bro
I didn't cry or anything but I can tell he put a lot of emotion into that
That pesky mosquito flying around your ear:
😂
if the mosquito make noises like this i dont mind
As a trumpet player. I’ve been stunned 😳. That’s impressive 👏
also as a trumpet playerr. I’ve been stunned 😳. That’s impressive 👏
To give you perspective that high note is Equivalent to our G above high C
Which high c are you talking about? The one above the clef?
@@2005cms he talking About a Grand C. Anything above that is super C and above that is super super (Jesus notes) and it take a while to get there . Highest I’ve been on a 14c Yamaha trumpet was F because of air restriction. I changed to a E flat trumpet and I was in the super range. 12 years playing also.
As a trumpet player too. I've been stunned😳. That's impressive👏
0:27 I feel legend..
For perspective, I played trombone for 8 years and I am not sure I'd even be able to play a 4 or 5 ledger line note.. (I usually never really had to play higher than high b flat) maybe as a little squeak but this guy absolutely owns them, amazing.
This genuinely made me shed a tear in each eye, and the only brass instrument I've ever played was la trompeta. Truly magnificent.
so you have 124 eyes?
My jazz band got to play with him this past summer and it he was really cool to talk to
NICE
im not crying. i want a refund
I'm not crying but this is still stunning!!!! Had to listen more than once!!!❤️❤️❤️
Shout out to the band for accompanying him so well
0:44 is INSANE
When I read the title I immediately started crying
Holy crap that was absolutely amazing, the craziest bone solo I’ve ever seen for sure
I've never played this kind of instruments, but i really love them, that's enough to make a grow man cry
Aha you have discovered my favorite trombonist, the only soul who can pull off the sound of a singing elephant, musically.
When I accomplish the greatest feat of my life, this will be playing in the background as the crowd cheers and the confetti falls 😂
Truly cannot watch this without crying. I heard the first 0.003452384 millisecond of a millisecond of the music and all of a sudden was curled up in the fetal position, sobbing and drooling on the floor so much that it actually flooded both my house and my dog's house. Now I can't eat that ice-cream my friends said they'd buy for me because I'm currently floating straight into a drain pipe. Truly beautiful and tear jerking piece.
How the actual hell… as a Tuba player I am impressed, amused, and terrified all in one.
I know, right
I didn't cry but this is dam impressive.
0:42 "HOLY MOTHER OF F&%€"
Yup, that's a way to describe that section
He made that trombone sound like a trumpet wow 👌
I feel physical pain watching this guy tearing up his cheeks and lungs. Great job
You can just feel exactly what he wants to get across in every note. Wonderful
Wycliffe just played as the featured soloist for our rival university and I could never be more jealous that that wasn't us.
This makes me want to pick up my trombone
I dont think ive ever heard a trombone this emotional. Damn
0:36 As someone who doesn't play trombone, the sign on the sheet music gave me flashbacks.
I’m not crying, but he good.
OK, can someone get Wycliffe and Doreen Ketchens to perform together?
This gets better the more I hear it.
Watching the full performance of this, I just am so in awe of this absolute wonder, And after belting out several minutes of perfection, he just gives a very humble bow and gets right back in the orchestra. A true artist.
what is the name of the full performance?
@@quintonm06 look up Brass Band of battle creek. This performance is from a song called 'Me/We'
@@sawyerstudio tysm, that whole performance just hit me in the feels
Definitely got the chills all over with that one.
I am an old sax player, just subscribed to your channel a few days ago. I wanted to say thanks for your work. It is really nice, and the musicians are top notch.
Idk how but listening to this actually made me smile. Like I felt genuine happiness out of nowhere just from listening to this
I play trombone and I can say personally…that was AMAZING
I almost cried, but survived. I fucking love this.
I just honestly can't understand how this video doesn't have more views. I am awestruck at just how much soul this dude puts into this piece; it gives me chills. I've been listening to this over and over just because it's so good!
instructions unspecified. i started crying waterfalls
didnt cry ez
Every instrument can be great when it's in the right hands
I would’ve run out of breath after the first few a flats. I don’t wanna imagine what he went through lmao
He was SPECTACULAR though! I want to be like him one day!
Me: Sounds amazing, but I really don't like the clickbait title.
Me (20 seconds later): I'm crying tears of pure happiness
his lips must be BURNING
Ngl, I actually broke out some tears man.
As a saxophone player if one of my trombone friends wtarted playing this i wouldve just watched in amazment
I got shivers down my spine listening too this it’s so good
really feels like the sound is alive like a person, incredible
Really impressive one, honestly I ain't crying
My family was sleeping, but I couldn’t resist and screamed hallelujah at the top of my lungs
Amen
Buddy went all in
I could feel his pure energy
i can't stop watching this video
What a treasure chest your channel is! So happy it appeared in my feed (--> new subscriber here).
Extremely impressive, massive respect to this man. Huge talent
Trombones have so much potential as an instrument, and he shows it
As a former trombone player, I feel this in my lungs.
A few more trombone-centered tracks to enjoy:
Count Basie, Blues in Hoss Flat
Buddy Rich, Basically Blues (a tribute to Basie)
Buddy Rich, Meaning of the Blues (trombone melody and trombone solo)
This is perfection 👌👍
As a fellow low bras player (baritone) we don't get many solos at our school so this is really great to see and hear.
Myth busted.
watching this without crying is like cooking minute rice in 59 seconds
bro used all his strenght to play that music
The music will take your soul out of your body, have you traverse through the universe to just put you back to your body.
That was the best sweet stankage I’ve ever heard.
I watched this without crying
i literally got goosebumps mannnn
As a trombone player, whenever I watch this, I said, “ what in the god honest fuck. How? How does this man get that high- even the music is confused what”
That one anoying fly:
as a beginner trombone i see this as hell.
as a high school trombonist, can confirm that "holy mother of fuck" is not only a good way to describe those notes, but this entire segment.
Trombone Champ made me appriciate this way more
Listening to this gave me a tromboner
I guess I’ve never paid much attention to trombones - so, is he doing that holy sh*t playing mostly through embouchure and breath?
I mean, I know the slide is doing its thing, too
im holding back tears, this video is so powerful
……nvm I just cried
"Heh, I didn't cry. I paused the video before the tears came out of my eye-"
the stank levels cannot be matched by any mortal
This was close to making me cry tbh it didn’t but close. Last I cried to a new jazz experience was a miles davis song but bravo this is a masterpiece
GOOD!!! GREAT!!! AWESOME!!! OUTSTANDING!!! AMAZING!!!
This guy is hitting notes that are difficult to hit with a trumpet...on a trombone
This man KILLED IT!
Unreal.
And yes, I play trombone too.
I first watched this when I was tired, so I didn't really cry. I just felt even more tired.
As a sophomore trombone player I gotta memorize that sheet music and somehow defy the laws of physics and play it like he just did(it ain't happening for a while)
I remember practicing with my music teacher for half an hour to be able to hit those really high F's and afterwords feeling dizzy beacuse of the amount of effort, so to see him hit it with ease is amazing.
