Hollis, I usually watch my UA-cam channels on my tv and I can "like" with my remote but cannot comment. I had to switch over to my computer so I could comment. YOU are a genius when it comes to building for a garden. Thank you because I am planning my garden and your designs are making me drool! Please keep it up.
Me too I hate that, needs to be way to comment on your TV.
Same here! And now I’m finding myself getting way too carried away. Lol last year I grew hot peppers and now this year I’m growing everything. 😬😵😅
I’m so glad to see you. I’ve missed you and dear Nancy. ♥️ You are a hard working man.
I didn’t notice there was another build released! Love these builds. I’mma make two of these for my side area. 😊👌🏾 Easy to understand and follow. Thank you for your guidance👩🏾🌾
Hollis you are Bad to Bones. I wish you and your wife could come to Michigan . Wow! unbelievable how awesome you are.
another thumbs up!!! Oh my goodness what wonderful work and ideas. This is my way of TWO thumbs up! Hugs!!
"You don't never know"!...words to live by. You surely are a man for all seasons. Thanks for all you offer us. I shake my head in wonderment. xoxoxo from OHio
My...my....you work fast!😳 love the music!🤗 can’t wait to see your next project
! Great work my friends! 👍🌻just waiting on that snow to go away than I’m on it! 😘
Lots more coming. The garden complex is massive
I'm glad you are still doing container gardens. I'm not handy at building the grow tables like you are but I would love to be able to try using your plans. Thank you for your videos.
Love watching your videos. For those of us who don't have a lot of land or no land, can you please make a video on how to start a container garden on a patio or porch? May God continue to bless you all. Thank you.
Mr. Hollis; You have a cart with a small dump or compartment with a tailgate...I would use it for those tasks that will keep you off your knees using the tailgate for your bench. Just a suggestion.
Thank you for these videos watching you put these together makes it easier for me to be working by myself can’t thank you enough
Hi Hollis I used pallets for the bottom and beds as trellis, it do the job but yours are professional and strong made, just waiting to see how you manage for the wind and the buckets. Blessings
Man....I could talk shop with you all day.
Great video
Planted my potatoes today, your method is my method. Yukon gold and kennebec whites, I cant wait to see my results.
You
That trellis would be great to grow some winter peas on. Great video as usual
What a great video and channel in times like this God bless you both 🙏.
Love your build videos. Garden Answer had a video of obelisks for the garden. Can you maybe do a DYI version? There's are bought. Can't afford those but they are pretty.
Yes, their's were very expensive.
Two videos in one day. You're spoiling us!
Remember he told us a week or so back we will get more videos. Im sure glad. And verbal instructions to boot...…….lol
It's a "WOGO",,,,,,, Watch One Get One FREE!!!!
Brilliant , love it.
Those are the 2 I was hoping for, as they are what I need.
Thanks as always for sharing.
Mark
You sure picked the right music to go with this project. Looking good.
Awesome.
I love it it’s going to hold the weight very well I can’t even put heavier buckets on there
Great job as always! I’m excited for you and Nancy and I’m looking forward to seeing how you develop your garden areas!!
Your my all time favorite garden show! I love you guys!
God bless you❤️
I built a work table a couple of weeks ago; very close to your potting and grow tables. I like to over build things so they last. Your tables should last for years. Great job
This I am going to build..Thank You
Please post some pix on our Facebook page when you’re finished. Would love to see❤️
You are so great! Love from Chile South America 💚
Wonderful idea. We don't have much room at all, but this will be a perfect solution for us. We are a little south of you, in Brevard. I've lived in Georgia, Louisiana, Northern VA, and Southern CA...and I find that it sure is hard to beat the weather here in our Florida dry season in February/March. We've been blessed with wonderful weather for all your outside building work recently!
Very fun to be a part of! Thank you!
The hardest working family on UA-cam!
Nice size buckets, they're plenty deep. I would just put 2 inches of gravel in the bottom and put them on anything. But, I gotta admit those tables with the trellises are real nice.
Always enjoy y’all’s video’s, makes me want to plant some food! Yum 😋
A great days work , well done Hollis .
Love BingBing & hugs to him too!!!!
❤️🐶❤️
I used large tots for potatoes last year. Worked great 👍 I am going to get some of those 20 gallon buckets like you have this year. Loved your video ❤️😃🐕🐾
I have enjoyed all your videos and have learned quite a bit. Instead of building these for my potato containers, I'm going to use pallets and will add a t-post for support when needed.
Great Job Hollis!
Thank you! You guys are so clever. I am in process of creating a garden in my new backyard and this will be part of my design. I am a big fan of working smarter not harder.
Great videos!! My wife and I love following along where did you guys go in Florida? We are in Georgia
Progress.....can't wait for more seed to harvest from your new homestead.....PTL
you two are amazing and lovely people! i love your videos and easy teaching ways. although -- I have to hire this out. i am in awe of your talents and gifts!
Great set of vids. I love your tutorials; very thorough.
you are such a inspiration. thank you so much for sharing your skills and experience.. God bless you
i love you guys videos im doing potato's in containers as well. my first time. having trouble with my tomato starts i did it from seed this year.
i see you guys are in Florida . i live near Jacksonville where you guys close to god bless
Amazing designs
Greeting from Saudi Arabia
Will be adding this to my honeydo list. Thanks for sharing.
Best of luck to you with your taters! Post a photo on our Facebook page when you finish the build 👍
Great job as always thank you for sharing 😊
Good workmanship
Just wanted to say thank you both so much for blessing us with the wisdom that you worked so hard to gain.
My family and I are just getting into gardening and will be using containers to get our feet wet. Your videos have really given me the understanding and confidence to get after it. Stay rooted in Christ Jesus, the "fruit" looks good brother and sister.
"Now he that ministereth seed to the sower both minister bread for your food, and multiply your seed sown, and increase the fruits of your righteousness;)"
2Corinthians 9:10
Btw if you don't mind me asking how much do you think it cost to build one of these?
Love the stuff but I am still worried about rain. Florida has a good rainfall of 50 inches. Lets see how they work out..
Do you have a video on how to build the tomato cage also? Thanks and
God bless y'all!
Hi can I suggest that you use wood chips for your animals flooring as it is free and it absorbs the smell soooo much better than sawdust or straw. Blessings to you both ps I am in the UK in North Wales
I just started watching your videos and subscribed to your channel a couple days ago. I was about to start growing potatoes in a 5-gallon bucket until I saw this video. How many seed potatoes do you put in the 20 gallon container? Also, I noticed in an earlier video you were wearing what looked like a fire department shirt. I was a firefighter for 20 years and also have an Asian wife; small world. I also thought of putting the panel on the back of the table to grow cucumbers. Glad you added that. Thanks for making all the videos, I am learning a lot.
James
Yep, retired Fire Chaplain. Here is a link to the 20 gallon tubs. I think you will like this series ua-cam.com/video/dovbTDDKaWc/v-deo.html
Mr. Hollis, always enjoy your videos, being from Florida, the only thing concerning with the design is to be aware of snakes hiding under that low deck. 💪🇺🇸💪 You don’t never know. 👍 be safe.
We have rattle snakes was wondering about that
another question: the front 4x4..is the total height 8 inches which would be 2 inches up from the bottom of the attached 2x6? Thank you
Those turned out really nice. Great idea to add the wire for future plants. Do you think the green colored plastic snow fencing would work instead of the wire? I ask because it would be easier for me to work with.
Give it a try 👍
Thank you for new video, but I have a question, Is possible I use a tomato cage for the potatoes ? I have few on hand.
Where did you get your buckets from, do they have drainage holes? I'm starting some raised beds this year for the first time. Thanks.
Lowes. I had to drill the drain holes myself
Another awesome helping vid thank you
Hollis I have your plans here and am confused about your 5/4 x 5 1/2 deck boards. I get that it will plane down to 1 inch but did you use 5 1/2 wide boards (6 inch) or will 2x4 work? Just trying to cut costs a bit...heading out to purchase lumber this week :)
I love it
Enjoyed your video ! 💝
Great!! 💕👵
If I raise this up off the ground about 12 inches, would it hold the 20 gallon potato buckets? I'm thinking about the flooding that is coming. So would want to build these off the ground also! Thanks so much for sharing all of your knowledge and Yahweh's love with us all! Shabbat Shalom Hollis, Nancy and Bing Bing!
Raising it up is fine
@@HollisNancysHomestead Very good! Thank you and God Bless!
Do you use food grade containers?
Yes
instead of strapping them up, would you build frames that you could add - even rings of barrels that you could add on top and fill with soil as the leaves and stems grow.
I love the music in the intro! What's the name of the song?
great video ima try this for tomatoes too
What was your lumber budget when you moved? Have you exceed it yet?
LOL. We exceeded the budget several months ago. We are just trying to get finished. Depending totally on sponsorships and donations now👍
JussRight
Lessss Get Started
Have a Blessed Day
Also would you explain the DK BDS with the question I asked earlier.. Thanks!
Dk Bds= deck boards
@@HollisNancysHomestead Cool!! Thanks again..
The plans call for 4- 4x4x8” should this be only 2 for front legs cause back two are 48”?
One more question please, I didn't used PT lumber because we're in the north west part of the United States, Montana where our humidity is mostly low, average 25%...
Does your tables sit in snow? I recommend PT Lumber for anything outdoors
Thank you
Another great design. Would you suggest mulching underneath if I am placing it over the grass?
Yes
And a new one
You Don’t Never Know
Hi, where can I get those blue containers. Thank you.
Love ❤️
I have seen them at Lowes
Starting a container garden in zone 10a. Yard soil is sand. What zone are you in? Love your designs and videos!! Thank You

How long do your potatoes keep once dug up & how do you store them? Thank you for showing how to, I intend to build at least one of them. I am enjoying watching you make your place. Most of the time I am watching you & Nancy from bed & am too lazy to get up & type a comment, forgive me for that because I have looked forward to your build for over a year!! Hugs to you both, Judie
I keep them in my Tater tower in our 4 week pantry. They will last several months
@@HollisNancysHomestead Do you do canning Nancy? Another lady on UA-cam "dry" cans potatoes. The finished product potato is like a baked potato, has a long shelf life & can be used for many things..ie. fried, mashed, potato salad, baked, all of course cooked. (more like warmed up because they are already cooked through the canning process. Hollis, I'm about to watch all your planting methods...I'm getting old now & need a refresher! Thanks hugs
@@HollisNancysHomestead Also I don't believe I have ever seen your 4 week pantry...if you have never shown it, would you please, if you have shown it before, please give me a link (if you can), or help me find it...thank you!!!!
Perfect, all base's covered. I noticed you left out the center bottom rail. Did you decide it is structurally strong enough without it?
Could you use, say, 36" small diameter bungee cords to put around the plants, or would they be too stretchy and not provide enough support. I found them online several places for about $1 each, and would be reusable for several years.
Last, for those who's budget doesn't allow for cattle panel (or similure wire), or just building 1 or 2 of those, just us a 1 x 3 across the back? Should that be strong enough?
Thanks again for sharing, and can't wait for what's next.
Mark
I like how you think Mark👍
great job Mr, Hollis . Enjoyed this video
Nice !
LOVE this idea, Mr. Hollis! But unless my math is wrong - Item #1 SHOULD show a quantity of (2) instead of (4)....as Item #6 has (2) 48" tall 4x4's. Please confirm with me. I watch your channel regularly. All the best to you and Miss Nancy!
Not just potatoes, a little 'higher' and it could be a 'trellis' for cucumbers or beans or melons, etc...
I have been watching a few of your videos over the last couple of days. Being a Florida girl myself, are you concerned with snakes getting under your container garden tables? It seems like a perfect place for them to go under warm up without baking in the sun. You are doing a beautiful job and I am really enjoying watching it come together.
We have lots of snakes. I am watchful in area that are prone for a snake to lay up. I guess we got used to them being around but always cautious
The snakes will help with rodents!
Love it!!
Dear Mr Hollis do you have any plans to build a bee hive as I would like some no nonsense plans that I could follow from beginning to end.May the Lord bless you and keep you and your family safe and well.
No plans for bees.
You built a similar table for sweet potatoes, but the back looked higher. Would you use this same table for the sweet potatoes?
Yes it can be used for sweet potatoes. I am growing some sweet potatoes now in 45 gallon containers. I’m just letting the vines cascade out of the containers down to the grow table. I will trim the vines to keep them contained to the grow table. We can eat the ends of the vines with the fresh flush of tender soft green leaves. They taste similar to Bok Choy or Spinach
Hi Hollis & Nancy1. How do I adjust the quantity of wood to build just 1 table, which is all I have space for in my back yard so I am not buying unnecessary wood. Thanks!
Tai Lilly The quantity given on the drawing is for one table.
Hollis, Cliff Holmes here, I don't know a lot about working with wood and I notice on your blue prints you have wood slats 5/4 x 5 1/2 .. What is the 5/4 mean on your prints, I've never heard of this before, please explain... Thank You!!!
Thickness is 5/4” (1-1/4”). 5-1/2” wide. Commonly referred to as 5/4 x 6 Deck Boards. Actual size = 1-1/4” thick x 5-1/2” wide
@@HollisNancysHomestead Thanks! I was a welder all my life, never worked with wood until I came across your sketches.. Loving it!!
👋😊
How many starter potatoes would you put into that container? Thank you!
5 or 6
Hollis & Nancy's Homestead thank you. I went and watched ALL of your potato videos and I saw where you planted in these containers. Thank you so much!!! God Bless.
Thank you Mary. Best of luck to you with your taters this year ❤️🥔❤️🥔❤️🥔
5 or six determinate potatoes, because the indeterminate potatoes continue to make potatoes continuously...
BLESSINGS
May I ask where you get your 20 gallon buckets?
Yes ma’am. I got these at LOWES years ago. However, the LOWES in my area no longer carries them. Now I buy my 3 gallon and 20 gallon containers from Zenhydro.com
@@HollisNancysHomestead Excellent, thank you!
i haven't seen any plans for storing previously used compost that was be used for pots..recycling compost from pots..like in Virginia..
I haven’t got there yet but I plan to.
New subscriber. How do you keep the critters from feasting on your produce?
Welcome to the family ❤️. We had to install a deee fence. Video coming
@@HollisNancysHomestead ... deeefence against critters. Got it ;-)
Deer 😂😂
I noticed on your sketch #1 you have (4) 4x4x8", shouldn't that be (2) 4x4x8" because the 4x4's in the back would be 4x4x48"? Just asking, not trying to upset you, I do love your prints
that you draw out for all the sketches..
Watch out for the heat this year, it’s hot already.
Hello Hollis and Nancy,I been following your channel for about 2 months now so I subscribed to your channel,,I really find your channel very helpful especially on growing in containers, the one I going to try this year is your potatoes in 20 gallon tubs,I bought 6 of the blue ones you have from Lowes,I do have a couple question for you my local Lowes does not carry Black Kow is there a substitute for Black Kow I can use? I can get the Peat Moss with no issue, but I did not catch what your 3rd item is you used , can you tell me what the product is please ,Also could you tell me since I have 6 20 gallon tubs how many bags of each products would I need?...Also can you tell me how often do you water your entire garden a day and is there certain times that watering should be done? I hope to hear back from you on what I need to know,Thanks and God Bless you both and stay safe out there...
Try to find any Cow Manure they have. Mix peat, cow manure and top soil
@@HollisNancysHomestead Thank You Hollis and Nancy,I can not wait to see how my garden will be this year especially to see how the potatoes grow in 20 gallon tubs..
Where did you find the 20 gal containers?
@UCAT0x4vUSX_YDIhfahWIv-g Thank you Sir, I will check it out .
