I just heard the news 😢 R.I.P Mrs. Potts. This song was the pinnacle of all of our childhoods. Thank you SO much for voicing our beloved teapot. Loved and missed every day 💜
An absolutely dreamy vocal performance by a 65yo woman! This movie came out the year my first child was born. I was 24 years old and already a fan of Angela Lansbury, but this movie solidified my devotion. Her rendition of this tender melody was perfect. Her portrayal of Mrs. Potts was adorable. I'll never tired of this version. Thanks for the walk down memory lane tonight. :)
People try to debase this movie, saying it's about Stockholm syndrome, but it most definitely is not. Belle is ostracized by the whole town because she enjoys reading and daydreaming while the beast is ostracized because of his monstrous looks. This movie isn't about Stockholm Syndrome, it's about two lonely souls who find comfort with each other and find someone they can truly love.
***** Actually she wasn't kidnapped she went there on her own in order to save her father. I love that movie and it is so pathetic to misunderstand the meanings of that wonderful movie. The beast wasn't a criminal or some psycho who kidnapped Belle in order to torture her. He wanted to solve the curse and make things better for his survants.
Yup. Preach XD and to those who say belle was kidnapped. NO she wasn't. She chose to go to the beasts castle to save her father. And actually the beast is not a physco kidnapper, he was just a lonely soul, looking for love, and when he came across belle, he fell inlove with her, and he had never ever felt that way before, and he didn't want to loose belle. So in his mind he 'offered belle to stay' but actually came across as aggressive to belle. But when he grew into belles company, he was more relaxed, belle was more relaxed and because the beast was relaxed too, and knew how to make her feel special. She fell inlove with the beasts personality. Then there was gaston, he was the complete opposite of belle, snobby, ignorant, and yeah... But because of belles looks he loved her, though wasn't inlove with her personality. But belle didn't want a man who made fun of her father, only loved her for her looks, and who was ignorant. Gaston chased after belle. Even proposed to belle. But belle wasn't easy to please. The beast was everything belle wanted in the end. Kind when you get to know him. And he turned into a handsom man in the end!!!!! Because he proved he was more than a beast! TYSM FOR READING MY ESSAY LOL
This song was recorded on the first take Lansbury did right after she landed from a long plane ride. The actress that voiced Belle commented: “We were all worried she would be too exhausted, and then she comes out and sings ‘Beauty and the Beast’ in one take.” 🎼🥀 💕
Disney never been the same after switching to 3D movies, there was an old charm in the drawn movies that is simply gone now, not to mention the amazing songs they wrote back there... I miss the old disney movies.
Medusa Gorgon Eh I didn't care for Tangled. Frozen was much fresher, much more original. Far less predictable and didn't follow the same Disney cliches that Tangled did
"Barely even friends, then somebody bends." "Both a little scared; neither one prepared." I'm dying xD Seriously though, this is a truly lovely song and I love it.
I hadn't seen this since I was a toddler (or older) and now that I've watched it again it makes so much more sense and it so much more beautiful. And in my opinion, the older movies are way better than the ones we have now days. :)
Angela Lansbury brought so much joy, delight, and spirit into her role in Beauty and the Beast and the title song she sang brought so much warmth and comfort to so many people. It was an incredible experience that I got a chance to hear her for the first time long ago when I was a one year old toddler. And that film, Beauty and the Beast, became my most favorite one of all. Though she’s no longer with us now, her warm dedication in making people smile with her incredible career will be remembered for a very long time.
hearing this song makes me so happy and sad at the same time because This generation will really not understand the feeling of watching all of the old animated versions of these Disney movies
I mean, gen z in general knows it, but there are some kids I babysit for (roughly 10 years old, all of them) and they haven't seen anything earlier than Frozen, so you're not exactly wrong
Listening to this brings tears into my eyes reminiscing about how things were wonderful back then in the 90s. Things need to get back right. Right where children can actually go out and have a childhood.
Angela Lansbury's Voice Brings out the magic of this song. i remember still with my little sister watching this. just to here her sing. Disney Captures a magic moment with a great voice .
This song and movie will always hold a space in my heart. I miss The classic old Disney movies. Today it's all about 3D and all of that, but the original movies will always be better than any remake and all of that.
Angela Lansbury recorded this song in one take!! I didn't see Beauty and the Beast in the theaters because I was still obsessed with The Little Mermaid. I thought there was no way a movie could be better than The Little Mermaid. Over the years, I have come to love this movie just as much. It is difficult to explain to kids now, how magical growing up in the 80s and 90s was. We got the best of both worlds. Disney reissued many classics in the theaters and we also got to see the movies that would become part of the Disney Renaissance.
In my opinion, no version will ever be as good as the original Angela Lansbury. She is just so amazing and it's weird for me to hear other people sing this song.
This song still chokes me up .I've always been the Beast,Even growing up i'd watch this by myself and think of a love so great you could look past my shy ,nature.there is so much more to me than just my cold stare.......where are you belle.
R.I.P. Katie, lost my classmate/friend yesterday..21 too young. I remember how much you loved the Beauty and the Beast just as much as I did, now when I listen to this song, I'll be thinking of you sweetheart👼❤️💔😔🙏❤️💕
I love how everyone wants this playing at a special time for them, but the song's suggesting one of the two people you're sharing the moment with is a beast.
Lotus, you do know that the song is actually about looking past someone's exterior and looking at the true beauty within to find pure happiness. They want it playing at special times because of what it means to them, not by others.
I came here after the death of Angela Lansbury, the voice of Mrs. Potts (1925 - 2022). At least now Mrs. Potts is reunited with her old friends, Lumiere (Jerry Orbach) and Cogsworth (David Odgen Stiers).
beauty and the beast has always been my favorite disney movie, just listening to this song gives me a feeling of familiarity and beauty. I love it and always will:)
I'm listening to this song after learning of Angela Lansbury's death. Hearing her beautiful voice singing this lovely song brings tears to my eyes now that she's gone. Goodbye, Miss Lansbury, and thank you for the many years of entertainment; you will be deeply missed. Farewell... 💔
She wasn't there with the Beast because she actively chose to on her own free will for sure. But since when do we always have a choice in what we do? Isn't it the circumstances sometime that decide for us? And we make what we can out of what we have. Belle and the Beast both did. They found how to love and cooperate against all their odds.
The music from films like this are so good, no, UNEXPLAINABLY awe-some (I use Awesome not in the term of "AWESOME!" but in the term that this is Awe some. Get it?) and always seem to be catchy. Even of in the movies they always live happily-ever-after and never are brave enough to kill off a main protagonist without either a long speech or a way of bringing him back, these are still some of the best songs composed, sung, and covered. Who agrees?
Grew up LOVING Beauty and the Beast as a child that used to enjoy reading a lot, Belle was relatable at that age. But I always absolutely loved this song, favorite line is "Certain as the sun, rising in the east" found it oddly inspiring even as a kid.
I remember being little and wishing this song would describe my relationship with someone when I got older. Funny to see that my wish came true since now the guy I like likes me back and we were both scared to be together because we were friends for a long time. I love this song and I bet I always will.
I have a childhood friends who's sister had a wedding which I went to. I'd never been to a wedding before, and everything was so beautiful: the people, the place, the flowers, the setting sun... I was already a little touched, then A Whole New World started playing, and I got really emotional. It was followed right away by Beauty and the Beast, and when just the few first notes started sounding I actually had to bite my lips not to cry. Such a touching song, one of my Disney favorites.
RIP Angela Lansbury You were wonderful singing the icon song Tale as Old as Time, you will always be remembered in this movie and Bedknobs and Broomsticks.😢💔
i love this movie such a classic you will never grow to old for this movie when you look back no matter how old or young Disney comes up with the best movies ever about family and love u cant beat it. beauty and the beast, sword and the stone, beauty and the beast, toy story, swan and princess you get it classics just to say Disney shows how there music is just all around good music LOVE ITTTT
During my younger years, I love my girlfriend so much. I wanted to dance a lot of songs with her, but not as bad as this one. So when I heard her parents were leaving for a couple of hours, I knew I had my chance. I put a movie for her brothers and sister to watch and I was able to get her alone in the living room. I connected my phone to TV, closed the curtains, and I was able to put this music on. She did not know what to do or how to dance. So I lead her an she followed, it felt like a long time but I know it was quick. At the end I kissed her and we stayed hugging, we didn't say a word. The best Disney moment I ever had.

Is this a tribute act or what
That's what my parents said to me: "Off to the cupboard now. It's past your bedtime."
😂
Lol to cute 🥰😂

The fact that Angela Lansbury did this song in one take is absolutely astonishing!
It really is.

Yes, May she rest in peace.

me too.
To be fair, "Frozen" is the only modern Disney film that can compare to the classics. If you haven't seen it then you should
Not to mention every song they make now a days is autotuned as fuck.. It's so horrible compared to this.. sigh..
Darion1A Tangled is much better than Frozen.

❤
Goodbye Angela Lansbury, thank you for making our childhood great and may you sing with the angels in heaven.
