    You can try to go for pon when growing alocasias, I have all of mine alocasias(arround 50) in pon and even the variegated are doing amazing. You have to clean the pon very very good before, just so you don't get any of the sand parts into your jar/container. Also pon is amazing for thai con and musa ae ae. If you have any questions please ask freely...

    Love plant chores. I'm with you on the spider plants they're totally underrated. Never got the hype of adansonii until I saw how they can size up on a pole SPG style. Now obsessed. That 'spider mite detected' face. I felt that in my soul. 🤣Hope your finger heals up quick Pete those pots can be vicious. My personal nemesis is the foil seal in milo tins. The peperomia pups are so stinkin cute, hope the Zabrina does well for you. I'm struggling to keep one leaf on my platinum dragon I may change her over to semi hydro.... Inspired as usual thanks Pete.

    Loved seeing your little peperomia leaf cutting. I can only fit teeny peperomias in on my windowsills now and I love them.

    If you leave the spider plants where your kitty can get at them, there will be no plants to give as Christmas gifts. Cats mow them down within minutes. Apparently spiderplants have the same substance that's in catnip

      @petevsplants7516  Рік тому

      Oh no kidding? I'll have to look it up. Fortunately, I only have one inside and it's up high on a shelf haha

      Don't know about the catnip substance, but my cats eat it like they chew on certain types of grass. To vomit out furballs or to aid digestion, I guess. Totally harmless to them.

    Thanks for this, im new to Alocasia's and some of mine have rotted away quite quickly after purchase. I'm trying to rescue repotting with a heavier mix of perlite but i'll try your method next. My Zebrina's are holding up well so far though, but i'm just starting to see the leaves discolour a little. Winter here so that might not be helping.

    • @petevsplants7516
      @petevsplants7516  Рік тому

      No worries, mate :) Definitely try passive hydro if they start getting root rot. I've found it works great!

      Alocasias do very well with pon in semi hydro. Have all my fine rooted Alocasias in pon and my thick rooted orchids in Leca and semi hydro!

    I’ll be sure to get you my address. Be eagerly awaiting a Christmas card with a variegated Adi cutting sitting inside. 🎉
    My main Adasonii is just going wild. Gonna do a Sydney PG with moss pole and see if I can get Esqulleto sized leaves from it. New ones are 8”x6” now and getting bigger. My kids want what will be the bottom chop.
    Looking spectacular. Your inventory is definitely growing. Pun intended.
