- This video is not so much a review but a run through of the Eurohike Rydal 500 which is a budget family tent from GO Outdoors.
Currently retailing at £139 with GO Outdoors members discount (apparently RRP £480).
The tent itself is a sizeable and spacious 5 person tent which is even more spacious if its just the 2 of you on a week long break or long weekend HAPPY DAYS. It does come with a curtain divider for the bedroom which isnt in the video if you wanted a room for yourself and a room for your kids or more room for your gear.
Specs and Sizes in the video where you are prompted to pause if you wish to read them.
Used this tent in the summer last year in a storm and held up amazing, no leaks and wind gusts up to 55mph, amazing tent for the cost
Absolutely mate
Loads of reviews say leaky. But I want it.
Hi mate, we had rain the night we first used it and it held up well. I guess it all depends on the extent of the downpour and how old it is at the time of leakage but that can be said for all tents. We're up in Skye in a few weeks so my view may change haha.
Haha ill have to watch. Thanks.
a good tent. i bought it
Agreed 💯👍🏼
Hi, great video and can i ask which size the carpet you have bought and what groundsheet you used? Did you also have to buy any extra pegs or poles? Thanks
Hi, the carpet is specific for that tent it's a Eurohike Universal Tent Carpet Medium (220x280cm). No all pegs and poles are provided with the tent. Only thing you would have to buy separately is the porch door poles/ropes if you don't want it rolled up.
Did the footprint come with it too? Thanks for sharing the cideo
@@robrunzhi and thanks for watching. The footprint was purchased separately but was specific to that tent.
Recently bought a Eurohike Avon DXL 3 which is basically a 3-person version of what you have. Problem is, the sloping doorways. The front door slopes so much the rain pelts in when you unzip it. But worse still, the rain was coming in through the zip during the night as well, puddling on the ground sheet. Used it twice now, same problem. Just ordered the Adventure Tarp with the single pole which should fit across and in front of the tent to protect against this issue. My last tent had a completely vertical front, no water ingress to speak of. Poor design by Eurohike. I suppose the only real solution is to never go camping when it rains 😂😂
Haha yer have to confess that is a big design fault. You can buy poles separately for the doors but still leaves you with a big gap either side. Think we may go down the tarp solution next time as well. Never had an issue with our zips, on the Rydal they are covered over.
@@nickmc_outdoors yeah for sure, this could’ve been easily resolved with a little brim of some sort above the doorways (I have seen this on other tents) but I suppose at this price point perfection isn’t to be expected. The tarp is definitely a good solution though with the added benefit of a sitting out area as well. Note though, on my tent it renders the side door obsolete as the flap and guys are in the way. As regards the zip situation, you’re lucky as mine definitely isn’t fully covered; there’s just enough of a gap on the external zip cover and, bizarrely, it almost acts like a channel feeding the water down to the zip point.
