It was always great to party with Jeff while attending the Indy 500. We would hang out at John Mecom’s Suite in Turn 2. Always a nice, approachable person 🎸❤️
Sad to read that at least a few people have had bad experiences with Jeff. One would think a guy that put together so many gorgeous, melodic and soothing guitar solos would be a great sport. Great interview.
No less an authority than Artimus Pyle told me that basically, Carlisi is an egotistical asshole, born entitled, who no one liked. I believed Art. Having said that, Carlisi's an unbeatable guitar player.
My humble apologies. I tried it again and this time, there was sound. Very informative. Must have been a glitch in my stupid Iphone. Now there's a shock.
I think there was some kind of bad vibes between him and Don Barnes, the original lead singer. As I mentioned in a previous post, there was a point in the late 80's, where Don left the band and they got someone in to replace him. Then after a couple albums, Don came back, the replacement left, and so did Jeff. So I think tehre was some kind of difference of opinion or power struggle or something else that apparently caused Jeff and Don to, as Phillip Oakey might put it, "become unable to work together any longer".
Jeff and Don just could not get along , not uncommon in the work place, throw in the fact that their business put them both living on a tour bus together and it was a matter of time , happens in lots of bands.
A bit of a bummer hearing this story, only because in other interviews hes told the same story except he said that they or the cops were tryin to get the door open to show they just had band equipment, and when they couldnt bust the lock the cop said Ill just use my .38 Special. Slightly different then were gonna shoot ya with a .38 Special.🤦♂️🤷♂️ Just sayin!.
I think there was some kind of bad vibes between Jeff and Don Barnes. If you'll notice, there was a point where Don had left the band, and they made a couple albums with another guy as lead singer, then when Don came back, Jeff left.
I can tell you why jeff left cause the guys a jerk.I met him years ago and he's nothing like the other guys. Not a nice guy at all I hope her never comes back ,he may good at guitar but as a person hes not cool
I agree, I saw them in a nightclub/bar years ago in Tulsa and after the gig he was sitting at a table having a drink and talking to some chicks. They both got up from his table and came over to talk to me and a buddy. He got pissed and started throwing us dirty looks and we gave him some back. Carlisi the dickhead didn't have the balls to come over and start any shit.
Yep - a friend of mine years ago in the early-mid 80's went to a 38 Special meet and greet at a record store (remember those?) up in Massachusetts. He said Carlisi was a total douche, Barnes wasn't there that day and everyone else was cool. My friend tried to talk to Carlisi about his guitar and asked where Don Barnes was - got nothing but douchebag responses.
What a badass guitarist and what a great band probably one of the best bands that I have ever heard. Long live 38 Special.
Miss ya a lot Mr. Carlisi.
Jeff Carlisi is a tremendous friend and an amazing musician! Anyone who says differently should go look in the mirror!!!!

Jeff you were always one of my favorite guitarists. I remember trying to learn your solos when I started playing.
Jeff played the dobro part on four walls of raiford.
What a great and very funny story. That's one you could never get tired of telling over and over.
Jeff … you the best

What experiences?
@@fmbighair, just referring to UA-cam comments.
Wow never would have guessed its Jeff.
I clicked on this because I thought it might be about his life as a swinger with his wife "Gina."
Really?
@@fmbighair I mean, yes. Because of how it was worded, I mean.

My humble apologies. I tried it again and this time, there was sound. Very informative. Must have been a glitch in my stupid Iphone. Now there's a shock.
Does anyone know why Jeff left 38 special?I wish he would rejoin the band again one day

KOOL!
An interview with no sound. That's really informative.
@seattwa interesting - I get sound when I play it...
What year was this interview done?
They made the mistake of kicking him out..... biggest mistake they ever made....

I never knew that..I have to say that his songwriting is certainly missed if nothing else.

TERRY. He’s not a jerk, when I met him he was the nicest guy in the world and even gave me a gift
the cops thought that their badges and guns granted themselves extra rights. Pitiful.
