I’ve been using Husqvarna chainsaws for over 20 years, I bought my first Stihl, and it was a 180 C. What an awesome saw, I regret not buying a Stihl earlier.

I have a 211C which is a slightly bigger version of this saw and love the thing. Always starts and runs great. At 74 years old I find the easy start system to be a godsend. I mainly use it to cut logs to length and prepping them for my wood lathe. Excellent saws!

Good basic information for the MS180C owner. It's a great little saw. I never use the chain brake, though. Before I take a step, I take my right hand off the throttle trigger, so that if I stumble I don't accidently grab it and rev the saw. My older saws don't have chain brakes at all; they were developed mainly with weekend warriors in mind.
As I only use my saw in the fall, when the fire danger is zero, I removed the spark arrestor entirely. It required frequent cleaning, which was a pain. Now it's trouble-free, five or six years later.

Pretty good video. Learned something new. I have one. Very annoying to get started. I must try the gas. So far 89 octane E-0 and mix in the oil ⁵⁰/¹ did not run. So I bought the premix "trufuel" ... nope, no likee. Broke pull string.😡 I guess the stihl can gas is next. I swear I never had so much issue with a 4 month old saw. However watching this, i wasn't 3 tugs and open choke, so it likely my fault. Damn.

    Bought Stihl 180C since 2019.
And have cut over 75 tree that is 5 inches or larger .
It is really great saw to maintain 23 units of my rentals
Can’t believe how many trash Bradford Pear trees that we cut down .

EasyStart LOL! In the words of James Bond, "You must be joking".
Don't let it sit for more than a month, otherwise it'll need a mechanic before it'll start. You're better off with a Husq.

As a dealer/repair shop, I love the PPE selling op you took at the start. My PPE just sits there, and the same people that decline buying it, are the same one's who bring their saw back because "The blade just stopped turning mid cut, it's broken!" Meanwhile, I pop the chain brake off and it runs like new.

    • @darylm.9432

I used my Stihl MS 180 safely for ten years before I had a tiny lapse in concentration. Cut my leg open. Not too bad, but stitches required. I now have Stihl safety pants. They are not cheap but neither are legs.

Great video, I watched it for entertainment. I like the PPE part. I see so many wannabe-professionals without. I have witnessed multiple accidents myself, One guy split the front of his helmet and has now a scar on his eyebrow. Good he was wearing the PPE. One guy cut his upper leg.....that looked horrible because he didn't wear proper PPE. Another guy cut his toe by accident, again no PPE. tennis shoes aren't a good choice. All were experienced cutting trees in the woods, not the homeowner your video seems to be tailored to. I personally think 1min warm up time is A LOT assuming you're not running it at -20. The 180C is my smallest saw and I think the stock 16" bar mine came with and the stock chain is not the best choice. I'd use a 14" bar with .50 gauge yellow chain if it would be my only saw. The 12" bar with .50 yellow chain is an awesome powerful setup for trimming and most homeowner yard tasks. That's how I use mine most of the time, usually in combination with a 261 with 16" bar for firewood duty.

  • @currentresident15666
    @currentresident15666 7 місяців тому

Nice video. I have two questions. There is only one oiling hole in the bar. Doesn't there need to be another hole when you want to flip the bar? Also why did they change the lock on the top cover to needing a tool to remove it? The 180 from a few years ago has a flip lever with no tools needed to remove it.

I bought mine from an authorized dealer. They completed their inspection and I took it home.
Months later when I needed it, following the starting instructions, it wouldn't start.
Do I need it tuned up by the dealer if it sits for a month or two?
Funny enough, the Husqvarna sat for the same amount of time and started right up? I guess that's what I get for having trust in a brand name reputation.
MS180, ran once, never used to cut anything. I'll sell it if anyone is interested.
    Enjoy your day, Friends.
    Wealth and Happiness.
