I just got one from my Still Dealer, I like it so far, don't run it out of gas then you will have a real hard time starting it. Good saw for the money. The guy at the shop when I got it said " it's for old men and girls" I said perfect, I'm a geezer, so I bought it
I have a MS 311 but it is too heavy to raise over my head to branch out of fallen trees. I bought a MS 180C after a hurricane for that and now it is my favorite saw. Even my wife can start it. After a few months though, I changed out the quick chain tensioner for a traditional side scrench type tensioner. The quick chain tensioner becomes to difficult to use when it gets clogged with shavings. I fought it more than I used it. Many MS 180C owners change them out.
Just bought one yesterday actually. Paid $250 plus an extra $50 for carrying case. I'm happy with this little saw. Almost bought a Husquavarna Rancher but I've always been more a Sthil person. The 455 Rancher was also $299, same amount I paid for the Sthil and case. Also got a 2 year warranty with it for buying an e extra few bottles of 2 cycle oil. Can't beat that, not even a Husky. No more woodcutting than I do it's all I need
I also use vp ethanol, free fuel. Definitely if you don’t use it all the time and it’s going to sit a while, and there’s very little maintenance. By using pump gas that’s loaded with ethanol. It’s fine if you use it every day but if you leave it sit for a year like this fellow said, you may have problems. Great video.
How good are these saws , mines been under water in 2 floods now and all I have to do is change the airfilter add fresh fuel n bar oil and they fire straight back up , mine is the model with 2 nuts for the bar and same for the muffler box which has the removeable spark arrestor gauze... Today I fitted the 1123-007-1000 chain tensioner so I can adjust chain from the outside nut side and wow very nice 👌 , they should come factory with these 👍 Cheers great video keep up the good work 👏
I have the exact chainsaw MS180C & when I press the gas all the way it shuts off same with my MS 251. They'll work a bit halfways pressed.Filters are clean new gas & oil, turned the L,H,LA on the 251.. On 180 H,L Adjustments, Had both for 3 yrs. I've used both for last 3 yrs, going for firewood in NM mountains..I dono what's going on..
My rotator cuffs are shot and I am unable to use my other saws. I am off-grid so my need to cut firewood is imperative. I've seen enough reviews on this saw and the MS 170 as well so when I discovered the EZ Start feature my mind was made up. Thanks to everyone making the videos and commenting to allow me to make an informed decision.
First I would suggest you put the fuel cap on the 50:1 gas oil can before you start up the chainsaw before you try to start it and move the can out of your way and 2nd dont use the screwdriver-spark plug wrench to tighten the oil and fuel caps up because they have an oring under the head of the cap, just hand tighten them up
Subbed Hello thanks for the review I’m actually waiting on my order confirmation for my 180c I have a question I see your running VP fuel vs the stihl fuel do you find the saw runs better?
Congrats, you’re gonna love the saw. No, I haven’t seen any performance difference between gas. The most important things is buy ethanol free. Your saw will love you for it... I mean your carburetor:) cheers and good luck!
Micro adjustments 🙈 you passing out some wrong info in this video! The round plastic knob at the chain giver is not the chain tensioner! It’s the bar but that hold the bar in place! The chain tensioner is the small wheel with the +- symbols!
Exactly. I have this same saw. Turning the handle on the side loosens the bar nut so that the bar can move in and out. To adjust the chain tension, you have to turn the little knob above it (the one he said was for micro adjustments). All the poster did was loosen his bar and then partially tighten it. He didn’t change the tension at all!
@@thelatinist5024 exactly! I tend to get upset when I watch videos who the only intention is to get likes and view and they don’t know what are they talking about! In this particular video the in formation that he shares can easily cause a damage to the saw and possible operators injury 🙈
Telling people to buy premix gas is silly... go to the nearest gas station that has a 100% gasoline pump and pay $4 a gal or so... and a buck per gallon for oil, not $25 for a gallon can that's crazy.
Yup, it’s crazy I don’t disagree. If you’re disciplined to winterize your chainsaw after each use buying premix gas is ridiculous. But for folks who use the chainsaw once a year the premix and ethanol free gas makes sense because you can leave it in the tank and forget about it until next year and not worry that the gas will ruining your carburetor.
As soon as he rev’d and looked confused, I was concerned. Then again, doesn’t seemlike he uses it often…I mean, a year and a half? Guess he just forgot. I’m giving him a break.
I own the same saw and one word of caution, if you start your saw with the brake on, when it does start, never rev it up with the brake on. Also never let someone else use it without telling them how to start it. The chain on your saw is an .043 gauge 3/8 Picco while the MS211 is an .050 3/8 Picco. The MS211 shares the same drive sprocket as the MS180. My saw has the 18" .050 bar and chain and it runs awesome. Cuts like you wouldn't believe. One word of caution, don't go to a Stihl dealer and ask about changing it over. They might not be friendly towards the swap over.
You should see my 35 year old stihl 038. Looks to be in the same condition as this saw. It's probably cut over 100 chords of fire wood. I love the saw so I take care of it. I have an 029 that I like the least of my saws. And I don't take care of it at all. And it shows.
I like at 8:25 into the video you're saying you don't need a tool but then you grab the screwdriver and to open the cover for the chain because you couldn't grab it with your gloves on
I just got one a couple of days ago haven't used it yet I'm a truck driver and I live in Oregon great video thank you
Just bought this saw. Absolutely great home saw. Thanks for the tip on the fuel!
Thank you for demonstrating the right way to start a Stihl chainsaw
Except they run much better with the brake off. 😆
Thanks for posting friend:) Very helpful and informative!!
In love your cute baby girl coming around haha so cute she is 😍🤗🤗🥰

The most common way of knowing when a saw needs fuel is when it stalls out. What was the problem you had starting it after refueling?

great review, Thanks. On another note, your Garage Door Handles are upside down.
That was a perfect video thank you and you sold me on it !!!
I have this saw. I truly do not care for it the way it deserves. It still fires up every time.
Love the 60
Great video, very informative. Keep up the good work.
Thank you

I'm in tears laughing at the demo but its a good saw and a good video. Lol.

Now, I’m only use my saw in the winter time to clear the trails and I love it. It still fires up on 2 or three pulls easily.

Does it still work great?
Can you adjust the carburetor
Stop throttling it with the brake on!
I literally just bought one of these today($199.). Except i didn't get the C model. I don't want that easy-start crap or the chain tentioning system.
The easy start is the shit
@@dogman8356 Definitely it is. Ii didn't like it at first and it took a minute to get used to but i love now.
@@edeverret2911 yes sir.. I've had shoulder replacement and it's the only way to go for me!

Most guys will recommend you lift up on the end of the bar while your tightening up
Please mention the Main difference between Ms 180 and MS 180c
I think the main difference is that the C has a quick adjuster for chain tension
And it has the EZ start.
Cool

Following brother. Thanks for video
Hello. I have sthil chainsaw ms 170 c Can I used 18 inches bar in ms 170 c
A 10 minute video on figuring out how your hand brake works. Good job, be safe out there.
Awesome review! Does it leak any bar oil? My echo CS-310 does since new
No none.
I'm sold

TIL you can buy premixed gas.
Mine is close to 22 years old , i cut firewood withit
Well mine was a 120 pull start even after 2 different chainsaw shops ( garbage can
Why would you rev the engine with the brake engaged. Youre essentially burning out the clutch.
His chain was too tight with or without the brake on btw
This guy is a fucking idiot. Some ppl should not be allowed to own chain saws.

So you can swap the bar to a longer bar? Is it an easy process? I'm new to chainsaw.
That saw is not three years old, muffler looks new , and the saw is meticulous clean , only the bar looks used .
I keep my tool s clean + I’m not cutting down a forest just trimming and small trees.

3 days (7h a day) of use my ms180 was much worse condition
Still makes the worst chainsaw blades ever.
How long is the bar and chain
