The Chinese machine with a enclosed cab is a great deal for a gentlemen farmer but if you need the machine for work everyday the Yanmar is probably worth the investment.

The skinnier bucket will slice into the ground much easier; this was not a real digging comparison between machines, only the buckets. Swap buckets then see how it goes.

The Chinese machine was labouring fairly hard when trying to break out but that could be the bucket as well. Either way it’s still a very capable machine. For the price it sure beats hiring one all the time.

There's a lot of videos on Chinese equipment out there. I like this one because you've done a fair comparison between a quality machine and a budget Chinese excavator. Most guys who buy those Chinese loaders and diggers are DIY'ers and homeowners who don't use the equipment daily in a commercial setting.

This past spring i was in the position of either buying a brand new chinese 3 ton or a 20 year old Kobelco 3 ton and decided to go with the Kobelco. I know theres parts available and the chinese quality is just not there yet.
i have putchased chinese attachments in the past and have always spent money on repairs or having to get parts custom machined to work.

I’m at these cross roads as well. Chinese parts are relatively cheap compared to big brand machines. Imagine replacing a track motor on a Chinese one vs kubota or cat ect. $600 for a Chinese one and it would be at least a few thousand for the latter.

I think the china unit has a fixed displacement pump, so it's just fast all the time.
If it had a variable displacement pump like every other machine. I think it'll give that yanmar a run for its money...
But it's built at a price point.

Ive loved useing the yanmar as a rental for our projects. That said, we are considering buying the Agro so we can spread out jobs and not be in such a rush. Looks like a solid platform. That said, def agree with the yanmar quality. Operating without pump whine and stable movement. The more expensive systems purr like a smooth cat. Also love the coke bottle layout vs obese tub o lard. But at less than half price and intermittent use its hard to complain about agro.

for extra pulling power you want as much weight to the back of the machine for as much advantage as possible. you also risk flipping over backwards, but thats the balance. Also you V tread was the wrong direction for best traction. Great video though

That wasn't even fair. It's like running the wrong end of a spoon through a bucket of ice cream vs the shovel end of the spoon. Most people that have multiple buckets for a full size or mini hoe could tell you a trenching bucket is easier on the pumps. The only real benefit I see is stability and traction.

I look at it... If buying brand new if people have 50K to spend then yammer would be the way to go.. but if not then maybe the 15K is the way to go and Perkins engine is a good motor I had farm tractors with the same motor and here it is over 30 years later and they are still running very strong... And on any thing anyone buys there's always room for improvement to make it way better....

Well! Longevity depends on many factors. The Chinese stuffs like this machine runs for around 3 years and then off to the scrap yard. On the other hand, if you have extra parts and a proper mechanic service from the company that you bought it from, then you can make it work longer actually. Although, as I said, it all depends. My mate when he started off his gardening/landscaping company, he bought a cheap Chinese machine, and then bought a used Jcb from the profit of that. The most important aspects are service and spare parts!!

Think he said $14K at auction. Can buy from the distributor for $19K. They are putting these on auction around the country - saw one sell for $10K and another as high as $21K, with median around $16K (need to add in buyer's premium for auction prices). Even at $19K+tax, I think they may make sense for small ranch/homestead. But at $20K, you are getting close to used prices for older name-brand machines (maybe $25K range). Personally, I'd pay more to find a good used name-brand - they are so much more precise/user-friendly than Chinese stuff (better hydraulic pumps/motors/valves/design).

It’s extremely hard ground. My 50,000 pound cat excavator has a hard time with it

@@dig_it_starnes5222 my dealer hasn't heard anything on that yet. Still have Hitachi/deere on the lot. Wacker cant even keep up with there own manufacturing. I would never purchase anything other than minis built in Japan. Us builds junk . Sad but true

@@dig_it_starnes5222 doesn't mean anything. Every deere machine built to date is Hitachi. Contract ended yes but deere still purchasing from Hitachi. I did hear about wacker a while back haven't seen anything. And if deere designed there own larger lines not going to happen over night .

@@dig_it_starnes5222 Pity, Japan revolutionized modern excavators with precise controls and much-higher pressures. They ran rings around the 215/225/235/245 Cat stuff at 75% of the price. Cat threw in the towel after a few years and partnered with Mitsubishi to learn how to build a modern excavator. We bought a new grey market Cat EL200B- came with a Mitsubishi engine for about half what Cat wanted for the exact same (except Cat-powered) machine sold domestically. The Mitsubishi engine was fantastic - quiet/fuel-efficient and zero problems.

Yanmar is the best for your money. The very best is Deere. Between the machines shown, the Yanmar is the only machine I would spend money on.
