How lovely. I am now 75 yo and when I was younger I had a wonderful garden full of flowers and lilacs and lived on 2 acres. I now live in an apartment with a small balcony and have potted flowers every spring, summer and fall. You've inspired me, I think I will add more this summer. Bees and Hummingbirds will love it even more. Thank you very much for your video. Well done.
Thank you so much for your comment. Potted flowers are the best, and wildlife will really thank you for having them. There is always room for more. Have a lovely Summer xx thank you for watching :)
You'd be surprised. I'd bet some neighbours think it's a mess. My Dad was often lobbied to have his garden on Garden Walks - never would since our backyard was his trial garden. He did everything wrong so he could be even more knowledgeable about plants when inevitably as a garden show host and Horticulturalist he would be asked how to save such and such dying plants. Our neighbours on the other hand hated our garden because it looked like a jungle apparently and it wasn't by any means a wildflower, vegetables in the front yard or cottage garden.
I have been sowing, growing and planting for over 60 years now and you’ve no idea how much it warms my heart to see the love of plants that will carry on past my time. I wish everyone could experience the joy of growing just one plant. Keep on doing what you do now. xx
My grandfather came over to the US from Scotland and worked for the Brooklyn Botanic Gardens. He always had me out in our small backyard planting or breaking up flower pots or digging holes for bulbs and crushing dead leaves to put in first. He died when I was 12, but once I became a mom and had my own home that gardening instinct and all that he taught me came back. I have a small pond and garden beds and raised beds all over, There is nothing as peaceful as sitting on my porch in the rain and looking out into the garden.
@@aiai-j7i really? How many years ago was that? I mean my grandfather passed in 1978 so I doubt it was at the same time but he built so many of the structures that were in the Japanese garden and I have photos of him building a fake tree inside this beautiful greenhouse area.
Beautiful! My Father gave my brother and I a small garden each to grow flowers in during the nineteen fifties. I loved my little plot, and tended it for many years.
I love your cottage and cottage garden, it is stunning! You look so pretty with your floral dress and the backdrop of flowers. You have done a great job of creating a beautiful space!
So beautifully inspiring! I wish they included gardening in schools so everyone got to learn and connect with nature in a real way and as early on as possible. So many of our problems as a society arise from a disconnect with nature. Thanks for sharing your garden, its SO DREAMY!
You and your garden are so beautiful,I live in Bath and will lookout for your beautiful garden when I go walking ,thank you so much for your time, Sandy
It’s a dull dreary day here in North Germany. Your video has lifted my spirits. When I saw the picture of you in grandads wheelbarrow, I needed a handkerchief! That was my childhood memory of my grandad, wheeling me in his barrow down to his allotment garden. We always stopped under a beautiful pear tree to look up into the branches. Magical days. Thanks for the lovely memories and inspiration.
I too luv gardening I have flower beds around the whole house. I love growing flowers for cut flower arrangements. I like the English flower garden style too.
Pamela Toombs : Just playing Devil’s Advocate here, but I wonder if it had anything to do the the sound quality which sometimes dropped off and became almost inaudible. Slightly frustrating really. It’s possible that some people got a bit fed up although they started off enthusiastically. Just a thought!
It was my first ever video so I apologise for the sound content. I’ve learnt through making mistakes how to make the sound better for future videos :) hope you enjoy
Flower & Land : It was kind of you to respond. Visually your video was very beautiful and also inspiring, (exactly as Pamela Toombs has said), so thank you for that. 🙂
Just proves you don’t need a huge garden to make you happy and contented. Be careful that for me going to a garden centre is like going to a sweet shop! Many thanks for your flower recommendations.
What a stunning garden. Not only are you bringing joy to yourself but to your neighbours and everyone who views this video. Thank you so much for the inspiration.
Oh, it's so pretty. Cottage gardens are my favorite also. I live in a large desert city but with love and lots of water even I can grow certain flowers. Cosmos and zinnias do very well, but nothing as lush as what you created. You certainly found your calling my dear girl ! Thank you for sharing this. You've contributed to smiling faces today.
This is my future goal. Bring nature back to bloom in all its’ glory right by my home. Everyone should turn their attention to growing a vegetable garden to see us thru this time. Get our body working rather than waiting for govt to bring solutions to us. Our bodies were made to tend the land, not sit behind the desk then go to the gym to squat muscles. Smh

Lovely inspiring cottage garden - here in South Australia we have cold wet winters and hot dry summers 0C-45C so the northern hemisphere cottage garden is a challenge but I’m learning what can thrive in this ‘Mediterranean’ climate - I’ve bought a 60 year old house and garden which has a lot of shade and full sun to balance so I’ve decided to kill the front lawn (too much water to keep alive) and establish a cottage/rose garden dominated by 20 climbing roses of the old french and german varieties and hardy tall perennials like lavender, gaura, Shasta daisies, coreopsis, rudbeckia, salvia, cosmos etc - we get BBC TV dramas here that are set in beautiful villages so I take a lot of photos for inspiration.- thank you for sharing the therapy - John in SA
