Splash Mountain forever. An entire part childhood centered around this whimsical, toony ride and I'm proud of it. For some reason people really HATE change. I guess they’d rather the ride stay the same for the next 100 years. Personally, I’d like to see some new and refreshing ideas. There’s plenty of current Disney movies that children of this generation would probably better relate to. Just putting Princess and the Frog characters and scenery on the existing ride is kind of weak. Just go all the way with a brand new everything and make it better using what they learned from running this for 30+ years. We all understand the movie itself has racism, but we CLEARLY don't see any of that on Splash Mountain... But I can't believe someone had to say 'this ride is racist', when technically the movie is racist. All we see is animals on the ride, which leaves me disappointed on how people start to realize the movie's purpose. Splash Mountain will always be a good ride, but the fact it's being changed to princess and the frog is kind of a downfall. I get it, racism is bad, but getting rid of the ride with no racism taking place? I feel sorry for the fans, omg.
The state of this ride is honestly kinda sad. I know they're working on replacing it, but still, the yearly refurbishments barely fix the broken animatronics. Maybe first-time riders won't notice but it's super noticeable to me and it's a real shame to see the ride kinda slowly rot away while they drag their feet on the Princess and the Frog retheme.
You have a point. Disney neglected Splash Mountain, especially the animatronics. And it's mostly because Disney was too cheap to keep maintaining them. The animatronics were old and outdated they needed updating but it was just too expensive to do that so they cut corners. I think this is the real reason why they retheme to Tiana's Bayou Adventure was because they didn't want to deal with those old animatronics anymore. They can make new ones that are more advanced and easily to maintain.
They are, it's just still in the planning phase given they want to get the re-theme right rather than half-ass it. Probably won't be ready til like late 2023-2024.
