I am a Fenerbahce Basketball fan from Turkey. This most humble and kind person played for Fenerbahce but at that time our organisation managers were idiots. Could not handle the value of Rauf. I am 48, I grew up watching him. We never witnessed something like him. He dropped over 50 against Stockton. Stockton was my hero. He shattered into pieces Stock before my eyes on the TV. Later, his conversion is the main story for us in Turkey; we were in tears when his career was busted by idiots. Rauf is one of the first 3 shooting guards of all time for me. My apologies to his teammates in Denver but they couldn't keep up with him. We know him exactly as who he is. Love him whatever he does. He is a wonderful human being. We hope to see him on big 3 more. He is still a blink of an eye fast compared to his same-aged players. May Allah bless you, brother.
I am a muslim and i find it stupid that just standing for respect. He cant even do it. His reason was "nothing should stand before you and God". Just standing on national anthem won't do that. Great story. Being an agent of change doesn’t come without cost. You have to live with all that comes with it proudly. 2 things. 1. The Charles Barkley “I’m not a role model” ad was aimed at being more than just a basketball player. Too many of our kids only see being an athlete as the only way to be successful. 2. From 1996 till 2018 people and organizations change. So while yes in 1996, it was a problem, Kaep would have been better suited in the NBA in 2018. Great video!
What people have you understand is Chris didn't want to stand for something that didn't TRULY represent the premises of freedom, equality and justice it tried to say it does in it's so called anthem. Thank you for your sacrifices, Mahmoud. Your efforts will NOT go in vain.
Love Abdul-Raouf! A man of courage and moral conviction! Brother you are on the right side of history! O ye who believe! Be ye staunch in justice, witnesses for Allah, even though it be against yourselves or (your) parents or (your) kindred, whether (the case be of) a rich man or a poor man, for Allah is nearer unto both (them ye are). So follow not passion lest ye lapse (from truth) and if ye lapse or fall away, then lo! Allah is ever Informed of what ye do. (An-Nisa 4:125)
Mahmoud Abdul Rauf was the Stephen Curry of his era. Much respect to Mahmoud for standing for his belief and willing to risk his career. We all know the history of America.
Good man , all the best to brother Mahmoud. By chance, I happened to be at the Mosque in Denver, Colorado when he had Shehadeh, the being, accepting, in the faith. We are fans of true spoertsmanship and to those that believe in God. Thanks for this fine video
David Stern knew what type of guy they had when they made MJ the face of the league. A brother that's never going to rock the boat. Steve Kerr showed integrity way back then his teammate.
I truly believe that God allowed him to use basketball to elevate him to the platform he’s on today. He is now able to reach and influence many more people now than he would have been had he just been a baller. He is now spreading knowledge and wisdom to anyone who will listen to him. I cannot wait to see the Showtime documentary on him.
So before Steph Curry, there was once a MAR. Awesome. Brings to mind the Collin Kapernick saga. How sad the truth becomes a pain in the butt when it is said.
The 51 against Stockton is legendary. Rauf literally looks like a MyPlayer playing on Rookie difficulty. “Pass out of double, call for it back, one two dribble, kick out, slither to an open spot and shoot it half a second after it hits the hands” or “Calls for the ball on the wing, half spin into a contested three, nothing but net” or “Dribble drive, stop on dime, pass out, relocate, call for ball, patented pump fake fly by, ultra quick release swish” The full footage is somewhere on UA-cam. You have to see it to believe it. This man was blackballed out of a potential HOF induction and definitely a record or two.
Excellent job on the video it does Mr. Abdul-Rauf true justice and shines a righteous light on him being blackballed and ousted from the NBA. In my humble opinion was an amazing point guard he could do it all, score the ball, drop dimes, play d, excellent teammate and solid leader! A certain Golden State Guard reminds me a ton of Mr. Abdul-Rauf. Makes you wonder if the NBA was open minded back then we would be praising him just as much as we praise Steph now. The NBA robbed Mr. Abdul-Rauf a possible hall of Fame Career. Thank you Mr. Abdul-Rauf for having the courage to be for real and stand up for your beliefs and who you are as a righteous human being. Thanks for the amazing video keep up the excellent work
Story how one individual, that took time to grow as a person and educate himself in terms of religion. But also developed in terms of human empathy, general view on how things stand with social/racial injustice in US and how US take advantage of it's position to opress other countries, got bullied by majority of US society that's highly uneducated and belives that sunday beer combined with BigMac and game on TV means "land of freedom"...

We all need to honor Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf and he deserves his spot in the Hall of Fame!
🚫
Indeed!
Haha we do not need to honor a man
I have unlimited amount of love and support and respect for this Angel who was playing basketball, I love his Energy and support him a Zillion percent, extremely proud of him and the things that he does, said and believes, support Him then, now, and forever..
He reminds me of my Self..
Love this brother and May the Good Lord forever bless and keep Him.
I love this guy. I dont know what happen to him back then why he disappeared from the league. He can dominate. Respect on this guy and to others that have the same belief. He can definitely dominate the game today. Love from the Philippines..
Because freedom of speech is only for some people and not others.
I mean, if you watched the video, you’d know why he left the league… He got blackballed duhhhhh !
🤡
He simply lived in a different era. If he lived in this era he'd go like "ALHAMDULILLAH, I KNOW YOU GUYS DONT LIKE IT, ALHAMDULILLAH. GOD GAVE ME STRENGTH"
He must be included in NBA 2K23 onwards such a great player. I love you brother.
That opening is a masterpiece that jazz is a masterstroke
The audio book of his newly published autobiography, "In The Blink Of An Eye" is now on UA-cam. You can listen to it for free.
Can you put the link of this book in the comments sir?
Why not buy it
@@patrickdupiton8953 I am buying it because I think its important to financially support each other, especially someone like M.A.R. who stands for something, and lost so much because of his stance. I was just letting people know that the audio book is available here on UA-cam. It's an interesting listen because it's part of a UA-cam book club, and the participants discuss the many issues addrssed in the book; so, it makes you think about societal/global implications.
His Document Stand is on Showtime
Buy the book..
This man actually risked it all for his beliefs. He did not get speaking events, a nike contract and end up making more money than he did when he was playing when he stood (not kneel) for his beliefs.
A true hero! An inspiration to all young men
Some much respect for Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Thank Abdul may ALLAH protect you and all muslims
I SALUTE YOU FOR STANDING ON YOUR BELIEFS ABDUL WAS IS THAT MAN THEN AND NOW THE GREATEST POINT GUARD EVER AND THE MUHAMMAD ALI OF OUR GENERATION
One of our shining beacons. Righteous.
With the Finals tomorrow night I am Nostolgically remembering all the Nuggets I will love til life!!! Underated Legend Abdul-Rauf is
This guy was special since young. Just because people
Don’t respect and understand other peoples choice of thinking.
I respect other peoples religious and choice of life.
We kill each other over nothing. Have a blessed day.
"Elegant & Praise worthy, most merciful, and most Kind." I was happy he reemerged in basketball pop culture. For so many years, he was forgotten. He was my favorite player when I was young. If you are able to separate the player from the controversy, what's left, is arguably the best shooter ever who had his career ended while still in his prime.
🏀🏀I watched that "below the rim" documentary till I ruined the tape back in the day🏀🏀
👊Wes
All respect 🫡✊🏾to this guy !
For some reason.. I enjoy this story!!
this man overcame not only health issues but outright hate..he got death threats and all behind his stance...May Allah continue to bless him
may ALLAH rreward you with JANAH Firdeus Ameen
Great video This guy was and still one my favorite guards ever🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
A MAN💪 above the system and desires ... ! TRUE CHARACTER of a BELIEVER.
May God bless his heart ! Thank you for posting this video 🇲🇦 🇫🇷
Freak'n AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What people have you understand is Chris didn't want to stand for something that didn't TRULY represent the premises of freedom, equality and justice it tried to say it does in it's so called anthem. Thank you for your sacrifices, Mahmoud. Your efforts will NOT go in vain.
Facts, and the Anthem Stinks
Ahead of his time
From west Africa
🦅
God bless this brotha. I also like that he’s wearing a Stephen curry shirt that’s dope af 2 me
Love Abdul-Raouf!
Its time for current NBA management should give him proper recognition...
Legend 🏆🐐🙏
It’s good to that the commentators respected his name change. Respect to them!
MJ was definitely about that shuck & jive life 😂 he wasn’t ever going to go against his puppeteer
That move on Jason Kidd was crazy 🔥
Him and Kevin Johnson were my 2 favorite point guards
I truly believe that God allowed him to use basketball to elevate him to the platform he’s on today. He is now able to reach and influence many more people now than he would have been had he just been a baller. He is now spreading knowledge and wisdom to anyone who will listen to him. I cannot wait to see the Showtime documentary on him.
True gentleman☝🏼
He was an amazing basketball player so let it be and let him be who he is. He's Mahmoud Abdul Rauf .
So before Steph Curry, there was once a MAR. Awesome. Brings to mind the Collin Kapernick saga. How sad the truth becomes a pain in the butt when it is said.
He is inspirational man wow
He was a great one in his short time
Great basketball plaer indeed. God bless you brother
Alhamdulillah 🤲🏾☝🏾💚
Bruh Chil with them stupid incantations stop with them vudu Shi ya feel me
The 51 against Stockton is legendary. Rauf literally looks like a MyPlayer playing on Rookie difficulty. “Pass out of double, call for it back, one two dribble, kick out, slither to an open spot and shoot it half a second after it hits the hands” or “Calls for the ball on the wing, half spin into a contested three, nothing but net” or “Dribble drive, stop on dime, pass out, relocate, call for ball, patented pump fake fly by, ultra quick release swish”
The full footage is somewhere on UA-cam. You have to see it to believe it. This man was blackballed out of a potential HOF induction and definitely a record or two.
Dude was a shoot-first guard with no defense and no ability to create for others. HOF? You’re having a laugh.
“Potential HOF” his career ended early. Are you an oracle?
thanks for re-telling this story. we need more and more of this.
Real man
Abdul-Rauf solid✅️💯
A true example to us all!
For you..*
@@samuelrigaud6595what did he do wrong in terms of religious obligations? Genuine question.
@A 500 What religious obligations, thinking he's special? Hakim & Karim are both Muslims also *
His game is soo cold
Great video Oldskool ! Thank you for the knowladge. Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf is awsome man. Im going to play him in 2K right now 😂😂😂
Mahmoud is a legend
A hall of famer
The man
Great story and well presented. Thanks for sharing.
America will still be the same in the next decades and they will bring this story back along with the other stories
“Stand for somethin or fall for anything”
Wow wow he history touch me
This man was the Truth.
Great game by great man
“And what is with Allah is better and more lasting for those who believe, and in their Lord they put their trust “ verset 36 - Surat AL Shoura
Is a great man.
Thanks for the amazing video keep up the excellent work
Alhamdulilah
Story how one individual, that took time to grow as a person and educate himself in terms of religion. But also developed in terms of human empathy, general view on how things stand with social/racial injustice in US and how US take advantage of it's position to opress other countries, got bullied by majority of US society that's highly uneducated and belives that sunday beer combined with BigMac and game on TV means "land of freedom"...
Mahmoud I wish Black people were as aware of that racist anthem as you were. You are a HERO!
