Another fantastic interview of another fishing giant and pioneer!! Happy Birthday and many more to Stu Apt in good health and tight lines! Thanks Millhouse for sharing the history of the greats!!
This podcast has some of the best stories I've ever heard in my life. I'm no saltwater or flyfishing angler, but man this is really getting me excited to get better at fly casting and throwing at some tarpon.
Thank you so much for doing these. I have been waiting to hear Stu’s interview. I couldn’t help but smile and even tear up listening to this. Keep doing these interviews. They are fantastic, and needed.
Most excellent podcast! My favorite one of yours yet. I was lucky enough to spend time with Stu Apte in the fly casting pond at a Ft Lauderdale Boat Show many years ago and my all time biggest poon on fly came on a big olde 3/0 Stu Apte palolo worm fly that I was dredging on an IM line while sitting on the poling platform anchored up behind the Ch 2 bridge "toombs" on the bay side. That fish was estimated at 140 Lbs and I still have the fly & leader proudly displayed in my fish tackle & memories man 'cave'. Anyway, I've read 3 of his books and he is the absolute best fish story teller of all time, IMHO. Cheers to you both & Salud!
It’s never been about the bait we always had plenty of bait and still do🥴the big fish came here to spawn and the only thing that’s changed has been the salinity🤪we have 7 fresh water rivers that feed our flats and the flow has decreased substantially🥱never in my 40 years as a tarpon guide in Homosassa have I never witnessed tarpon crashing bait on our tarpon flats😳😎🇺🇸
This guy is the real deal.
Awesome podcast
Andy,
Another wonderful job! Two class acts having a causal conversation...just beautiful. I cannot believe he is 90, he looks and sounds so great.
Epic! What a great story !
Incredible, a legend from my youth thank you Andy and Stu

I still remember the original story about the 151lb tarpoon on a fly.
