    CORRECTION. These wheels are a H Hook design, rather than a hookless rim, apologies for any confusion.

    Ordered a set of "Team Edition HUNT 44 Aerodynamicist Carbon Disc Wheelset". They came scratched and had different spokes then described on the website. Hunt said, oh, that was a failure on the website, there are no aero spokes on these aero wheels. Made complete sence to me. Send the wheels back, got another pair after weeks of waiting. Had to tell Hunt better put a plastic bag around the wheels so they wont get scratched again. Second pair had a big scratch on the hub even so they where well protected this time, so they has to have been scratched before transfer. I thouh, well its a minor thing, put the wheels in the bike without tyres to check them out, and oh my gosh they where out of true. Contacted Hund again, took them weeks to answer again, just to tell me, well use a sharpie for the blemish of the hub and go to a mechanic to let the wheels true. What a brand, what a service. Thank you so much. Ah and as if its not enough, when you want to send the wheels back you can not simply go to DHL or elsewhere with a retoursticker, oh no, you have to stay at home and wait for UPS to pick them up.

    Nice review. I am always a little sceptical about aerodynamic data for wheels that is published for speeds around 45km/hr, where in reality most mortals are not going to average anything close to that unless racing

    I have the same wheelset, but I believe they are H Hook designed. Not a Hookless rims. BTW, great review. I 100% agree with your review.

      @@joshtriathlontraining All good. There should be more reviews on this wheelset. I had them for about one month and put in about 1k. So far so good.

    Thanks for review!😄
    I been thinking lot of rim depth, i like how 54 looks, but still wondering is it stable enough for group riding if wind comes, and for endurance style when you don't focus 110% anymore, just thinking about finishing for the day. So been thinking 44 or 4454 options too (54 back looks still cool, and dosen't effect that much for stearing 🤔). Have you cycled any high winds?
    Also thinkin about dt swiss erc 1400 vs HUNT. But hunts offer lifetime warranty wich more than super nice!

      I wouldn’t even think about riding anything above 45 mm in the Uk as it is just too windy here, in South Staffordshire where I live the wind gusts have never been less than 35 kph all year often well above that yesterday it was around 50 kph ridiculous why is it always so windy in this god forsaken country? It never used to be like it. It’s only been the last 7 years or so.

      @@maur_ice decided campagnolo shamal 35 on front 40mm on back
      For hunt ws dt swiss i was thinking dt swiss. And why campa? Well hand built in Italy for Italian bike like should be 😅

    Great review. I'm thinking of getting a set. The question for me is, how deep do I Go? I'm of going with the 62mm front and and 82mm out back but I'm worried I'll be sailing sideways off the road with a slight breeze. Haha. Does anyone have any experience with the deeper hunts?

    • @joshtriathlontraining
      @joshtriathlontraining  Рік тому +2

      Thanks for the great feedback! I find 54mm to be a very comfortable depth and I barely notice the wind with these. Going slightly deeper would likely be okay but it's worth thinking about the landscapes that you usually cycle in also as it will impact which depth is right.

      You will get blown into the path of an in coming truck riding those depths with the insane UK winds unless you live in some Goldilocks zone of the UK where it isn’t windy because where I live it’s regularly blowing a 46 to 50 kph plus Hooley every day.. last Sunday I had cross winds taking my front wheel and the rims in my new BMC roadmachine 2 I measured to be about 38mm so I dread to think what it would be like riding 60 and 82 Jesus.

      Live in the UK and I ride zipp 858 all the time. It all comes down to how heavy you are. The bigger you are the more you can get away with riding deeper wheels. Will there be days where the wind is noticeable... Yes. I have had my wheels for almost 2 years now and I ride almost every day, I can count on one hand the amount of times, they were a challenge to ride (even then it just added to the ride).

      You'll be fine. I ride TTswith high winds with a disc wheel and a tri spoke on the front. You'll soon learn how to lean Into the wind 😂

    I think there is a big difference with hunt wheels reliability between the wheels equipped with ceramicspeed bearings and the crap ezo steel bearings. I think Hunt shoot themselves in the foot a bit with the ezo bearings even though they can be ok with really light riders a heavy rider will kill the bearings really quickly!.

    54 is too deep especially with how windy it is in the UK 30 to 40 kph plus winds every day. I’ve gone for 45 deep wheels.

    • @joshtriathlontraining
      @joshtriathlontraining  Рік тому +1

      Personally I haven't found the 54 depth to be too deep for living in the UK, although I may have a slightly different experience living in London!

    • @MrChippiechappie
      @MrChippiechappie Рік тому

      I wouldn’t think it would be that much much different event though London seems to always get the best of the weather, well it gets all of the money and investment so it might as well get all of the decent weather as well what little we get anyway. It’s been absolutely shit in South Staffordshire since the start of March nothing but wind and rain 46 kph headwinds on most days and temperatures 4 centigrade bellow average.

      I ride 80mm all day every day no issues. It all depends on how big you are. The bigger you are, the more stable deeper wheels get

      I was warned off these by my LBS so I’ve gone for a set of Mavic Cosmic SL Disc in 45 mm depth beautiful looking wheels and they have excellent reviews too. All I’ve got to do now is convert them to Sram XD-R as they came set up for Shimano HG and then bang a pair of Continental GP5000 S TR tyres with some muc off sealant and I’m good to go. They should transform my BMC roadmachine 2 Force etap axs as it came with a cheap wheel set DT Swiss E1800 spline with a pair of super sluggish Vitoria rubino tyres the bikes like riding up hill all day can’t wait to get these beautiful new wheels as bud tyres on it.
