Casting Belt Buckles By The Lost Foam Casting Process

Taking a simple foam pattern we cut on the cnc router we bend it and then glue it to a foam tree. next we melt down old aluminium and pour it in the prepared sand mole with the foam in it.

About dry sand: In green sand casting the sand+clay has a few percent water. Deliberately damp (and some clay) so the sand can hold together like a sand castle. The pores in the packed casting material are sufficient for water vapor produced to escape as the metal fills the mold.
