so the tech is raving about how little he's doing to tune these drums, and it shows so much, they don't even sound close to stadium level as far as tuning goes, alot of work left to be done on those toms specifically.

Love this video as well , awesome information for drummers who wanna do live performances. Evans are the best as well, with pearl drums.

classic drummer... not hitting anywhere near as hard as he's going to hit the drums during the show.

Yeah, I know that the heads with the plastic sleeve that holds the foam is an EMAD, I have them on my kit. But they're batter heads. Evans make a "sister" head called REMAD (literally Resonant EMAD) to match the EMAD batter head.

The toms sound terrible, why not tune em before sound check?

I hear you but I feel like there's definitely a stadium sound people go for.

@@playing_jazz oh yeah i get that. Stadium drums sound incredible. I'm just sayin, why not tune before sound check? Maybe Evans had to film somethin real quick

Actually they make an EMAD resonant head, which is like an EQ3 Reso Black, but with a plastic sleeve which holds a foam dampening ring around the edge of the microphone port. Sounds killer! :)

I known Melvin since his days with "Stereo Popsicle and he has always play a large kit. I understand you point though....but with JB...you need something to keep interesting....

It's not so much a technique as it is hand/foot coordination. He's splitting triplets between the toms and kick with the first note on the toms and the following two notes on the kick.

Well for a gig like that it requires a lot of computerized sounds so to say......so having just conventional drum sounds wont really cut it ya kno?

@@jacobdejongh9042 i have played evans, for me they are dark and for my maple drums just don not fit fir the sound i like, i like an opened sound with long sustain.
      It is my opinion.

Do you really need a kit that big for a JB concert? He looks like he's about to play some metal with that kit, and cymbals ..

@Jabari Cambridge Thank you for your comment. I certainly wasn’t referring to his playing. I’m just not a fan of Evans drumheads. Regardless of brand, the way his heads are tuned lack bottom end.

Melly, man I was let go from my job after 9 years because of lack of business due to the pandemic. I got a lot of time on my hands and im sure you have a spare drum kit you can send a former coworker in need!! I need music back in my life!!
