@@altairal-nahrain9472 Turkey is a beautiful country. I'm a high school special education teacher in America by vocation and a Socialist political activist by avocation. My work in politics has really opened my eyes to the good the UN does, and I think my country needs to transfer its bloated military budget over to the UN. The UN will broker world peace for us and we won't need a military, then. I'd eventually like to see the UN turned into a global federation of sorts and unite humanity in peace and solidarity.
I will always remember the peacekeepers as the Blue Helmets.

U.N. peacekeepers will not defend you from violence, harm or death. They will only stand there and watch the events unfold in front of them. Then leave because the U.N. peacekeepers will not fight to defend the helpless.

I'm not a U.N peacekeeper but I do security work with my uncle to help keep peace by preventing crime, loss, and workplace violence for office/corporate settings (I'm planning to protect sick patients at hospitals). I'd love to utilize my security training for the U.N peacekeepers sometime. Become a U.N security officer for their H.Q. That would be such an honor to serve a cause like the peacekeepers. They're clearing out gang slums in the favelas of Brazil too. Cracking down on militarized gangs, and keeping the place under control so the citizens can live safely.
Everyone wants to rip on the peacekeepers because of their track record and history of politics dictating their logistics / success. I get it, they’re an easy target for criticism - but they’re also the first ever military force that operates in such a capacity, and a lot of people only focus on the failures (Bosnia, Rwanda) instead of the successes (Cambodia, even the Battle of Mogadishu at the end). Give them some slack, but also give the whole peacekeeping movement some fresh air by pushing the UN to reform UN peacekeeping.
What the world needs most is an impartial force that can uplift the bullied and bring justice upon the bullies. What the UN peacekeepers need is a full time structure, better separation of mission objectives from host nation politics, and improved discipline by means of higher pay and harsher punishments for civilian incidents.
I want a Standing UN Peacekeeping force. I would join them.

not worth the risj. you basically got the ammunition and equipment of 1st world countries, but you are definitely not allowed to shoot them. Not even to defend yourself or a warning shot to the air. Doing so will get you a disciplinary punishment.
The amount of rounds fired during PKO mission would make 1st timer shooter in the range laugh.

The U.S. donates the most to the U.N. and what does the U.S. get in return? Lectures about not giving more and complain about U.S. having the balls to fight terrorist and throw our bodies into the fight to defend the helpless. The very thing U.N. peacekeepers refuse to do.

So we agree that ISIL would not have become such a big issue without Iraq? When they now lose Mossul, they will no longer be ISIL. They knew that this would happen, hence they choose the name IS. This is also the reason why the UN should be involved to find an answer, along with the Arab League and Israel.
Let's go back to 2010, when Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi declared himself 2nd Emir of the Islamic State of Iraq, after Abu Omar al-Baghdadi was killed in a joint operation of American and Iraqi forces. Why was this operation carried out by US and Iraqi forces? Why did they kill instead of capture Abu Omar al-Baghdadi? Why were the Arab League nor the United Nations involved in these processes?
Hardly surprising that the snake is not slain by chopping off a head, but it grows a new head and the snake becomes even more aggressive and more violent?
The civil war in Syria brought new opportunities for Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, since the USA has no influence on President Bashar Hafez al-Assad. ISIL even became a new trading partner of Russia, Turkey and Saudi Arabia.
Could all this have happened if the UN had monitored and controled the border between Iraq and Syria?

Russia's role as arms supplier and geopolitical strategist is at least as important as that of the USA. Both could have stopped ISIL / IS / Daesh ... years ago.

Tries so hard to be li the United States military but still can't be as well trained or equipped as the United States. Then the UN asks help from the United States for backup when they can't finish a job. Then we send in the Marines, Army, Air Force para rescue or any other American force. Then has the balls to say the United States were not needed in that firefight . Not saying that the men or women who have fought as peacekeeper were useless. I'm just saying that that's why I would rather fight for the most ELITE fighting force on the face of this great God made Earth, as a United States Marine.

What the fuck are you talking about. You have to be a member of your country's military to join the peacekeepers. It is only for a certain time then you return to your own army. As for asking for America's assistance and then discrediting them, when did that happen.
