When Israel "occupied" Southern Lebanon, it was with the concurrence of at least half the residents of the region who were Christian Arabs. During the 18 years of Israeli presence in Lebanon south of the Litani River, there was relative peace and quiet and the residents lived much better economically and socially than north of the river which was controlled by Hezbollah and kept in a state of ruin from the time of the civil war. The fact that the majority of it's members represent a marginalized sect in Lebanese society is not surprising, nor is the organization's evolution in the political sphere, where it wields power. Hezbollah's religious, ideological, and military connection with and backing from Iran is now very clear, based on this journalist's report. It also makes sense that Iran is behind the military empowerment of the Houthis. The bottom line is that the region needs military de-escalation and more effective diplomatic strategies for achieving lasting peace. They don’t take direction from Iran as they are not a proxy. They work closely w Iran and Iran provided arms and funding, but they act independently and in the interest of the Lebanese people.
Iran has even provided more than just arms and funding, Iran has allowed Lebanese engineers to study in their universities under a scholarship from the IRGC in order to train them how to build their own missiles and drones without the need for constant supplies from Iran. And because of that, Lebanon now is the 3rd country that has a large stockpile of Missiles of various ranges, with Iran and Yemen coming 1st and 2nd.

If Qatar was forced to pick between being friendly to the Muslim Brotherhood versus being friendly to the Iranian regime what side would they pick? How would that affect coverage on Al Jazeera? Certain bias in reporting. There was no interest in spreading Iranian idiology. Iran saw it as duty to help Palestinians, the oppressed, Palestinians. The security Lebanon has today is that Isreal would think twice before attacking Lebanon again because of Hisbullah.
Aljazeera is a Zionist leftist outlet , it has never been against Israel , it's against "Israel's right wing" , Qatar has normalized secretly with Israel in 1997 , few days ago Qatar's FM in an interview with Fox News revealed this open secret .
When you talk about the origin of religious based politics system in Lebanon, you should mention who settled that! That’s France and the UK, with the objective to divide the nation in order to have a weak power in place to intrigue for their own benefits! All started from there… and the counter power made buy Palestinians refugees who were seen and acting like a state in the state that led to the civil war. In the Syrian war eventually this became an issue. In the Gaza war it has not so far. If there was another Lebanese civil war I wonder how Al Jazeera would cover it?
They are pro Palestine, yet they are on the attack against Hezbollah and at the same time supporting Ukraine!!!!??? Also, they keep mentioning Israeli hostages and Palestinian prisoners!!!??? Meanwhile, Qatar is hosting asian cup on the back of Genocide
Iranian regime supports terrorism. So I doubt Qatar would back them.
Certain bias in reporting. There was no interest in spreading Iranian idiology.
Iran saw it as duty to help Palestinians, the oppressed, Palestinians.
The security Lebanon has today is that Isreal would think twice before attacking Lebanon again because of Hisbullah.
*extreme
They did in 2006. Israel leveled Lebanon's critical infrastructure and bridges. Then pulled out. They are still trying to fix it today.
Aljazeera is a Zionist leftist outlet , it has never been against Israel , it's against "Israel's right wing" , Qatar has normalized secretly with Israel in 1997 , few days ago Qatar's FM in an interview with Fox News revealed this open secret .
LOL
Like Iran was helping by arming Isis?
Such a great, informative, concise, non-biased and super clear documentary. Thank you, Al Jazeera!
Please be accurate to give people the right understanding without orienting their understanding with your hidden agenda
You need to prove that France and the UK intentions with a valid proof because someone else can see it as a way help provided by those nations 🤷🏻♂️
@@Ouss-2077 England and France screwed all nations they occupied
be objective and reasonable to your comments. don't be biased to your false belivs
This kind of comments are from those type of countries that won't progress.... they blame rather than taking responsibilities they go deeper the past rather than moving forward... but who am I to judge... I just wish future children will have a better world.
Religion...money...weapons...IRAN...what a SICK grouping!!!!
I remember from my dad during 70s that lebanon is heaven on earth, great university, clean place, peace. but suddenly it changed when Radical muslim count increases. HEZABOLLAH was born then and they destroyed peace and everything. Millions of cristians was mass murdered, converted or forced to leave.
When the victims (the Palestinians) of a bullying force (the Israeli government) meet their protection, any power that represents the victims and defend them become heroic force. That’s the nature of life. It’s impossible to change that.
The fact is even HAMAS is no solution the oct7 attack was just to delay Israel saudi deal for normalisation
Provoking a war and loosing doesn't sound like a victim to me. Free the Hostages first why does Gaza need them?
Thanks for the explanation for those of us that did not know much about the players.
Excellent video. Loved it. ❤
Decent and unbiased content
Thanks this contain ❤
Very fair and objective assessment. Thank you.
It’s hard being terrorists these days
Always informative. Thank you!
Half backed facts. You must do the research first to do such programs. And also include voices from both sides in the program
Its always amazing when people fighting for their own land are always called terrorist evil west
Some are facts others mostly propaganda
They forgot to mention that Hezbollah and the Palestinians are what brought Lebanon to crumble from a once thriving Christian-majority country.
This channel is about half truths which is more dangerous than lies.
It looks pretty accurate to me. Please tell me where is the propaganda ?
How these are lies? Can you enlighten me, pls.😊

Very informative. Good video
very well explained 😻🙏🏽
😍😍😍fantastic 👌🏾👌🏾
Condolences BBC, jazeera!
Ppl don't understand, it's the normal citizens that took whatever weapons they had then, when Israel first annexed south Lebanon! And fought hard to defend their land! Then with time they didn't see no help but from Iran! Whom armed and made them even more powerful! They chose their leader! And since then as long as Israel still exist, they can't be disbanded! Cuz Israel always wanted parts of Lebanon, and they still control some of it till this days!
Ah oh that why natanyahu every years tell Iran have nukes in 2 month
Um you cray. Israel does not want Lebanon
@@huvilakier7783 then why have they tried to occupy certain areas multiple times. Why are they doing a ground invasion right now then?
@@huvilakier7783bro do I need to send you the link to the Israeli real estate ads for south Lebanon 😂😂😂
Thank you Sandra and Aljazeera explaining Hezbollah.
My name is Mark I'm from New Zealand we are a multicultural Democratic country our hearts go to all innocent people affected across the Middle east.
God bless.
Once I realized the source, I’m not surprised at the slanted ‘reporting’.
This was an interesting report. The anti-Israel and pro-terrorist bias was so subtle it was barely noticeable.
Really good docum. The truest one I've ever seen.
The hardest knot to untangle is one where every strand pulls in a different direction-cutting through requires more than strength, but understanding each thread’s story.
Absolutely brilliant program!
Why is it brilliant?
It’s refreshing to hear this honesty from Al Jazeera. There is a lot of propaganda surrounding Al Jazeera, but Al Jazeera is the most welcomed journalism group in the Middle East, and there should be respect for that. Anyways, thank you Al J for this video.
Can you please drop a video about the peace treaties signed by israel and palestinians
Thanks for an interesting and rather balanced reportage about Hezbollah.
They made them seem slightly weaker than they are, keep in mind if there was No hezballah, there wouldn’t be a Lebanon
Lebanon is literally ruined and dirt poor BECAUSE of Hezbollah
Their would be a Lebanon, but without the south, and the Christians will be having peace treaty with Israel.
Attacking Israel while talking about defending themselves is diabolical
I remember from my dad during 70s that lebanon is heaven on earth, great university, clean place, peace. but suddenly it changed when Radical muslim count increases. HEZABOLLAH was born then and they destroyed peace and everything. Millions of cristians was mass murdered, converted or forced to leave.
You bet and now you messed with them and look what they will do to you🎉😂
Thank you so much Al Jazeera for bringing all the important information ❤❤❤❤❤
Whos here in NOV 2024 lol😂
Lebanon used to be such a beautiful country.
Generating the powerful groups is ability and capacity of strategic planning and strength
Thank you for explaining the conflict.
Wait did Israel fire rockets first or was it Hezbollah. lets get this stright.
israel as always
Hezbollah always fires first.

That was a very informative piece, thx ;- ]
the glorification of a terrorist group is nauseating
Long live the Palestinian people 🙏...
From the Iranian regimes
This reporting would make Goebbels blush
They also do forget to tell that Lebanon before it became more Islamic orientated it was a good place to live. Only after islam came it was destroyed.
A very clear and concise explanation of the Middle East conflicts.
Thanks for the information 👍
Lebanon has a right yo defend itself against imperialism
A very useful introduction.. thanks Sandra.
Khumaini❤
Very poised reporting, I like her
Israel also killed press in lebanon
Very informative.
This video has a lot of bias you should ask the people in Lebanon what they think of the group and move from village to village instead of reporting false claims
What are you trying to say ? That the people of Lebanon don’t love them ?
@@Harrys-truth no the complete opposite since the gaza war there ratings across Lebanon has been shown they have a 80% support from the country even the Christians are supporting there efforts to protect Lebanon from evil while they reported only half the country supports them
well articulated
Thanku Al Jazeera 👍🇧🇩
It's never all right to hurt a child 💯
Funny how that region of the world was fine before the establishment of Israel..
If you added the USA’s proxies in the region it would explain more
"If Israelis don't want to be accused of being like the Nazis, they simply need to stop behaving like Nazis" - Norman Finkelstein
I learned a lot from this thank you
Once Lebanon used to be prosperous and now its in tatters, feel sorry for ordinary Lebanese people
Condolences to AJ on the loss of their CEO
Gotta love the usual biased and misleading content of Al Jazeera.
