Great performance, really fun. Nice touches all over (the octave jumps, the added "lalala" etc). I was blown away when, after anticipating the timing on "Pronto prontissimo" at 4:17 (he had to say "della citta" 6 times instead of the written 5 times), he was still able to take the piece home!

He sometimes goes one octave above or below what's actually written, which demonstrate a huge effective vocal range ("effective" meaning he not only can produce the notes, but he can produce them with agility and projection above an orchestra during an actual performance), he does different voices, and goes into multiple vocal registers. The written piece is extremely difficult, steep, mountainous, yet somehow, I can't believe I'm saying that, still much simpler than what he does. And then yes, on top of that he acts. This performance is legendary. Source : Am currently deciphering it. I've got the range, except for his high, unwritten, contra-F (I stop at contra-E), but not the agility, and the projection will be a work in progress for years to come. I did not expect him to do all this extra stuff.

I dont think you really understand. Tenors can easily hit the notes of this aria but very, very few tenors can do it justice because it requires much more than high notes.
