A few things to discuss: The same engine in an Altima revs at about 1950 rpm @ 70 and in the QX55/50 about 2300 rpm. Run flat tires weight about 5lbs more than the non-run flats create 20 lbs additional rotating mass to accelerate and additional unsprung weight. It weighs about 600 lbs more than the Altima with the same engine. AWD, additional weight and increased rotating mass. The Altima made around 34 mpg and the QX55 typically around 24 mpg in the same driving. Also, Nissan recommends 5W-30 motor oil in the Altima, but 0W-20 in the QX55.
The lower MPG on this SUV has little to do with weight, and more to do with body shape pushing more air. Run Flats off road with no spare is a bad idea.
The only complaint I have with my QX55 is the fuel economy. The computer fuel economy rarely matches what the gas pump says after filling the tank. The fuel economy is much less than the computer. For example, my last fill up was 23.77 mpg, but the computer said 26.7 mpg.
the problem here is there is really no way to know which is accurate because new cars have emissions junk at the filler area that can cut off fuel flow--you can't fill it all the way and it varies on weather. You also need to get on the highway and check your mile posts against the odometer...drive 100 miles and see what the car says...start there first.
Nicely done. An honest opinion and a old school review. Thanks for sharing 😊

@@chadhaire1711 How about the higher rpm at cruising speed and the heavier run flat tires?
