Testing and tweaking some very old mechs and machinery I made circa 2014-2015. They are not made to be practical or efficient, but to have some fun and experimentation.
Note: This is not the actual mining mechanics of Space Engineers. I mean, it works, but this methods are unnecessary and over complicated.

You can improve the 1st design by adding a projector and some welders on the head, that allows it to build the platform on the go !
That mech was programmed in a former life to be a break dancer, his head slide technique is unprecedented
I Imagine that first design would operate a lot more efficiently if you better positioned the drill heads, The lower ended ones are likely diging its own grave.

I really like your walkers. The 6-leged one would be very effective on a lake digging into the mountain for stone (now that stone has a purpose)
on the first drill, perhaps a small hydrogen thruster could assist there

you know the weight for the Excavator drill would be lessened if you have a second set of arms on the bottom in scissor lift style.

all this being said, i Have learned that since stone can be turned into iron vehicles like this are kinda viable now
