Feel like there is still more footage beyond the workprint since it’s just a workprint to show the producers & studios what the film is looking like as it going on at the moment. Feel like there is a final cut that Britt made and was shown to the producers, and then that’s when they decided to start cutting stuff. Cause even with the workprint version it’s still not entirely coherent and I doubt Britt would’ve handed that in.
There is. There's still a bunch of deleted footage featuring the Thomas models that has yet to be released in any form.
That still wasn't a finished product as it contained placeholder music for Hummie Mann to use as inspiration. They'll have trouble being allowed to release that because it would be hard to get the rights to that music.
Let's be honest, even with the director's cut, there were bound to be problems with the movie, such as the whole magic aspect going against what Awdry had intended.
@@newguy186 Pretty much. You look at how unnecessary PT Boomer is to the overall story, you learn that the movie probably would've sucked even without the cuts... Also, the original cut isn't a director's cut. A director's cut is a new cut of a movie made after the initial theatrical release.

Well, to be honest about your aspect ratio and film quality point at around 6:00, and this is going by just the US releases, the VHS obviously looks the most blurry, the DVD looks much better but is in 4:3, and the iTunes release is compressed, but the cropped image is how it was intended to be seen in theaters. The Blu-ray essentially takes the uncompressed look of the DVD and combines it with the theatrical aspect ratio for the best possible quality footage. It also means that watching the DVD included with the 2020 Blu-ray won't result in a stretched aspect ratio since older DVD players tend to do that with 4:3 content, and the not-so-HD look makes sense for DVD, more so than Blu-ray.
One of the things I've found weird was that for the documentaries that they never brought up the original Voice actors for the film.
It's a real shame because it would have been really nice to see them at least bring up John Bellis or show us more of the cut sodor scenes or maybe get in contact with him for a possible interview.
Because the documentary focus on shining time characters. And I think Britt Allcroft made a decision not to talk about them yet.

If this is Shout, they pulled a similar move concerning trailers and commercials with their Jem set. Ttey SOMEHOW had possession of a pure vhs rip of the first commercial but it was cut off from the start and had the freaking 'play' command at the top of the screen.....even though there is a complete and higher quality rip here on UA-cam.
Oddly enough, the special features disc for that will also only work on certain players.
EDIT: As for who this is for....general people. I'm being honest. Just general buyers, most likely adults with kids who need something to entertain them for an hour or so.
The special features are 'just enough' to make older fans happy and possibly make it worth the price of the blu-ray since no one likes empty blu-rays with no features.
I love the history and the effort fans have put into preserving and archiving the process of this film but as I'm finding out as I'm getting older, fans may be the source to keep things in order since a lot of rights holders don't care. I I've learned more from Thomas fans about the film and the series than Mattel ect, so in the end I can only say keep searching and finding material.
One major point I have to disagree with you on is that the deleted storylines is exactly the same as the workprint. There are parts sourced from the workprint, sure, but there’s a lot more footage not in the workprint included on the deleted storylines featurette. The same is true in reverse, but there’s a lot more in the deleted storylines than the workprint. I consider the deleted storylines more of a supercut of deleted scenes instead of a director’s cut or an entire edit of the film. That’s just my take!

When I first watched Thomas and the Magic Railroad many years ago I though that there would more characters like Edward, Duck, Donald Douglaus, Bill, Ben. Oliver and the rest of the characters but unfortunely that never happened, plus I was expect to see Gordon, Henry, James, Percy and Toby at the end of the movie with Thomas and Lady.
As a BIG TATMR fan (It’s a garbage movie, but it’s MY garbage movie), I’m really happy this movie’s being preserved more on another format. But I wish the release was a bit more lively in content. Like BTS images that were taken of the models before filming. That Twitter account, TTTE_Unofficial, leaked a bunch of TATMR-era photos and they’re SO INTERESTING. Why not include that stuff on it?
Anyway, I’d say if you’re a fan of the movie, or a collector, get the Blu-Ray if you can find it for 20 bucks or something similar. It’s completely worth it then for me.
If i made the anniversary disc,
A:i would had collor correct the movie
B:Restored the Workprint with full 4K and....Color correction
C:have more Behind the scenes pictures from the series and movie
Bonus:have ZOOM interviews with the voice actors, something called "Meet the engine’s first voice actors"

How would you react if in some future Thomas and the Magic Railroad would have a remake to bring to life PT Bommer and restore the original Plot? Or at least if once Lady would come back to the series at least once? I think TATMR deserves another chance with a remake
I still wish for that Blu-ray to get released in the UK! And honestly, I have not watched those special features, as I prefer not to watch them on UA-cam.
The film is 21 years old it came out in 2000.
Just a note there are some distributors in the US for Blu-rays that don't region the Blu-ray discs they're usually compatible all regions

I remember the 80s Rupert bear cartoon airing reruns on a channel called tiny pop I vaguely remember it airing on there but as of why they would Air it on there is beyond me little bear made sense but Why Rupert

It was also released in Canada. The reason is because Shout Factory is an American company, and only prints on region 1 discs, which won’t work on a UK Blu-ray player, unless you had a region-free player.
Meanwhile, I'm still waiting for any of the deleted footage from Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie and TURBO: A Power Rangers Movie to surface.

Be interesting if the DVD was rushed for those who grew up with it. But Tugs would be interesting if they released it although again it's on UA-cam so might be the same so never going to happen
People have wanted TUGS on DVD for years, but apparently, the license is a bit of a problem with it not being known who has the rights currently, and if it is the people who made Salty's Lighthouse, do they still have some license/ownership of the footage.
@@FireStormDel isn't the right clearwater that david mitton and britt traded off but in this case CBS or PBS has the rights.
@@daviobryker Britt had nothing to do with TUGS, it was a David Mitton/Robert D. Cardona creation produced under Clearwater which closed in 1994, but as far as I know, rights or permissions at least would have been given the team behind Salty's Lighthouse, whether they got the complete show rights, I don't know but I doubt since they would have no doubt wanted more footage made for the TUGS sections of stories if that was the case.
And last I recall, there was a fan effort to buy the TUGS rights from who supposedly had them last, but they were told they couldn't buy them from them, so it's up in the far still far I'm aware of, things could have changed since then.
@@FireStormDel interesting because although it's on UA-cam Mattel haven't canceled them as per Thomas channels so yea you might be right there but it's a shame it never was released on DVD and pity many Thomas fans will never know about the awesome effects that David Mitton did in that show is why S5 came out like movies

I prefer the workprint, the 110 minute version (From the Blu-ray) has WAYY more human scenes then Thomas, the leaked workprint is only like 7 minutes longer then the Theatrical Cut, plus the pacing is way better.
@@Ethan52108 At least with the Blu-ray Deleted Storylines feature, we’ve seen all the plot holes have been filled, and some knots have been tied together. I don’t know about you, but I, for one, am not gonna let Thomas’ screentime blind me from what really made this movie a would’ve-been solid, strong story. And remember what i said about Peter Fonda, Russell Means, and Doug Lennox. I bet they would’ve been happy about this if they were alive today.

@@Ethan52108 in my mind, the only way to do that is re-write the entire film and do a reshoot, which was impossible for their time constraints.
