so so helpful! I tried for a week to find ways making Geolayer style animation using QGIS with Davinci, but still on the process and its really not easy. I find nothing much on the web(keyword like geolayer+davinci). But finally your video comes! Thank you.

Can you make a new video about it, because on the latest version, the the Quickmapservice plug in does not have the google satiate map
When you install Quick Map Services you wont see all those maps. you have to go to settings in the QMS plug in and get the contributed pack.

Exactly the kind of stuff I'm looking for--THANK YOU. Would love some more in depth stuff on this. I don't understand why they won't make a DVR version of GeoLayers to simplify the workflow. I would fork over serious cash for it!

When I do the operation you did at minute 01:12, I get an error.
Same here. This is the message I get:
Export to vector file failed.
Error: Creation of data source failed (OGR error: sqlite3_open(Greece.gpkg) failed: unable to open database file)
However, I think I might have found a solution. After you have named your file, click the three dots next to "file name", and select a folder to save it in.
Basically the problem seemed that it didn't know where to save it. Let me know if it works for you.

Thank you for this. Would exporting as svg instead of png from QGIS have helped, making the zooming easier without losing any information?
Not really because once you import the SVG into davinci resolve it is set to the resolution of the background. But it can be used to animate the borders like on my latest video

Great tutorial! Just one question though. Let's say I highlighted and exported more than one country (they're neighbouring countries) with the outlined borders. How do I re-outline those borders in the fusion tab, since for some reason they wont show when I add the background node?

make a mask pain / polygon follow with the border created, u can animated borders with this way

This might be a silly question but how did you get Google maps up?
I searched QMS and Google Maps requires a API Key. Am I in the right place or have I taken a wrong turn somewhere?

That didn't happen to me there could have been a change in Google's API but I doubt that.

Ah fair enough mabye try my newer video - Geolayers In Davinci Resolve: Map Border Animation. This is a better method even though it might be a bit harder on your pc.
I'll have some more videos out soon as I find out more about this workflow as its not very known about.

Can you chose historical maps on QGIS? Interested in making a historical video with this method, but obviously the borders back in the day were different. Cheers
Yes on geolayers you can import any geojson file.
github.com/aourednik/historical-basemaps I found this for example if you drag this into Geolayers and select the different borders like I did on this video it should work.

With this method the only way of doing it is by masking out the border and animating the mask.

You need to install the map box plugin I mentioned earlier in the video
When I click on Web I only have 2 options: NASA or OSM but no Google map options? what am i missing?
You have to download the plugin this is shown earlier in this video.

You go to quick map services=>settings=>more services=>get contributed pack.wait then save

It's for people who want to do it in davinci resolve
